The littoral zone is the area close to shore that is covered by saltwater at high tide and exposed at low tide. It contains a variety of animal life like anemones, clams, crabs and fish as well as aquatic plants such as algae and mangroves. The littoral zone experiences fluctuating temperatures, moisture levels and salinity due to the daily tides.

that vary from below freezing to scorching.
 Salinity:Depressions on the shores sometimes form
tide pools,areas that remain wet although they are not
long-lasting features.
