Four Rules to Being Short
Rule #1: Do not EVER try to reach for something high if you can just barely touch it with your
fingertips. I say this because you'll have to stretch as much as you can and eventually you'll feel like
you pulled something in your foot. Trust me, if this happens to you, then it will take a while for your
foot to stop hurting so if need be, climb or use a step stool. It doesn't have to be a certain thing. Use
a chair or wood block maybe. As long as you can step up on it, reach what you need, and not have a
fear of falling over then it's a step stool. Now, don't go about stepping on just anything. Don't even
try to put all your weight on something that might break under you. I don't even need to tell you the
consequences on that. Either you already know it, or you can figure it out on your own. Reaching
things in upper cabinets presents a unique set of challenges. Have you ever tried climbing on the
counter at 6:30 in the morning? It's a death trap waiting to happen, but if you're short and hungry,
you'll take your chances. First off, you have to jump up and be able to hold yourself while you lift
your legs and plant them under you so you sit on your knees. This is so that you can elevate yourself
if you still can't reach what you want. Obviously, opening the cabinet door is tricky because you're
right in front of it so you have to be careful about how you bend so there is room to open it up. At
this point, you have a high risk of falling backwards so make sure

Why Should The Manager Be Asking? Essay
Not all questions are alike and you don't want to use the precious time for asking the wrong
questions. If you want to make the most of the meeting, you need to know what are the key
questions to ask.
Since both managers and employees should be asking questions at the meeting, we've split this
section in to two. You can find the best questions for both managers and employees.
What should the manager be asking?
The following are some example questions a manager should be asking at one–on–ones:
What would you like to focus on at this meeting?
As mentioned above, you want the employee to lead the conversation and so it is a good idea to ask
the above questions. It helps to kick start the conversation and you can focus your own questions
accordingly.
How did last week go? What did you learn during last week?
You want to ask about the employee's work week to make sure you see how well they are doing.
Their answer can tell you a lot about the way they prepare for the work and point out any problems
they might have.
You also want your employees to be constantly improving their skills and asking about what new
they have learned can help you streamline your management style as well.
How are you preparing for the week ahead?
As well as asking about what the employee has done, you also want to focus on the future. Ask
about their plans and give tips if they seem lost.
What has inspired and motivated you in the past week?
Keep asking about the employee's inspiration and

Unit 19– Developing Teams in Business (D1)
An evaluation of your own performance– what you did well/what you could have done better?
Throughout all of the tasks that I took part in, I believe that I performed well in some of them but
then in others I could have performed much better. Throughout all of the tasks I believe that I
participated as much as possible in order to get the tasks completed, participation was important for
the team because of the limited numbers within the team, if I didn't participate as much as possible
then the team may have struggled to complete all of the tasks. I always try to participate as much as
possible within all of the tasks, if I don't then I feel like I have let the team down and could have
done better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another strength of the team was our ability to come up with a range of different ideas and then
working as a team to improve on the ideas, this strength was important to use because we needed to
come up with a range of ideas for all of the tasks that we were involved in. if we were unable to
come up with a lot of ideas for each task then we may have struggled to complete some of the tasks
that we had been set, most of the tasks involved us to work as a team to discuss the ideas that each
of us had, we made sure that everyone was listening and participating during each part of the task in
which we had to discuss the ideas. The final strength of the team was the overall participation of the
team, within all of the tasks every team members made sure that they were participating as much as
possible with the role in which they had been set, if all the team members were not participating as
much as possible then it could result us in failing some of the tasks that we had been set because in
each task we didn't have a big time limit in which we had to come up with ideas, put these ideas into
practice and then come up with any alternative ideas that may be needed in order for us to complete
the task.
As well as the strengths of the team we had our weaknesses as well, the first weakness of the group
was we sometimes struggled to agree on the ideas that had been put forward, this was because other
team members thought that

