2. Corso base di inglese - Lezione n. 3
Possessives are used to express a possession and we can form them in the following way:
Possessore + ‘s + cosa posseduta
3.1 POSSESSIVES – Genitivo sassone
For example/ per esempio:
- persona o animale
Es: My brother’s car is red ("La macchina di mio fratello è rossa")
- nazione o città
Es: London’s squares are large ("Le piazze di Londra sono grandi")
- avverbi di tempo
Es: Today’s match is at 4.00 ("La partita di oggi è alle 4")
- espressione di distanza e peso
Es: It’s a 700 kilometer’s journey ( "E’ un viaggio di 700 Km")
- pronomi indefiniti
Es: Everyone’s body temperature is 37° C ("La temperatura corporea di tutti è di 37°
C")
3. Corso base di inglese - Lezione n. 3
Rules - Regole
Es. The student’s apartment (L’appartamento degli studenti)
Es: John and Mary’s parents are in Sweden.
Es: John’s and Mary’s parents are in Sweden.
1)la preposizione of. - Es. The cover of the book - La copertina del libro
- house
- restaurant
- shop / store

Es: Where is the nearest chemist’s ? ("Dov’è la farmacia più vicina ?")
