This multimedia reflection is a presentation of my professional growth and development in edu210. It highlights some of my connections and networks within my PLN, and showcases the beginnings of a great professional tool.
2. At the beginning of the semester, I did not have a PLN
to call my own. This presentation will take you
through the various stages of my PLN development,
and personal growth.
3. Creation
• The next few slides will take you through the
creation aspect of my PLN, starting with my
blog, as well as using my Twitter and Edmodo
to expand and enhance my professional
development.
5. How my PLN has
Grown.
At the beginning of the semester, I
did not use twitter as an
educational tool. By the end of this
semester, I have followed 25+ more
educational
members/organizations, and have
had some followers in return.
6. 3 Influential PLN
Connections
While I consider every one of my connections valuable, the three most influential
individuals/organizations I have followed are:
#1) UN Education First – This organization develops and implements education initiatives
worldwide, and strives for Global Education. I find this organization extremely beneficial,
because it motivates me to become a better teacher, and to spread the word on how
important education is.
#2) WabKinew– This might come as a surprise to some, but WabKinew is one of my all time
favorite First Nations activists and teacher. He has developed Cree language apps for
students, teaches the public about First Nation diversity, and is an advocate for change.
#3 Edutopia–This organization is significantly influential, because it runs trial and errors tests
on what technologies work/don’t work in classroom settings, and how teachers can be
successful in the areas of teaching and technology. Very informative.
7. My Contributions
Throughout this semester, I have
been involved in many online
discussion chat groups/opinion
polls. I have learned a lot from
these discussion groups, as well as
evaluating my peers FlexLabs as I
have found that everyone takes
direction differently, and the
diversity in the classroom is
abundant. It was really neat making
those connections!
