New – Thanksgiving holiday hours Most offices on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 so everyone can celebrate Thanksgiving, also a federal holiday. Most military personnel will have a training holiday Friday, Nov. 28, and some activities will be open with reduced staffing. The following facilities and places of business have reported open or closed hours for Nov. 27 and 28. Unless otherwise noted, the list applies to Nov. 27, Thanksgiving. This new, alphabetical list is not all encompassing; please check with the facility you wish to visit for more details.

News 
New – Winter weather news, information Winter weather is on the way! In the event of weather-related closures, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall (Fort Myer, Fort McNair, Henderson Hall) personnel follow the guidance of the Office of Personnel Management. OPM determines the "open" or "closed" status for all government agencies and installations located inside the Washington, D.C., beltway. 
If you have a question about your duty status, contact your supervisor. Partner organization personnel should inquire within the chain of command.

At JBM-HH, filled ice melt buckets have already been placed outside facilities by Public Works personnel. Refill ice melt buckets by bringing empty buckets to Building 325 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base and at the P Street lot on the Fort McNair portion of the joint base between the hours of 1 and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

New – Dining Facility special Thanksgiving dinner is Monday, Nov. 24 
The special Thanksgiving meal served at the Dining Facility on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base – also open to retirees and DoD ID card holders – will be held Monday, Nov. 24 with designated seating times for different groups. The cost is $7.60 per person. A dining schedule, listed below, has been set up to accommodate as many people as possible: 
 4th Battalion, 3d Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) personnel and families – dine from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. 
 RHHC, 529th Regimental Support Company (The Old Guard) personnel and families – dine from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
 1st Battalion, 3d Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) personnel and families – dine from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. 
 Sister services and families, retirees, DoD civilians – dine from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, the meal will be smaller than usual because the “official” Thanksgiving Day meal will be served Nov. 24. New – Armed Forces Blood drive Dec. 3 The 529th Regimental Support Company is hosting the annual Armed Services Blood Program’s Army-Navy Blood Donor Challenge Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Myer Fitness Center. The Armed Services Blood Program will conduct more than a dozen blood drives across the National Capital Region. Blood collected will help determine which service will win bragging rights and a trophy for the most units of blood donated to the ASBP. The challenge w3ill be capped off with an on-field award to the winner during the third quarter of the Army-Navy football game at M& T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Dec. 13. Army? Navy? Who do you think will win? "Blood is a valuable resource that stands ready to support in a time of need,” said Army Lt. Col. Audra Taylor, director of the Army Blood Program. “The timing of this challenge is key as we work together to support our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines – both at home and abroad – during this holiday season. New – Military Career & Education expo slated Dec. 4 The Army Education Center staff is hosting the annual Military Career and Education Expo Thursday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Activities Center, Building 405 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. This event will feature military career programs, benefit providers and colleges, in a fair format. There will be breakout sessions for the military career program representatives to brief participants on qualification requirements and other important information. These sessions are offered during the event on a schedule that the service members must sign up for in advance.

Flu shots offered at JBM-HH Memorial Chapel 
Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic offers a flu shot clinic Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
The clinic is open to active duty military service members and their beneficiaries (ages 2 years old and up), retirees and their beneficiaries (ages 2 years old and up), and DoD civilians. Children younger than 2 years must go to their primary care doctor to get the vaccine.

Road closed at Fort McNair Nov. 20, 21 A portion of 4th Avenue – from C Street to B Street -- on the Fort McNair portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, will be closed for a road construction project Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20 and 21. To facilitate the project, all vehicles parked along 4th Avenue between C and B Streets must be removed by 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19. A detour will direct traffic to 5th Avenue during the construction project. The parking lot on the east side of Lincoln Hall will not allow access to 4th Avenue.

Turkey Bowl football slated 
The Single Marine Program at the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base is hosting a Turkey Bowl flag football tournament Friday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Fort Myer softball field. This is open to all joint base active duty and civilian personnel.

Civilian employees need annual leave assist 
A Logistics Readiness Center employee, Johnny L. Bailey, and a Directorate of Emergency Services employee, Christopher Watson, are approved recipients of the civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to medical issues, they have exhausted both sick and annual leave. 
Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave to Bailey and Watson must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf. 
If you are a federal government civilian employee outside the Department of the Army and want to donate annual leave to Bailey and Watson, you must complete OPM 630B, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Outside Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630b.pdf or www.opm.gov/oca/leave/HTML/formindx.asp.

