In English there are many words that are easily
confused. It is always important to learn how to make
the difference between them.
In this lesson, we will look at this situation
related to the vocabulary of WORK.
I. Introduction
JOB = ( chab)
A specific duty, role, or
function that we do at our
work.
For example:
My job at Sodimac is to
clean the items.
------ Trabajo (actividad)-----
WORK: (= uerk)
To perform work or fulfill duties
regularly for wages or salary
For example:
I work at Sodimac.
--------- Trabajo-----------
Resign: (ri sain) ----------- renunciar---------
To give up one's office or position willingly.
For example:
Yesterday, I resigned at the company because I
got a better job opportunity.
Retire: (ri tai er) --------------- Jubilarse ------------------
Someone who concludes one's working or professional career.
Most of the time because they have worked there all their life and
want to take a break.
For example: After working for sixty years, my grandfather decided
to retire and go live in the countryside.
EARN: (= ern)
We use the verb earn when
we get money in return for
labor or services.
For example:
I earn two thousand dollars
a month as a secretary.
------------ Obtener ------------
-
WIN: (= uin)
When you are successful or
victorious in a contest or
conflict.
For example:
I won the race yesterday, I feel
so proud.
