1) We use like, love, hate etc. followed by a gerund to express likes and dislikes. Usiamo I
verbi ‘love, like, hate etc.’ per descrivere le cose che ci piace o non ci piace fare.

I like going to the cinema
I don’t mind watching horror movies.

I hate driving at night
Spelling rules for the gerund (infinitive +ING) :
Cook cooking
Play playing
Dance dancing (e + ING)
Shop shopping (one vowel + one consonant= double consonant + ING)
2) We can also use a noun after the verbs (love, like, hate etc.) Possiamo anche usare un
sostantivo dopo I verbi love, like etc.
For Example:
I love chocolate. I hate bananas.
3) The use of ‘to’ plus the infinitive is also used in particular situations. Alle volte I verbi ‘love,
like, hate etc.’ possono essere seguiti dal ‘to’ più l’infinito del verbo.
