AIR POLLUTION
Exhaust gases released by vehicles will
endanger the environment and pose as a

URBAN ESCAPE
THEME
By proposing Urban Escape, urban users are given a moment of
respite from the stressful urban realm.
PRECEDENT STUDY 1
PRECEDENT STUDY 1
Ku.Be House of Culture in Movement A community center in Denmark
DESIGN INTENTION
To bring people together,
promoting healthy lifestyle
regardless of age, ability or
interest.
DESIGN SOLUTION
Made up of 6 primary volumes,
each representing different
spatial programs
DESIGN SOLUTION
The empty spaces form the route,
accessing to the different volumes
PRECEDENT STUDY 2
PRECEDENT STUDY 2
Googleplex Google headquarter located in California
DESIGN INTENTION
Creating a diversified environment, integrating workplace with
learning, meeting, recreational and food facilities
DESIGN SOLUTION
Provide a university campus-like environment,
combining both work and life needs
DESIGN SOLUTION
Integrating campus-like programs, satisfying the
needs of the individual and the collective
Clubhouse Coffee Shop Supper Club Conference Library Bar Terrace

PRECEDENT STUDY 3
PRECEDENT STUDY 3
Public space project in ChicagoChicago Riverwalk
DESIGN INTENTION
Reclaim the river’s edge for the
ecological, recreational and economic
benefit of the city
DESIGN SOLUTION
The path changes its shape and form to provide a
series of new programmatic connections to the river

CONTEXT
LACK OF
DIVERSITY
W E A K N E S S
Activities are restricted as site C is surrounded by administration buildings. Citizens
in that area prefer to stay inside the building rather than the outdoor area.
Hence, there is no interaction between different user groups.
The Site can be transformed into a Social Anchor that can
promote interaction and give people a chance to have
contact with nature and release stress.
CONTEXT
NOISEW E A K N E S S
Noises that affect our site are mainly causes by transportation. The
LRT produces Intermittent noise every 3 to 4 minutes whereas vehicles
produce continuous noise especially during peak hours.
Building setback as green barrier to
block sound penetration

CONTEXT
NEGATIVE
ACTIVITIES
T H R E AT S
THE SITE BECOMES DORMANT AT NIGHT ALLOWING FOR
NEGATIVE ACTIVITIES SUCH AS MAT REMPIT, HOMELESS
PEOPLE AND LITTERING.

CREATE DEFENSIBLE SPACE
TO AVOID HIDING.
PREVENT DEAD END

USER
EMPHASIZES ON PROGRAMATIC ENGAGEMENT, SPATIAL LAYOUT AND SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT THAT WILL
HELP TO REDUCE URBAN STRESS. LOCATED NEARBY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, THE BUILDING CAN
BECOME A STOPPING/RESTING POINT FOR THE BYPASSER. THE BUILDING AIMS TO BALANCE UP THE
FUNCTION OF JALAN RAJA LAUT, FILLING IN THE MISSING PART OF THE AREA.
