This document outlines the topics and goals for a 2 hour media issues and debates exam. Students will critically discuss and argue perspectives on a range of media debates, including whether violent films should be censored, the prevalence of American films, and journalists' privacy intrusions. The exam aims to assess students' understanding of issues, context, viewpoints, and their ability to form informed opinions while drawing on concepts studied. Examples of debate topics include the overuse of film genre formulas and whether gender magazines reinforce stereotypes.

2. Aim To develop critical arguments about a range of media debates and issues. Bring all the various skills and concepts you have studied together.

3. Issues the concerns people argue about the discussions we have as a society about the role of the media and the relationship between individual people, media organisations, producers and governments.

4. Example Should violent films be censored? Why are 90 per cent of the films shown at mulitplexes American? Should journalists be allowed to intrude on people’s privacy?