Courage : A Different Version Of Yourself
Since you are reading an article on how to reinvent yourself, I 'm going to assume that there are a
few traits that you also need to exhibit. This is because, for the most part, we don 't reinvent
ourselves into someone worse than who we are. We want to reinvent ourselves and to someone who
is better, more capable, stronger, and more true to themselves, and there are some very common
traits of great people.
Therefore, some traits you need to really focus on and do more are:
– Courage: In order to become a different version of yourself. You have to be courageous. You can 't
let fear hold you back from doing what you need to do or acting how you need to act. You can 't let
other people make you feel bad for wanting to reinvent yourself (and I guarantee you that some
people will try!) Hold your head up high and remind yourself of how brave you are as often as
possible.
– Patience: Don 't get upset with yourself if you don 't fully feel like you are becoming you want to
be. Reinventing yourself doesn 't happen overnight. It takes time to get comfortable in a new routine
and in a new environment, and even if you are acting as if you are a great dancer, for example, you
may not have the skill developed yet to actually be a great dancer. If you catch a glimpse of yourself
in the mirror, then you may be quick to tell yourself that things are not working out and revert back
to your old self. But it 's important to have patience and remember that you can reinvent yourself,

Karate Test Essay
I stared down at my hands, trying to control the shaking. My breathing came out slowly, if it came
out at all. I felt like bursting into tears. I stared at the boards in front of me. My head was spinning,
and my mind was racing. I couldn't believe I had missed that break.
I had practiced this break time and time again. It was my best break of all. Normally, my foot went
through the board like a hot knife through butter. I could break double boards with that sidekick and
not blink an eye or break a sweat. But now–now that everything was on the line, my foot jammed
the board long before it should have penetrated.
My hands were still shaking furiously. I jumped from foot to foot, trying to shake off the first two
misses. Two misses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And my foot stopped–again.
I stared at the board in disbelief. I knew the crowd was staring at me exactly the same way. I even
heard my mom gasp. I know I did. My board holder handed me back my board, fully intact. I
accepted his hesitant offering in a daze. With a clouded head, I silently took my seat at the back of
the room with all of the other candidates. I felt soft pats on the back and heard whispers in my ear:
"It'll be okay, honey. You'll get it next time."
All that I could manage in response was a quick glance, a forced half–smile, or a simple nod. I knew
that I couldn't speak. If I opened my mouth, all that would come out would be sobs. Even if I didn't
have my rank, I still had my pride, and I absolutely refused to let my classmates and my students see
me cry.
There was only one person in the world that was allowed to see my tears that day, and as soon as we
hit the parking lot and my mom put her arm around me, the flood could not be dammed.
I cried until there wasn't a single tear left, and then I cried some more. I didn't know what to do.
As long as I had been taking karate at that school, I had never failed so miserably. I didn't want to
accept it.
But, as it often did with many bad feelings, a big cone of Graeter's double chocolate chip ice cream
helped to heal my sorrow, and from there I just had to suck it up.
Two weeks later was even harder. It was the rank

Perspectives on Wellness Essay
What is wellness? "Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward
a healthy life. Wellness is also a process for change and growth" (Health Topic – What is wellness?).
To have acceptable wellness you should have an equal amount of social, emotional/mental, and
physical health. I, myself, believe that I have an okay wellness, I mean not like full wellness but just
enough to pass I'll say. But how am I living in wellness?
There are different ways of living with wellness. My social health is getting better. I'm doing my
best to be social with people. I occasionally like talking to people, but it's better than not talking at
all. My mental/emotional health I would say is good. Consistently I ... Show more content on

I mostly have acquaintances, people who I would talk to but won't tell them personal stuff. Anyways
my physical health isn't the best. I keep having of back pains, and sometimes chest pains that hurt
like crazy. That is why my resolution is to exercise. I'm starting in Spring where I can do much more
stuff like play sports and go walking. It's also a great thing that I'm in gym, if I wasn't I wouldn't
know about all the problems that could happen to me if I kept being lazy. I judge my behaviors have
something to do with my problems.
It is important to think about your behaviors because you need think about how it will affect you
and the other person. If you call someone ugly and say just kidding you don't know how that person
will feel about you saying that. The person might be laughing now, but later they will look back at
that comment and start thinking about if they are ugly or not. There are people who can take jokes,
there are people who can't. Just put together who is and isn't. There are times in class when you are
learning something, and there is that one person who wants to talk in class when you're learning.
They aren't thinking about how they are making others feel, just themselves. When you say
something they start getting defensive for no reason. That's why you don't say something. You can't
do anything but tell the teacher, or just learn from them. Don't be the person who will hurt others
education. They aren't hurting anyone