Holiday tree lighting slated 
The annual tree lighting ceremony held at Building 59 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will take place Wednesday, Dec. 3. The pre-ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the tree-lighting to begin at 5 p.m. After the tree is lit, the community is welcomed to Brucker Hall for a special visit with Santa. 
Federal employee benefits open season to begin this month 
It’s never too early to begin planning. Open season for Federal Benefits continues through Monday, Dec. 8. Employees are responsible for updating their information and making any necessary changes during this time. For more information, log onto the health vendors websites to download their brochures or check out the Office of Personnel Management’s website at www.opm.gov/FEHBbrochures. 
Prostate Cancer Support Group 
There is a Prostate Cancer Support Group that meets at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be Nov. 20, 1-2 p.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the America Building, River Conference Room, third floor. Spouses/partners are invited. A valid military identification card is required for base access to Walter Reed. For those without a military ID, call the Prostate Center at 301-319-2900 at least 4 business days prior to this event for base access.

‘Ugly Sweater’ 5k run/1 mile walk set for Dec. 5 
The third and final race (5k) – walk (1 mile) in the JBM-HH Commanders Holiday Race Series will be held Friday, Dec. 5, beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the Fort Myer Fitness Center.

Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program supports spouses in transition 
Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program (formerly Army Career and Alumni Program) offers services to the spouses of military personnel who are transitioning: both retiring or ETSing (Expiration of Term in Service). 
Some of the services offered to transitioning spouses include one-on-one assistance with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary negotiation) and financial planning. 
More services include classes on home buying, credit scores, investing, TRICARE, finding and applying for federal jobs and much more.

News New – Winter weather news, information Winter weather is on the way! In the event of weather-related closures, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall (Fort Myer, Fort McNair, Henderson Hall) personnel follow the guidance of the Office of Personnel Management. New – Dining Facility special Thanksgiving dinner is Monday, Nov. 24 The special Thanksgiving meal served at the Dining Facility on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base – also open to retirees and DoD ID card holders – will be held Monday, Nov. 24 with designated seating times for different groups. The cost is $7.60 per person. New – Armed Forces Blood drive Dec. 3 The 529th Regimental Support Company is hosting the annual Armed Services Blood Program’s Army-Navy Blood Donor Challenge Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Myer Fitness Center. The Armed Services Blood Program will conduct more than a dozen blood drives across the National Capital Region. Blood collected will help determine which service will win bragging rights and a trophy for the most units of blood donated to the ASBP. The challenge w3ill be capped off with an on-field award to the winner during the third quarter of the Army-Navy football game at M& T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Dec. 13. Army? Navy? Flu shots offered at JBM-HH Memorial Chapel Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic offers a flu shot clinic Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The clinic is open to active duty military service members and their beneficiaries (ages 2 years old and up), retirees and their beneficiaries (ages 2 years old and up), and DoD civilians. Road closed at Fort McNair Nov. 20, 21 A portion of 4th Avenue – from C Street to B Street -- on the Fort McNair portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, will be closed for a road construction project Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20 and 21. To facilitate the project, all vehicles parked along 4th Avenue between C and B Streets must be removed by 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19. A detour will direct traffic to 5th Avenue during the construction project. The parking lot on the east side of Lincoln Hall will not allow access to 4th Avenue. Civilian employees need annual leave assist A Logistics Readiness Center employee, Johnny L. Bailey, and a Directorate of Emergency Services employee, Christopher Watson, are approved recipients of the civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to medical issues, they have exhausted both sick and annual leave. Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave to Bailey and Watson must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf.   • 6. Holiday tree lighting slated The annual tree lighting ceremony held at Building 59 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will take place Wednesday, Dec. 3. The pre-ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the tree-lighting to begin at 5 p.m. After the tree is lit, the community is welcomed to Brucker Hall for a special visit with Santa. Federal employee benefits open season to begin this month It’s never too early to begin planning. Open season for Federal Benefits continues through Monday, Dec. 8. Employees are responsible for updating their information and making any necessary changes during this time. Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program supports spouses in transition Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program (formerly Army Career and Alumni Program) offers services to the spouses of military personnel who are transitioning: both retiring or ETSing (Expiration of Term in Service). Some of the services offered to transitioning spouses include one-on-one assistance with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary negotiation) and financial planning.
