Question one
1. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions
of real media products?
By Shannon Hartshorne
2. Poster:
Our poster is conventional like any other horror poster.
It includes the main image which fills 2/3rds of the
page. The main masthead is centred and large which
will attract the audience as it is clear. We have the
tagline of the poster the masthead as that is
conventional. Under the title of the poster we have the
credits, release date and this will allow them to know
more about the film.
I have also included a PG rating, the logo of our
production company and a moon to also represent the
production company. Also a 4 star rating was added to
entice the audience.

3. Magazine:
The magazine is also similar to others as it is
conventional. The main image is also centred. The
magazine title is along side the image, it is large and
clear for the audience. The masthead is also along side
the main image. The masthead is in red so it stands out
for the audience to remember. We included 4 star rating
on the magazine also so it links with the poster and has
continuity. The poster includes buzz words to catch the
audiences attention and make the trailer seem even
more interesting. We also included a price, barcode,
issue number, issue month, cast and other relatable
films.

4. Titles:
Our trailer includes titles such as
‘based on true events’, ‘a lonely
soul…’, ‘can you not see her?’, ‘can
you not hear her?’, ‘all the
undiscovered secrets’, the trailers
title and the cast at the end. We
used them to show the audience
that this was a trailer for a film and
these are the conventions which are
needed to ensure it is traditional.
We used a variety of different titles,
we used narrative, title examples,
questions, credits, film masthead.
We used the titles we did as it added
effect.
OUR LITTLE
SECRET
5. Location:
Our location used in the trailer are similar are similar
to other horror films for example the dark
secluded/isolated room also the outside location. At
first we used the location on the field to make
everything seem normal but then we changed location
to the drama room aka dark room to add the more
creepy feel. The last scene we added was at the stairs
located in Smith’s Wood Sports College we decided to
add in the death scene when Mary gets pushed down
the stairs.