Personal Narrative : A Short Story
I quietly let tears run down my face as my mother viciously beat me with her own hands. As she
throws me on the floor, her foot makes hard contact with my back barely missing my spine. It feels
as if she just threw a hundred bricks at me. "Be quiet! I'm watching the game!" my mother's
boyfriend yells from the living room while he lights another cigarette. I lay there with an
emotionless expression on my face as my mother begins throwing whatever she can grab at me. She
laughs as she looks at me lay on the kitchen floor silently weeping. "Pathetic" she says loud enough
for me to hear. I close my eyes as she picks me up and takes me past her boyfriend and out the back
door. I suddenly feel cold, and as I open my eyes, I was thrown into the ... Show more content on

She pushes the back of my head with her hand into the cold water. "Come on Airi, that face has to
be healed by Monday" I vaguely hear her say. I can feel her hand let go of the back of my head. I
lifted my head so that I could breathe I waited for her to walk away. The only thing I can think of is
when I'm finally old enough to leave this horrible place. Monday came and I have to go back to
school. I left my mother's house before sunrise, before she would wake up. I walked to the park
alone. My boots made a crunching sound as I walked on top of the fresh blanket of snow. I set my
bright red backpack down next to the swingset and sat down on a swing myself. The sun was still
rising so it was nice to look up at the pink and orange sky. I close my eyes so I can feel the breeze
run through my hair. Although I know it's impossible, I just can't help but hope that I'd dissolve into
dust and fly away with the wind to somewhere far away. I open my eyes to find a group of kids
walking with their school bags, so I grab my things and begin to walk in the direction of the school,
assuming it was about to begin. I'm greeted by a rush of kids running into the school building or
catching up with their friends.I Just continue to silently walk to my fifth grade classroom. I could
feel everyone's eyes watching me but I don't care. I sit down and wait for the teacher to begin the

Analysis Of The Song ' Africa ' By Toto Essay
Personally, one of my all–time favorite songs is "Africa" by Toto, which is featured on his self–titled
and fourth album Toto: IV. This song is one of my favorites because it brings me a sense of nostalgia
as I used to listen to this song all of the time as a child. Now, despite there being no actual reason
behind liking the song besides its nostalgic effects, I absolutely adore it, and every time this song
comes on, I get super excited and sing along no matter where I am. I could be out in public, which
has happened before, and I will immediately stop when "Africa" comes on and begin to sing the
song at the top of my lungs because it is just so catchy and it brings me back to the good old days
when things were much simpler. One specific interpretation of the song that I believe could be taken
to heart and represent me is that the song is actually about cleansing (i.e. the rain) and going back to
the origins of life, or in this case Africa, to where life began for this man so that he could start over
and get away from the world for a while. This, I feel, represents me in that sometimes I wish I could
get away from the world and technology for a bit too, and like I addressed earlier go back to much
simpler times, but that's just one perspective of the song as it has been interpreted in many different
ways. Now another song that I love, which has similar effects to "Africa" is "We Didn't Start the
Fire" by Billy Joel, which is featured on his album Storm Front. This song,

the 1930's America there was no pension schemes like there are now also Candy has a disability, he
has one hand. Crooks is a victim of society and time for the reason that he is black, racism was high

It is lonely because they had no family to go home to at Christmas because of that, what the ranch
workers did was spend their 50 bucks on whisky and in cathouses. The characters of Whit and
Carlson are typical examples of "guy's who live on ranches" because all they did was spend there
money at the end of the month on whisky and in cathouses and also they were on short term work
and they lived in tough conditions. Lennie is mentally retarded and is dependant on George because
he is simpleminded. Lennie needs George for support and basic survival "Lennie, for god shakes
don't drink that so much u gonna be sick like you was last night" that is a part of him being
supportive telling him not to drink the water because the water was contaminated. Lennie is a "nice
fella" however when he gets in trouble he doesn't mean it we know this because in the novel he
constantly says "sorry George" and " I didn't mean no harm" and slim also states that "he is a nice
fella". Lennie is mentally disabled and he can't control his strength, we are shown how powerful
Lennie is when he crushes Curly' s hand "Leggo his hand, Lennie Leggo. Slim, come help me while

Analysis Of ' I Lean Over The Chasm Rail '
I lean over the chasm rail. No one is here, so I shouldn 't be seen. I am wearing a black T–shirt, but I
haven 't looked at my arms. I have decided I will just take a look. I move my arm so I can examine
the self–inflicted wounds. God, I am so stupid. Why would I choose to stay here if I hate it so
much? Why am I still living if I hate myself? I run a hand over my scars, flinching at some points
because the areas are still tender. Then, I remember why I haven 't just cut a vein, why I haven 't just

