2. Introduction
The present work has the object to explain what is a paragraph, the elements it should have, the types
of paragraphs, definitions and example.
3. ¿What is paragraphs?
The paragraph is the minimum unit of writing that explains and develops the meaning of an idea. A
paragraph generally has several sentences, all of which contain the same keyword or key idea that
controls the information in the rest of the paragraph.
All prose text is organized into paragraphs. In turn, each paragraph by one or more sentences, starts
with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Paragraphs can be identified visually by the use of
indentation, or by a larger blank space between them. The paragraph is used to change the subject in
conversations.
5. Types of paragraphs
1. Normal or ordinary paragraph
It is the paragraph that has all the complete lines, except the first and the last. The first line is
indented, and the last one is usually shorter than the rest.
2. Paragraph in block
It is the one that has the lines all occupied by words, even the last one, and it goes without
indentation. It is a complete justification for the paragraph that results in a compact block of words.
3. German or modern paragraph
It is the paragraph that has all the lines filled, except the last one, which is shorter than the rest.
Therefore, it is a paragraph without indentation.
4. Spanish Paragraph
It is the paragraph that has all the complete lines except the last one that is centered.
It is a kind of paragraph that is little used although it can be applied to the last paragraph of a chapter.
In novels, at the end of the book, before "End", it is another good place to use this paragraph, etc.
6. Example of some paragraphs
Narrative: That night was the most anticipated by the young quinceanera, but when she entered the
room she slipped with a banana peel that a young man from a previous story threw, breaking his sash
and jumping his huge and flaccid auctions; but the most shameful thing was the crushing of the huge
balls of paper that he carried on his chest.
Descriptive: The leafy oak stands erect and proud in the middle of the park where every afternoon
the children play around it. The mothers rest on the wooden benches watching their little ones play
while the imposing tree provides them with good shade, which helps them cool off on hot spring
afternoons.
Argumentative: The economics professor, Fernando Correa Méndez, says that the habits that
workers have is to spend all their money, this economist, ensures that if the administration of income
is adequate, half or a third of the salary can be saved. This regardless of the income you have,
because when you can not have an income higher than the income, this indicates that you are not in a
position to save money and is outside this margin.
Espository: Going to college can be expensive. First, you have to pay college tuition, it can cost more
than $ 10,000 per semester. A room can cost $ 400 per month. Books and materials are other
expenses to consider. Additional personal expenditures have to be consider; food, parking and money
for going out increase the budget.
