2. Our chosen song
The song that we have chosen to use for our
music video and to base our idea around is
„Alone In This‟ by The Shape Of The Earth.
We have chosen this because we were looking
for a song to base a story around with some
sort of meaning, so this song will work well as it
is a slow-pace song with a climax that we
could make effective within our music video.
The song is an alternative genre which means
that the music video idea’s could be very varied
and still work with the song.
3. Synopsis and codes and conventions
The idea that we have come up with for our music video is to
base it mainly around one girl who will be travelling alone
around the country however she will meet people on her
way which will be shown in the video by different camera
shots and a handheld camera that the girl will be using in
order to make the viewers see what she is seeing. By having
the camera handheld, it will show that she is by herself
making it more effective, this will match the lyrics “am I
alone in this”. Alongside this, we want to have some normal
establishing shots and close ups to help show characters
and expressions to make the viewers feel more for the music
video and the song. On her way she meets people that show
her glimpses of happiness but the main point of the video is
to show that she is always really alone even when she‟s
surrounded by people.
4. Inspiration
The inspiration that we had got for our music
video was from other music videos and film
scenes. In the film ‘Spring breakers’ and ‘Dark
Shadows’ there are both scenes of a girl alone
sitting on a train by the window, and this could
be a good shot to use. These films use this
shot in similar ways, to show the character is
alone, so this has given us inspiration to use
that in our music video to show and give the
same effect.