Amity, because most Amity annoy the living hell out of me, but there 's something different about
her; she 's brave, but she is also one of the kindest people I have ever met. She 's from Amity, but
she isn 't annoying. Lex is gorgeous, too. I remember how after the Choosing Ceremony, which was
a few weeks ago, at lunchtime, after all of the transfers changed from the colors of their previous
factions changed into black, I was sitting alone, as always, only this time, I wasn 't sitting alone the
entire half hour. Lex came over, sat down, and we just talked for the remaining minutes. I pull a
pocket knife out of of the pocket in my jacket. What 's so bad about cutting open some of these
scars? God isn 't real, because if he were real, I 'm damn sure he 'd give me a sign, as a way of
saying some crappy shit like, "Hey kid, don 't cut" or something. I laugh out of hysteria. I 'm a

Accountability of Sensitive Items Essay
This essay will be about the importance of keeping the accountability of sensitive items and how the
accountability of sensitive items affects the unit. AR 710–2 and AR 735–5 both cover the Army
policy for property accountability. Some sensitive items are your weapon, military ID card,
communication equipment, etcetera. Sensitive items are anything that can be used by opposing
forces or the enemy to counter attack, weaken forces, and gain information, and so on. People will
sometimes get relaxed or forgettable while not in a combat zone or operation area. If this happens it
is very dangerous due to the fact that enemies are able to obtain any and possibly all of your
sensitive items to gather information or harm you and your unit and ... Show more content on

If this were to happen it could jeopardize the lives of our unit and other units as well.
Another sensitive item would be NVG's or Night Vision Goggles. If you misplace or lose your
Night Vision Goggles then you will not be able to see what is going on around you during the night.
It could also aid the enemy in having the same advantages as you would have at night. This could
potentially harm you or your unit.
Maps and map overlays are also sensitive items because if the enemy were to acquire our map
overlays then they would have knowledge of our battle positions, observation points, where the unit
is located, ammunition points and supplies in general. This could harm you or your unit because the
enemy would know your entire battle plan.
All of these items are important to you and your unit because without them you and your unit are
not fully mission capable and able to carry out the tasks given to you by your chain of command. If
you lose one of your sensitive items it can harm your unit and keep you from completing your
mission properly or at all. It could also prolong your mission until you are able to find what has
been misplaced. It could also put you and your unit in harm's way due to the fact that they would be
looking for the misplaced item and not paying attention to their surroundings.
I made the mistake and left my weapon in the port–a–john during our last field training exercise. If
it had not been found

The Ideal Desert Island Song
Music is the most sensitive language. It is the best to communicate different idea in the shortest
form. At times it does not need to seek help from words even. Music has its own language. Most of
the people believe that every single individual is born with the quality to understand the most
romantic language that is of music. Surprisingly it needs no training as we can see that even infant
can enjoy the music. Who makes them learn about rhythm and beats; perhaps this is one of the
things that create its own understanding within no time. However the taste may vary from one
person to another person and from one situation to another situation. Whatever be the criteria I
believe that the "ain't no reason" by Brett Dennen is the one song that can be termed as the ideal
desert song. This is the song that I would love to listen to this song. What makes a song all time
better song? I believe that music and poetry has no age, it is the reason that we like Shakespeare
even after so many years. We still listen to some old tunes. In the same way "ain't no reason" by
Brett Dennen is one of the songs that should be the ideal desert song, even if I am marooned on a
desert island with only the technology that still allows me to listen to music. If I have to evaluate
this song I would like to share my views that why I like this song so much. There are several
reasons of my liking one of them is the motivational approach of this song. I believe that this is the
song that can provide the

