Rock and Roll started after the year 1955 with its roots being in Blues,
Gospel, and Jazz. This influenced vocal music, which was popular with the
African American population. Hep Harmony which added rhythm and harmony was sung by groups such as The "Mills Brothers" and the "Ink Spots".
Small Swing Bands or Jump Bands featured saxophone soloists and repeated phrases. These city style blues featured singers such as Joe Turner, Dina
Washington, T–Bone Walker, and composer–singer Percy Mayfield.

John Lennon (10/9/40–12/8/80), led the Beatles as the lead singer and songwriter. Also writing the songs for the Beatles was Paul McCartney (6/18/42–
present). George Harrison (2/25/43–present) added to the sounds of the Beatles.
In 1962, Ringo Starr (7/7/40–present) became the drummer for the band. They were now known as The Beatles, (the Fab Four).
Their first song "Love Me Do" was recorded in 1962, after Ringo joined the band. In 1964, the Beatles 'invaded' the United States, by bringing their
music here and driving the crowds wild. The Beatles bridged the generation gap and language barriers. They were trend setters, with their style of dress
and hair changing the face of the young people. They also influenced the use of hallucinogenic drugs, Indian music, and Eastern mysticism.
The Beatles last concert was in San Francisco in 1966. The band broke up in 1970. Lennon went on to record solo albums and with his wife, Yoko Ono.

Thesis: Catherine Davis' "After a Time" and Robert Plant's "Stairway to Heaven" performed by Led Zepplin both focus on death and rebirth, the fact
that no matter what we possess, we can't change this.
First supporting point: "After A Time" establishes a deliberate dark, dismal tone, leading us to see that eventually the healing will begin. In Davis's

Stairway to Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin one of the most influential bands of all time, with over 200 million albums sold, Led zeppelin took the 70s by
storm. Despite being beat down by critics the fans loved the music Led Zeppelin put out. Before their big come up bands like the Beatles were living
in the lime light of fame. Led Zeppelin set quite a few records in their time, one being "Stairway to heaven" the most played song in all radio history.
Led Zeppelin all started with guitarist Jimmy Page. Before Page was apart of a band known as "The Yardbirds" along with Jeff Beck and Eric
Clapton. But sadly "The Yardbirds" had spilt by 1968 and went their separate ways. With that happening Page had set out to create a new band.
Jimmy Page had some trouble when it came to finding new members for his band. Page had asked singer Terry Reid to join but he was unavailable but
Reid had recommended Robert Plant, who then later suggested drummer John Bonham, and last but not least Page asked John Paul Jones to join the

Performed on a Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano, the newest studio release from a long time favorite musician of mine; Rick Wakeman. His
newest release is at the time of this writing, charting. Out about a month ago. Fifteen tracks, with Rick's piano playing being the only thing you'll hear
on the record. Cover songs all but one, Wakeman's Dance of the Damselflies, and a song that I can't count as an original Wakeman composition, for
the sole reason of it being credited to a dear friend of his, Jon Anderson. That song, a Yes hit called 'Wonderful stories". My take has always been...
He was Yes' keyboard player. That is until he quit in 1974. Had not one, but three of the coolest solo records ever, all released back to back, as
popular today, as they were back then; The Six Wives of Henry The VIII (1973), Journey To The Centre of the Earth (1974), and The Myths
Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (1975). And because of all the repeated plays I gave them over the decades, I now have
50 to 100 Rick Wakeman CD's in my music collection; studio, live, and greatest hits. Including to everything he did with Yes, and various other
musicians; David Bowie/Elton John. Just to name a couple. Throw in Black Sabbath, and Cat Stevens. And the list goes on and on. A wonderful career

Opens with a most beautiful version of The Beatles – Help (1965). Two Beatles songs are included on the album with the second one being, Eleanor
Rigby (1966). Both extraordinary pop pieces, and both given a new life by Mr. Wakeman. My guess is that SirPaul McCartney would be very flattered
hearing either piece.

Importance Of Music In My Life
Music has always been a big part of my life. I remember the radio or record player always playing music at home growing up. I sang in the choir at
church and school. I also played the trumpet all through middle school, I was even first chair in eighth grade. Once I was in high school, attending
concerts became a regular outing for me and my friends. I have continued to keep music in my life to this day.
The first period of my life represented is early childhood. I honestly could not think of one song I may have loved between ages 0 to 4. Any music
that I would have listened to would have been what my parents liked at the time. I decided to look up hit songs for the year I was 4 years old.
Looking through the list I remembered that I loved Chicago's song "Saturday in the Park". Every summer we traveled to Maine growing up to visit
my Grandma, and this song was my favorite. I specifically remember playing in the garage and listening to this song over and over again. Every
time I hear this song I think of Summer and all the fun I had growing up. It was released in 1972, but was still popular when I was in this time period.
I still love it.
The second period of my life represented is elementary school. I loved Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". These were the days of listening to
the top forty with Casey Kasem on Saturday morning and taping songs you liked. I had to tape this song so I could listen to it over and over. I loved

