• It is a brief fictional prose
narrative that is shorter than
a novel and that usually
deals with only a few
characters.
Textbooks
• It is a book used in the
study of a subject.
Letters
• It is a written message
conveyed from one person
to another through a
medium.
Newspaper
• publication usually issued daily,
weekly, or at other regular times
that provides news, views,
features, and other information
of public interest and that often
carries advertising
Non-linear text
1. It refers to the text that does not need to be read from the beginning to
the end.
2. It is a text combined with visual elements.
3. In non-linear text, focus is on specific information. Less attention is
given to grammar and style.
Examples: Flowcharts, knowledge maps and encyclopedia.
Flowcharts
• It is a type of diagram that
represents a workflow or process.
Knowledge maps
• It is a visual aid that shows a main idea or concept and
shows information about what the creator wants to show
to the viewers.
Encyclopedia
• It is a book or set of books
giving information on many
subjects or on many aspects
of one subject and typically
arranged alphabetically.