Personal Statement On Communication Skills
Many people are not aware of the communication skills that they lack, most will argue that they
have perfect communication skills. Taking interpersonal communication has taught me that my
skills are very poor. I walked in thinking there was nothing I can learn about communication and
realized that I know little to nothing about communication. Since starting this class I've narrowed
the skills I need to work on to the following four which includes listening, being more supportive
and active, understanding, and improving my self concept. Although all four of these skills are
something I can improve I think listening is my main problem.
When I think of listening I relate it to just hearing the message. I do not follow the process of
listening that was taught in my communication class. Rather than receiving, recalling, rating, and
responding, I often hear and skip right to responding. I do believe that because I don't follow all the
steps I forget easily or do not understand things completely, which leads to me either questioning
later, or just winging it. I also realized that I have selective listening, because of lack of interest in
some conversations I often block out part of the conversation, or lose focus and zone out until the
end of the conversation. By then I know little of what was talked about and only respond to what I
think is most important to me. Another bad habit I have when it comes to listening is my responding
habits, I'm not sure how to respond to most

write an assignment for the course that I am doing at college and that only myself, my course tutor
and maybe an outside assessor for the course would see what was written about the session and that
she could read the assignment before I showed anyone else. I stated that almost everything that was
said to me would be confidential, although working along the B.A.C.P ethical guidelines,
confidentiality may have to be broken if it became clear that serious harm may be caused to others

Jillian started by saying that she was undecided whether or not to end the relationship with Tony as
she felt that if anyone found out, it would end up hurting up his whole family, children included. I
reflected feeling back to Jillian. Here is an example of what was said;
J: I'm in two–minds whether or not to finish it altogether, imagine how the kids would feel if they
found out, everyone would get hurt.
S: So you're feeling unsure as what to do, whether to end the relation ship or not. (reflecting feeling)
J: Yes, I want to keep seeing him but I don't want anyone getting hurt, but I suppose his wife will
find out eventually anyway. (response)
Jillian talked about being mixed up and not being able to decide if she really wanted a relationship
or if she was just scared of being alone. I paraphrased this back to Jillian.
J: I don't think I want a proper relationship, I mean I don't love him and sometimes it feels like he's
just using me for sex, but I don't want to finish it because then I would be totally on my own.
S: Some times you think that Tony might be using you, but you don't want to end it altogether, in
fear of being on your own. (paraphrase)

The Wonderful Bedroom Essay
The Wonderful Bedroom
Have you ever wondered how something so simple as your bedroom could have so much meaning?
How a place where one usually just sleeps and doesn't return until the next night, could be so special
to someone? It does make one think, once stopped and thought about. To some, it means as much as
a gym does to a basketball player or as much as a tree does to a monkey. But then there are also
those who still think of their bedroom as just a place to sleep and prepare themselves. I guess things
have different meanings for each person, but for many including myself, their bedroom ranks near
the top of the list. A bedroom is meaningful because often it is where one grows up, where lots of
time is spent, and where one can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And what could possibly be a more relaxing place than your own room? It's amazing how one can
concentrate so well in their room, unlike a college student who may have trouble trying to focus
through all of the distractions.
Not only is the bedroom a perfect place to sleep and study, but what if you just want to get away and
relax? In your room, you get to control things for yourself, such as the temperature. It's not like
outside where you can't do anything about the weather, but rather, you choose how cool or warm
you want it. You get to make your bed as comfortable as you wish. This is your space, it's not fit for
anybody else's needs but your own. Ever try and watch what you want on TV while there are four
other members of your family fighting to grab control of the same thing? Well, I have the perfect
solution. Move the TV in your own room and lock the door. It's wonders how many more
opportunities you have when you have your own room. I've always had my own room and pretty

Pillow Method Paper
Pillow Method Paper
The pillow method is a five–step process used to resolve a disagreement or enable two people to
gain understanding from a disagreement. The process involves each individual to look at the
problem through five different perspectives. These steps or perspectives include: "I'm right you're
wrong", "You're right I'm wrong", "both right both wrong", "this issue isn't important", and "the
truth is in all perspectives" (Alder & Proctor, p. 104). The purpose of the pillow method is for each
person to gain insight from each step in the process. By looking at the problem from multiple
perspectives each person gets the chance to enhance their cognitive complexity (Alder & Proctor, p.
104). In this paper I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guns are a major problem in our society and the numbers of these gun–related murders are
continuing to rise. On top of the murders you also have people losing their lives through misfire and
gun–related suicides. The total death toll of all gun–related deaths averages over 30,000 per year in
the U.S. (http://blogs.kqed.org/lowdown/2013/03/07/u–s–gun–deaths–visualizing–the–numbers/). I
believe that enforcing stricter gun laws will contribute to getting these numbers lower. The numbers
do not lie, we as a society have a problem with gun–violence and we need to do something to fix it.
"You're right I'm wrong": This step in the pillow method requires me to look at the problem from
my co–workers point of view while trying to find the flaws in my own argument (Alder & Proctor,
p. 104). Switching perspectives, I can see my coworker's point on how introducing new gun laws
can lead to a slippery slope. There is always the chance that the enforcement of new gun laws could
not have a significant affect on the rate of gun–related deaths in our country. This also could lead to
tougher laws being put in place until we reach the point were guns are banned all together. If guns
were to be banned all together, it would put law–abiding citizens at risk of criminals who disregard
the law. It would put Americans citizens at risk of martial law

