● The assessment asks students to consider “ how mindfulness positively affects the body”. Teacher
may need to explain what it means to positively affect something.

● ( 4 minutes) Students read scenarios and answer whether the
situations demonstrates mindfulness or not.
● ( 1 minute) Call on student to read slide - The benefits of

to corresponding “sticky” images.
● ( 1 minute) Call on student to read slide - Mindful Breathing a
form of mindfulness
● ( 5 minutes) Students complete breathing exercise

How do you feel after mindful breathing?” (use the
“Collaborate” feature in nearpod)
Activity - Zumba 8 minutes ● ( 1 minutes) Call on students to read slides

● Teacher directs students to find images using Google’s safe
search. If your school’s network settings prohibit students
from searching, the teacher should pre populate a google
doc with various images for students to use as a resource
Assessment Part II 7 minutes ● (1 minute) Teacher introduces the writing prompt,
What is mindfulness ? How does mindfulness positively
affect your body ?
● ( 6 minutes) Students write a response to the following
prompt: What is mindfulness ? How does mindfulness
positively affect your body ? ( on Nearpod use the “Open
Response” feature)
Summarizer 3 minutes ( 3 minutes) Students summarize the lesson key point by
completing a “fill-in the blank” exercise.
● Mindfulness means to slow down and focus on one thing. The
benefits of mindfulness are improved mood, decreased
stress, and improved health.
