3. ORGAN
• Our body is made up of different parts.
• Each part has a particular function to perform and is called organ.
ORGANS
EXTERNAL
ORGANS
INTERNAL
ORGANS
4. EXTERNAL ORGANS
We can see some of our organs like eyes, nose, ears, skin and
tongue. These are called external organs.
5. INTERNAL ORGANS
There are some organs that are located inside our body. We
cannot see them. Such organs are called internal organs
LIVER BRAIN
HEART KIDNEY
LUNGS
6. ORGAN SYSTEM
A group of organs that work together to perform a particular function
is called organ system.
Examples:
1.Respiratory system.
2.Skeletal system.
3.Muscular system.
4.Circulatory system.
5.Digestive system.
6.Excretory system.
7.Nervous system.
8.Reproductive system
9.Lymphatic system
8. BRAIN
• Brain is located inside our head.
• It controls all the functions of our
body.
• It is surrounded and protected by a
bony structure called skull.
• Brain sends messages to different
parts of our body and helps us to
think, feel, show emotions and
remember things.
10. HEART
• Heart lies in the chest cavity between
the two lungs.
• It is slightly tilted towards the left.
• It is protected inside our rib cage.
• It beats throughout the life of a
human and pumps blood to all the
body parts.
12. LIVER
• Liver lies on the right side
of our abdomen behind
the ribs.
• It produces juices that help
in the breakdown of food
in the body.
• It also cleans our blood.
13. STOMACH
• Stomach and intestines help
in the digestion of food we
eat.
• Stomach is a bag-like ‘J-
shaped’ organ.
• It is present below the chest.
• It helps in the breakdown of
food into smaller pieces
which is then digested in the
intestine.
14. SMALL INTESTINE
AND LARGE
INTESTINE
• They are present below the
stomach.
• They further breakdown the
food into simpler substances.
• These substances are used by
our body for growth and to do
various activities.
15. KIDNEYS
• Kidneys are located inside
our abdomen.
• We have two kidneys.
• They filter and remove the
wastes from the blood.
• These wastes are given out of
the body in the form of urine.
19. NOSE
• The process of breathing in air is called inhalation.
• The process of breathing out air is called exhalation.
• Our nose consists of fine hair and sticky material called mucus.
20. WIND PIPE
• It is the air passage in the body that carries air from nose
to lungs.
• It is also called throat or trachea.
21. LUNGS
• We have a pair of lungs located in the chest cavity.
• These are the spongy bag like structures protected by the rib cage.
• They absorb oxygen from the inhaled air and remove carbon dioxide through
the exhaled air.
27. DEEP BREATHING
• It is a simple method of breathing in a lot of oxygen-rich air.
• It is a type of pranayama.
• It is practiced during yoga or meditation to relax our body and
mind.
• It involves deep inhalation and holding the breath for a few
seconds before exhalation.

29. AIR POLLUTION
• Pollution means the addition of harmful substances to the environment that makes
it dirty and unsafe for humans, plants and animals.
• The harmful substances that make environment dirty are called pollutants.
• The addition of harmful substances such as smoke and gases to the air as a result of
human activities is called air pollution.
31. CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION
• Air pollution is caused due to the smoke and harmful gases that
are released from various sources.
• Examples:
1. smoke released from vehicles.
2. factories.
3. forest fires.
4. bursting of crackers.
32. • Burning of
1. wood.
2.coal.
3. leaves.
4. polythene.
5. garbage.
• Discharge of harmful gases from
1. power plants.
2. Refrigerators.
3. Air conditioners.
33. EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION
• It causes lung diseases such as asthma, chest pain, lung cancer
and heart disease.
• Coughing, dizziness, headaches, skin problems and irritation in
eyes, nose and throat.
• It can have harmful effect on crops, buildings and monuments.
• It causes changes in the climatic conditions.
• It causes holes in the ozone layer.
37. WAYS TO REDUCE AIR POLLUTION
• Plant more trees.
• Use CNG fuel for vehicles and get pollution checks.
• Use of public transport.
• Switch off lights and fans when not in use.
• Avoid burning of wood, coal, polythene and garbage.
• Avoid plastic bags.
• Recycle paper, plastic and other waste.
• Educating people about reducing air pollution.