Coming Into The Math Activity Essay
Coming into the math activity, I was expecting the activity to go smoothly. I figured the students
would be able to solve multiplication problems easily and would need very little, if any help. I
figured they would be able to follow instructions. That's exactly what happened for the third
graders, but for the younger ones we had to switch to addition instead of multiplication. Overall, it
was a very pleasant activity and it taught me a lot about how children today are learning when it
comes to mathematics. Kids Count threw us a big curveball when they told us we wouldn't be
getting only third graders because after all, our activity was designed for third graders. We decided
to do addition for younger students instead. For one group, we had to implement that. For another
group, we had all third graders and one second grader. She didn't know multiplication so I had to
explain to her that multiplication is adding up numbers. For a problem like 11x5, we added 11x5
times to get 55. I wanted her to write out the answer and work it out herself with the whiteboard but
I realized I couldn't do that– the third graders were getting antsy and were shouting out the answer
when they knew they weren't supposed to because they were tired of waiting. I knew then I had to I
had to write it out while she did the math either in her head or on her finger and make it easy for her.

On the Other Side: Chapter 1
Sticky, warm blood coated her fingers and filled the room with its metallic aroma. She stared dully
at her father's lifeless body as the blood pooled around him, oozing from his open wounds. She had
never felt such overwhelming power and she loved it. She turned her gaze to her trembling mother
in the corner and a menacing smile slowly spread across her face. The fear spurred her on and her
insides churned pleasantly as she watched her own reflection in her mother's wide, frightened eyes
deliver the same punishment as she had to her father. She put the blade in her mouth and tasted her
mother's blood, savoring the flavor as if it were a delicacy. She moaned as she rubbed her bloodied
hands down her curves, smearing her parents' blood down her body with a delightful shiver. "What
have you done?" She faced the newcomer, licking her lips. "Hello, my love." She held up the blade
and watched, almost mesmerized, as the blood dripped thickly from the edge. "Doesn't it just turn
you on?" she moaned as she rubbed her thigh, blood staining her skin. The dark grin reappeared on
her face. "Will you die for me too?" She awoke with tears on her face as the final images of her
slaughtering her best friend faded into memory. She numbly got out of bed to open her window,
allowing the cold air to hit her clammy skin. She looked at her hands, almost expecting to see them
stained red and sighed when pale flesh greeted her. Taking several deep breaths to compose herself,

The Cheapest Farm Fair Money Can Rent
"There she is, Rachel." Grunkle Rob said. "The cheapest farm fair money can rent. I spared every
expense." There was a clicking sound and a yell, and Rachel's twin brother, Garrett, crashed down
next to Grunkle Rob in a cheap Sky Tram carriage.
"I think the Sky Tram is broken," he said. "Also most of my bones."
"Ha ha! This guy." Grunkle Rob chuckled. "Alright, alright. I got a job for you two. I printed up a
bunch of fake safety inspection certificates. Go slap one on anything that looks anything like a
lawsuit."
"Grunkle Rob, is that legal?" Mable asked.
"When there's no cops around, anything is legal." He turned around and walked away. "Soos! How's

"What?"
"'Yeah, I guess so.' It totally worked! All your advice about just going for it; it has finally paid off!"
"When are you going to learn, Garrett? I'm always right about everything." Suddenly, she frowned.
"Hey, do you smell a gallon of body spray?"
"Hey, have any of you dorks seen Wendy around?" asked a voice behind them. At once, the twins
knew it was Garrett's rival, Robbie. They turned around to see a stereotypical moody teenager with
shaggy black hair in a typical eye–covering "emo style" hairdo, pale skin and several piercings in

"And why do you want to know?" Garrett asked agitatedly. Robbie plucked a generous amount of
candy floss from one of Rachel's cones.
"Hey!" Rachel protested.
"I got some super–tight jeans. I just though she might want to check them out." He stretched and so

