New – Absentee Voting Week 
Sept. 29 – Oct. 6 is designated as Absentee Voting week. The goal is to encourage 
all citizens voting under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act 
(UOCAVA) to register to vote. The cutoff for requests this year is October 7th. 
During this week JBM-HH will offer voting assistance officers (VAOs) to 
encourage all eligible citizens to participate in the Nov. 4 Federal election. 
This year’s mail-in deadline is October 20th.

New – Locker verification requirements at Smith Gym 
From Oct. 1-31, all Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gym patrons must verify that that they 
still require a locker. Patrons should stop by the front desk to re-sign for lockers. The 
deadline to verify locker requirements is Oct. 31. After Oct. 31, gym staff will cut off

New – 2014 CFC Kickoff fun run/walk
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall is hosting a 2-mile fun run and 1-mile walk to 
kick off this year’s Combined Federal Campaign. The race is Oct. 1 and begins at 6:30 
a.m. at the Fort Myer Fitness Center. On-site registration will be held from 5:30-6:15 
a.m. 
This year’s CFC theme is “Make It Possible.” To learn more about donating to

Fuel station for government vehicles temporarily closed 
The fuel station for government vehicles located at Transportation Motor Pool on 
the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be temporarily closed beginning Sept. 29 at 5 
p.m. and will re-open Oct. 1 at 5:30 a.m. This temporary closure is in support of end of 
fiscal year inventory. Customers needing to refuel government vehicles during this time 
are able to use the AAFES fueling stations or local gas stations using their government

All employees who are required to file a financial disclosure must also receive

Critical Incident Peer Support Training Oct. 20-24 
The U.S. Army Military Police School, Behavioral Sciences Education & Training 
Division will train Soldiers, DoD civilians and JBM-HH community members how to 
provide an avenue for their peers to “talk out” their personal/professional problems 
regarding critical incidents confidentially with fellow responders/investigators (non 
professionals) who not only care a great deal about their well-being, but who also have 
a first-hand understanding of their situation. The training will be held at Spates

Junior wrestling coaches, participants sought

MCCS Offers New Community Counseling Program 
The new Community Counseling Program is designed to provide increased 
access to counseling for Marines, sailors, and their families, and to focus on screening, 
prevention, and intervention of stressors and problems to improve readiness and 
quality of life. We offer individual, couple, family, child, and group counseling services. 
All counselors are independently licensed and credentialed professionals who can work 
with you to develop a plan and find solutions to meet your needs and help you

ACAP supports spouses in transition 
Army Career and Alumni Program offers services to the spouses of military

Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary

stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing
