A monohybrid cross is a cross between two organisms with different variations at one genetic locus of interest. The character(s) being studied in a monohybrid cross are governed by two or multiple variations for a single location of a gene. An example of a monohybrid cross is the cross between tall pea plants and dwarf pea plants. An example of a dihybrid cross is the cross between pea plants with yellow round and green wrinkled seeds.
