NEW- Noise Advisory- firing demonstration on Fort Myer Oct. 15-16 
The 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) will be conducting musket firing 
training on Summerall Field Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.; and Oct. 16 
from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

NEW- Flu shots offered at JBM-HH Memorial Chapel 
Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic will offer seasonal flu clinics at the 
Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. Dates for the flu shot 
clinics are: Oct. 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, Nov. 4, 18, and 20. Each clinic is open from 7:30 a.m. to 
3:30 p.m. 
There will be two Saturday clinics offered: Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 
noon at the Rader Clinic. 
These clinics are open to active duty military service members and their 
beneficiaries (ages 2 years old and up), retirees and their beneficiaries (ages 2 years old 
and up), and DOD civilians. Children younger than 2 years must go to their primary 
care doctor to receive the vaccine.

NEW- Henderson Hall to host swim challenge Oct. 17 
Registration is open Oct. 15-16 for the Commandant Henderson Memorial Swim 
Challenge to be held at the Maj. Douglas Zembiec pool Oct. 17 between 6 a.m. and 6 
p.m. 
The challenge is to swim 38 laps to commemorate Marine Corps Commandant 
Henderson’s 38 years of service as the Commandant of the Marine Corps on his 
anniversary of appointment. 
Swimmers must register to compete and the challenge is limited to 38 
participants. Those who complete the challenge will qualify for a special event swim

NEW- NAF property sale at MCCS Henderson Hall 
MCCS Henderson Hall will host their Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) property 
sale Oct. 17-18 in the tent in front of the Marine Corps Exchange on the Henderson Hall 
portion of the joint base. This is a “Cash and carry” event; only cash will be accepted 
and purchased items must be taken upon sale. Items include store fixtures and assorted

NEW- DPTMS to be closed Oct. 17 
The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) will be 
closed Friday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for their annual team building exercise. This 
closure includes the entire IOC and the Security Office. In case of an emergency, please

To bring awareness of domestic violence, MCCS Henderson Hall’s Family

the Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gym on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Three spin 
sessions will be led by Matt Tourville, information on domestic violence will be

NEW- Semper Fi-ve K Fun Run 
Registration is open for the Navy Mutual Aid Association Semper Fi-ve K Fun 
Run, presented by MCCS Henderson Hall Semper Fit. The run is Oct. 29 beginning at 8 
a.m. in the Navy Mutual Aid Association parking lot. All participants must be at the
finish line by 9:30 a.m., where breakfast refreshments will be available. The top three

NEW- JBM-HH Commander’s Holiday Race Series 
The JBM-HH Commander’s Holiday Race Series kicks off Oct. 31. To qualify for 
a Commanders Holiday Race coin, participants must register online and complete the 
three holiday races beginning with the Demon and Doggie Dash Oct. 31. 
The race begins at 6:35 a.m. at the Fort Myer Fitness Center. Participants can 
either run two miles or walk the one mile course. The entire family, including your 
four-legged family members, are invited to this race. Costumes are encouraged and 
prizes will be awarded for top finishers as well as best costumes.

NEW- Two civilian employees need annual leave assist 
A Directorate of Emergency Services employee, Christopher Watson, and a 
Directorate of Resource Management (budge office) employee, Mary Jones Williams, 
are approved recipients of the civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to 
medical issues, they have exhausted both sick and annual leave. 
Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave 
to Watson and Williams must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual 
Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within 
Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf.

Special education workshop for EFMP 
JBM-HH Army Community Services will host a special education workshop for 
exceptional family member program members Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 
ACS Bldg. 201. The workshop will focus on components of an IEP, relocating with an 
IEP and special education laws and advocacy skills. This workshop is open to all DOD 
ID card holders who are parents or service providers to children with special needs.

Critical Incident Peer Support Training Oct. 20-24 
The U.S. Army Military Police School, Behavioral Sciences Education & Training 
Division will train Soldiers, DoD civilians and JBM-HH community members how to 
provide an avenue for their peers to “talk out” their personal/professional problems 
regarding critical incidents confidentially with fellow responders/investigators (non 
professionals) who not only care a great deal about their well-being, but who also have 
a first-hand understanding of their situation. The training will be held at Spates

MCCS Offers New Community Counseling Program 
The new Community Counseling Program is designed to provide increased 
access to counseling for Marines, sailors, and their families, and to focus on screening,

All counselors are independently licensed and credentialed professionals who can work 
with you to develop a plan and find solutions to meet your needs and help you

ACAP supports spouses in transition 
Army Career and Alumni Program offers services to the spouses of military

with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment 
Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary 
negotiation) and financial planning.

Marine & Family Programs offers workshops on coping with work and family stress 
on an ongoing basis. The 12-session, evidence-based series, designed to teach strategies

room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Topics include identifying 
stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing
