2. WHAT IS DISCIPLINE
Discipline is the suppression of base desires, and is usually
understood to be synonymous with self-control restraint and
control. Discipline is when one uses reason to determine the
best course of action regardless of one's desires, which may be
the opposite of excited. Virtuous behaviour can be described
as when one's values are aligned with one's aims: to do what
one knows is best and to do it gladly.

3. THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCIPLINE
Disciplining children is important to create a safe and fun learning
environment. Discipline requires knowledge, skill, sensitivity and self-
confidence; like any art, it is something that one will acquire through training
and experience; it becomes easier with practice. Many people confuse
discipline with classroom management; discipline is one dimension of
classroom management and classroom management is a general term.
Discipline can also have a positive influence on both the individual and
classroom environment.
