1. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
2. One of the main things I have learnt in the progression between my preliminary and my final
magazine is my skills and knowledge of the technology used to create the magazines. Mostly on
Photoshop, I have learnt techniques and tools by trial and error which have allowed me to
advance the quality of my magazine. My knowledge about what makes a good quality magazine
and what appeals to my audience, this is because of my extensive research of magazines such as
Clash and Loud and Quiet who are considered as very successful magazines. I have attempted to
implement this knowledge into my magazine.
An example of a technique I
learnt is the ability to add
effects to photos such as
light leaks and changing
selective colours. I have also
learned how to use the quick
selection tool to precisely cut
around photos in order to
crop them.
In addition my knowledge of what makes a good quality magazine has improved, this
includes using a horizontal double page spread which caught my eye and has become
more and more popular and is increasingly used. I also learned about the popularity of a
clean and formal style of magazine, the use of only black and white on my cover and
contents is an attempt to do this, and in which I believe I have succeeded.
