The codes and conventions I have
used, and how I have challenged
them.
2. Codes and Conventions of my Front Cover
• The masthead is a simple and bold.
• Dateline is there which is in a noticeable place
• Main image is quite large and the covers the masthead a bit.
• The cover-lines I have used are all at an appropriate size and follow normal conventions, but I
did challenged them a as I played around with the colour of them a little bit as they all look to
alike.
• Main cover-line if different from the other cover lines and
stands out more than the other ones and is much bigger.
• The third left of the magazine is more busier than the other
parts of the magazine.
• I have the standard barcode and it positioned in a place where
normally is, however I did challenged this code as I also placed a
different type of barcode with the normal one as well.
• The selling is normally located at the top of the magazine which
is what I have done.
• I have also provided a website like and also some social
networking sites. Which can be looked as a different change to
the codes.
3. Codes and Conventions of my Contents
Page
• The colour scheme has carried on from the front cover which makes the contents page and
the front cover come from the same magazine.
• Title like all pages normally have
• I have got the smaller masthead at the top of the magazine
• I have the editors note which many magazines have.
• I decided to keep it at the bottom of the page instead of the top
like normal.
• I have texts boxes with the page numbers which is a code that is
followed all the time
• I also have sub-lines under the articles names.
• I also have the main image with the page number for it.
• I have a regulars category to show that are not on every
magazine but on most.
• I have another picture which is normally done in other
magazines.
• The on thing I have done that isn't done in normal magazines is
a music chart. I have seen it on Billboard magazine but I haven't
seen it any where else.
4. Codes and Conventions of my Double
Page Spread
• I have a main image that takes the space on one whole page.
• Then I have other images that are used which isn’t normally done in magazines.
• I have a headline on the page where there is the main image. I used a quote for this.
• I have the subjects name and this is the name of the main artist.
• I have many quotes in the article, which is normally done in magazines.
• I have a stand first/drop capital.
• I have columns to have the article
guided in.
• The one thing I am missing is the
by-line.
• I have a strap-line that is
describing saying a short, snappy
line of the article.
