SCIENCE CLUBS, NATURE CLUBS
AND ECO CLUBS
PRESENTED BY:
SHIVARATHNA G. R.
B.Ed., 2ND SEM,
RIE, MYSURU
INTRODUCTION:
 Through activities of a science club, learning of science becomes joyful.
 The science club caters freedom for expression, whereas the classroom
atmosphere leads to conformity and repression.
 While actively participating in a science club students organize thought and
translate these in to action and thereby develop a zealous enthusiasm to strive
for the cause of scientific enterprise.
 Mainly the objectives of science club activities are directed to the development
of psychomotor skills.
SCIENCE CLUBS:
 Definitions: A club that offers the pupils an opportunity for facilities which we
does not have in the curriculum. The curriculum work is formal whereas the club
activities are informal.
 It involves two major principles learning by doing and learning by living.
OBJECTIVES:

NATURE CLUBS:
 Communicating with nature is good for a child's psychological and physical well-
being.
 It can help reduce stress, improve concentration and increase time spent being
physically active, according to the American Psychological Association.
ACTIVITIES OF NATURE CLUBS:
Community-Based Activity.
Field Trips.
Nature-Based Arts and Crafts.
Gardening Activities.
ECO-CLUBS
 Eco Clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the
future generation.
 The meaning of an eco-club is a group which works to contribute in improving
environmental conditions.
 They offer programs and activities to encourage others to reduce pollution, plant trees,
and more.
 Ex: National Green Corps.
Activities of eco-clubs:
Motivate the students →plantation of trees.
conservation of water by minimizing the use of water.
Minimum waste generation and waste management.
Awareness to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste
Minimize the use of plastic bags.
Awareness programmes such as Quiz, essay, painting competitions, rally etc. regarding various environmental
issues
Organize Nature Trail in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to know about the Bio-diversity.
CONCLUSION:
 Children are interested in making things, breaking things and handling
things. But the curriculum does not satisfy this natural urge. All these
lead to the need for an organization providing an outlet for the pent up
emotions of children and for pooling their energies. An organization
which caters for the calculation of scientific attitude and genuine interest
in science and also can supplement the work of the classroom and give
the syllabus a practical dimension may be called as clubs.
