4. HIS TEACHINGS: From Where?
● Buddha’s teachings have been reconstructed from stories,
found mainly in the Sutta Pitaka.
● Some stories describe Miraculous powers…. Others,
suggest that Buddha used to convince people through
reason and persuasion.
5. Buddhist Philosophy
● According to Buddhist Philosophy, the world is transient
(annica) and constantly changing; it is soulless (anatta) as
there is nothing permanent or eternal in it. Within this
transient world, sorrow (dukkha) is intrinsic to human
existence.
● It is following the path of moderation between severe
penance and self-indulgence that human beings can rise
above these worldly troubles.
● In the earliest forms of Buddhism: Whether God exists or not
was irrelevant

rather than of Divine origin.
He advised kings and gahapatis, to be humane and ethical.

Buddha is located in

meters tall seated figure
carved into a red rock
cliff face, which is the

juncture of three rivers
hoping that it would tame
the dangerous currents

Myanmar, the
Monywa Buddha
measuring over 90
meters in length with
a hollow interior and
gold and white
exterior is the largest
statue of a reclining
Buddha in the world.
The reclining pose of
the Buddha depicts
his death and passing
to nirvana.

Kong the Tian Tan
Buddha, made from
bronze with a steel
frame, 34 meters
tall and 250 tons in

12. Inspired by the Statue of
Liberty, N.T. Rama Rao
commissioned the giant
Buddha, pedestaled on
Lake Hussain Sagar,
Hyderabad, in
Telangana, India. It is
made out of solid white
granite and wears cloth
robes with one hand
raised, and palm facing
forward. 10 people were
killed when the statue
fell sideways in efforts to
erect it.
13. I am not the first Buddha who came upon Earth, nor shall I be
the last.
In due time, another Buddha will arise in the world – a Holy
One, a supremely enlightened One,
endowed with wisdom in conduct, auspicious, knowing the
universe, an incomparable leader of men, a master of angels
and mortals.