The Effects Of Advertising On Youth 's Psychology
Professor Jeff Richards once said "Creative without strategy is called art, but creative with strategy
is called advertising." This quote is basically stating that advertisements use a lot of techniques and
strategies to convince and persuade audience. Particularly advertisements use psychological feelings
to persuade you positively or negatively towards a product. Advertising affects youth's psychology
by triggering feelings that make you want to buy their product.
First, corporations work on multiple strategies specifically in the field of pschology that might even
change your life forever positively or negatively .For example, time.com states that "Companies get
you lost and confused. It's not an accident that grocery stores are often laid out unintuitively. Losing
focus makes people spend more on impulse purchases, says expert Martin Lindstrom, who has
conducted studies on marketing strategies. Getting interrupted during shopping also makes you less
price–sensitive, according to research co–authored by marketing professor Wendy Liu at UC San
Diego. That's because when you return to look at products after a distraction, you have a false sense
of having already vetted them, she says." In addition these strategies have been tested by specialists
which can change your life negatively by making you forget what products you actually need and
make you concentrate on things that look attractive. An additional fact from www.enotes says
"Advertising can help us in at least

Personal Note On Pay Attention
3. Pay Attention To Where You Put Your Attention
When you start to become aware of where you put your attention, you can start to change your life.
Why? Because if your attention is on things that make you feel negative, and you become aware of
that, then you can move it to things that help you stay positive.
For instance, if you are at a conference, and you are listening to a brilliant speaker talk about
something you are very interested in, then your attention is on him and you feel good. But, if
someone starts coughing right next to you and can 't stop, then your attention can be pulled towards
them and off the speaker. You may start to get annoyed and upset, which will lead to thoughts about
how much you spent on the conference and how much this person is ruining it! That can lead to a
whole host of negative thoughts, and by the end of the conference you may feel absolutely horrible
about everything that happened.
When you understand that where you put your attention has a big influence over your thoughts and
attitude, you can become aware of when you are focusing on something that doesn 't deserve your
attention and get it back onto something that does. This applies to all things in life, big and small.
4. Get Clear On Your Habits
Are you doing things that help you stay positive or keep you stuck in a negative frame of mind? It 's
important to take a look at your life because your habits and routines can affect how you feel in a
big way.
For instance, the

Along with our first love, comes our first heartbreak. Feelings will emerge when we meet someone
who we are attracted to and/or find interesting. These feelings of infatuation can eventually lead to
love. We find ourselves looking forward to seeing that special someone again and again. Every
conversation is meaningful and each time we see him/her, our surroundings seem like a blur because
we are solely focused on him/her. Every slight touch will be thrilling and tender at the same time.
You are anxious while getting ready for the first date. You make sure you look your best and go over
every detail that will help make a good first impression. You're nervous, but yet so excited to spend
some quality time with that person you can't seem to stop thinking about. In the beginning of any
relationship, everything is wonderful. You are getting to know each other and he/she seems to be
more interesting and funnier than you could've imagined. But as time goes by, their jokes are no
longer as funny. The jokes aren't anything new and they may even become annoying. Instead of
getting to know each other, we may start using terms like "I know you all too well," which is usually
an opening line for an argument about to happen. Unfortunately, relationships end for many
different reasons. When a relationship is cut short due to a decision made by the other person, it
hurts us even more. The feelings of rejection and loneliness will make you not want to see the

Working overtime is easier with jobs you enjoy, and it is more fulfilling. The way to find a job you

You can't know until you try. If you do not have a dream job in mind, or you do not know what you

Sometimes, some people will use a lie to hurt or laugh at someone. For example, when I was in
primary school, my classmate enjoyed to laugh with someone in my class. Maybe they want to
make fun of people, but they always make other people feel really bad of themselves. My teachers
always told us to not do those awful things to other, but they didn't care about that. They still make
fun of other students. I think it is an immoral way to use lie because that would hurt not on the body,
but on the spiritual side! If the spiritual gets hurt, it is harder to recover than physique pain! Also,
my classmate could destroy a person childhood. It is the fact and grave! Lie can destroy everything
not only childhood!
Lies can be one kind of believe and have fun. For example, if the father and mother tell their kids
about Christmas has Santa Claus, who gives Christmas presents to their kids. Some kids usually
believe in Santa Claus. In the future, the kids will know it is not true, but they will think it was a
good memory in their childhood! I think it is a good way to use lie. Lying can be fun, but doesn't use
it in a bad way on other person because it will lets the person get hurt like my classmate.
In my daily life, people always lie for purpose. For instance, my friend would like to transfer to