Considered an aviation pioneer by many, Billy Mitchell (1879–1936) recognized the potential of air power as an integral part of national defense. His
strong beliefs led to a court–martial for insubordination in the 1920s. The key role played by air defense during the Second World War II vindicated
him. William ("Billy") Mitchell was born in Nice, France, on December 28, 1879. He was the eldest of ten children born to John Lendrum
Mitchell, who came from a politically active Wisconsin family, and Harriet Mitchell. When Mitchell was three years old, the family returned to
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Growing up in Milwaukee, Mitchell spoke French just as fluently as English. He and his siblings also learned German,
Spanish, and Italian. In The Billy Mitchell Affair, biographer Burke Davis noted that Mitchell was "small, wiry, and utterly fearless." His nanny
spent a good deal of her time trying to control him. When he was told not to climb the family greenhouse, Mitchell attempted to scale it on an almost

I had never been to Harney Street Tavern. Well, unless you count those numerous days I practically lived as a teenager at The Antiquarium. Many a
day I sat in a overstuffed chair, a cat in my lap, reading a book or chatting with Tom Rudloff (RIP) about becoming a writer someday. He encouraged
me all the time saying it was 'art' not just writing and with that I went to college to do what I love...art.
If I hadn't recognized the building I would have had a difficult time finding The Harney Street Tavern due to the low lit signage. Although at night,

Philips would take a while to realize that a huge prospect was about to enter his life and studio. Elvis Presley, a young truck driver, had come in to
record two songs at a cost of $8 as a birthday present for his mother. Philips was actually out of the office so his secretary Marion Keisker recorded
Presley. Foreseeing talent, Keisker put aside a copy of the acetate master. Keisker continued to advocate to Philips the idea of investing in Presley's
commercially promising musical potential. Philips eventually agreed to give Presley a try and matched him up with local guitarist Scotty Moore and
bass player Bill Black. This group became quite successful, and together, under the direction of Philips, helped to influence and redefine the
'rockabilly' genre of music at the time. It shows Sun's success that by '61, Phillips was able to buy a Presto 900–P recorder. Elvis Presley's presence at
the label allowed Philips to once again upgrade his system, this time opting for a Tube 76–D broadcast console and two new Ampex 350 tape
recorders. The growing sophistication of his studio rig is a testimony to the success that he accomplished with such sensations as Presley. He delayed

Malcolm Gladwell Plagiarism
Malcolm Gladwell wrote "Sometheing Borrowed: Should a charge of plagiarism ruin your life" in "What the Dog Saw: And other Adventures."
Gladwell's main point in his story is that plagiarism is unfair and dishonest. He then goes on to discuss the many facets of plagiarism; like melodies in
songs and picnic tables. Gladwell wants people who are interested in the arts and humanities to read this because he pulls pieces of music, art and
literature to use as examples since plagiarism is a key component in these areas. This is because people change up others work and make it into
their own for the world to develop and grow. Malcolm Gladwell explains that when an idea goes public, people are allowed to copy it and make
others work into "a grander cause." Overall I think Gladwell was trying to focus on why ideas are plagiarized and their reasoning behind it, rather than
just focusing on the fact that it was plagiarized. Gladwell starts off by introducing a psychiatrist by the name of Dorothy
Lewis whose work and life had been amalgamated in a Broadway play called
"Frozen." Lewis's friends had continuously nagged her to go see the play, after a short few months she received a phone call from the theatre
production of "frozen" asking her if she would do a talk–back after the play. Before she accepted to do it she asked if she could read the script. After

No matter how many times you ask somebody to give you an interpretation of what the song Stairway to Heaven really perseveres, you will get a
different answer every time. The song Stairway to Heaven was written by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Throughout all these years, still every time you ask an
individual about their interpretation to the song, they will respond differently. The reason being because the songs represents many different values

Music is an Art form that has been around since humans were created All around the world music is played in many different forms and styles. As
early as the 1950 's, a new style of music was being created in the Untied States, one that forever changed the world. Not only did it bring a
completely different sound, but it changed the way people acted, dressed, and even people 's lifestyles. This new style of music became known as
Rock and Roll. It drew many from a one–way path to a sea of possibilities musically. Me being a music lover really enjoyed the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame site. Rock and Roll have sheltered and comforted me in many times of needs. For as long as I can remember as a kid and throughout my painful
adolescence years, and also as an adult, it has inspired me to appreciate the music of all kinds throughout the years.
One memory that music helped me get through was an altercation with my step dad, who was very mean and abusive towards all of us kids growing
up, was a song from Aerosmith. I grew up loving Aerosmith but, when the song "Janie 's Got a Gun" was released I would play it over and over as an
escape mechanism. My step–Dad sure didn 't like it and the older I got, I think he knew I was fed up and started fighting back which made him leave
me alone.
Aerosmith was an inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. They formed the group in 1970 with Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Steven
Tyler, who then was the drummer.