The Hidden Personality
The essay "He Would Never Hurt a Fly: War Criminals on Trial in The Hague"
Written by Slavenka Drakulic in 2004 recaptures the life in Yugoslavia during the ethnic
War and a crucial period of the dissolving country. This period of life was the 60's and the
generation was healthy there was no formula, cotton diapers, and no danger (Drakulic 1118). The
essay is told by a native of Croatia, who uses her personal familiarity of people and the community
to report using both journalism and fiction. It tells a story of the trial of a trusting young man named
Goran Jelisic' that becomes cultivated by the war going on around him. Goran was a ... Show more

It is debated in the essay that Goran was a narcissistic and antisocial personality determined by two
psychiatrists (Drakulic 1122), or was he a victim of the war that lead him to kill for eighteen days.
Another theory was that he was forced and afraid of his life. I find it ironic that he plead guilty and
was willing to take his punishment with no defense. This essay showed how we all are a victim of
our upbringing and surroundings. It portrays a life of a normal human that had goals and ambitions
but failed due to power of one's inner soul. You can't help but feel that Goran was a victim and not
just a killer that turned, with the blink of an eye into a monster. He pretended to be God and got a
high of showing his power by executing prisoners (Drakulic 1125). He was a young farm mechanic
given a pistol and power that he had never received before, but had longed for his whole life.
It seems like Goran could have been anyone of us from the grocery store clerk, the CEO of a big
corporation, or the stay at home mother that had just had enough. The human race is a complex
breed that at any point we can be pushed over the edge. Looks can be deceiving and while
everything appears to be put together the inner battle within ones soul could portray a monster
waiting to be pushed over the edge. I believe that no one is brought into this world evil; they are a
product of their environments that forms their inner demons.

Spirituality is also very key because I believe without god you can't have true success because you
can do whatever you want but you have to follow gods plan for you without him there would be
nothing. Possessions is how a lot of people measure success but to me it's not really that big of a
determining factor because some value certain things differently then another would. Some things I
can see that might get in the way of my dreams or could potentially be barriers would be maybe
funding because I plan on learning every single thing I can about my passion to make it and do what
I need to do in order to be successful in my field. Myself can sometimes be a barrier because I can
get really lazy at times and know I have something I need to do but just don't do it because I may
not feel like it at the time also I'm a very big procrastinator I wait to the very last minute to do things
when I know I should do them as soon as I get them. College can help with my goals a lot because it
can not only educate me in the ways of my field but can also open a lot of doors for me in the future.
I will learn many things along the way that you never know when u might need someday. College is
really mandatory In todays economy to get a good job that is mainstream and can earn you enough
money to help you survive things aren't getting better and a college degree in some cases can

Concepts of Communication
We all have one life to live. In this life we teach things to others, but we also learn things from
others. We communicate in one way or another to get across with our purpose whatever it might be.
We all have our own communication style, way to listen, communication apprehension, and our way
to resolve conflict. Therefore, I will elaborate in those concepts with my own personal experience
and understanding about them.
There are four different styles of communication private, dominant, sociable, and open. After taking
a style survey I was surprise to know I belong to the open style communication. Open style is a
person that response back other's messages, conversations regarding to their opinions. This type of
person shares information, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once you have understood the process of an effective listener you discover the value and motives of
the people around you. After following those procedures you will notice that your relationship
towards others gets better. When we listen with attention we can learn from others mistakes or
success. Another benefit of effective listener is to relate information with things we normally do or
use, so that later one can review it and remember it. Now, is always easier to listen, and talk
personally with someone. However, when it comes to be on stage the problem begins, this is
communication apprehension. Stage fright begins before we even step up in stage. I sometimes can't
say my words and my hands shake because I am nervous. I react like that when presenting in front
of lot of people. I get nervous also because I think they think negatively about my presentation. Yet,
I combated nervousness by breathing deep before going to the front. When I was taking speech
1311, and I had to present I will breathe deeply to combat mu nervousness. I also stretch my hands
to break the feeling of nervousness. I usually do this when I get nervous singing at the church I go
to. And last but not lease, I think that I might not be the only one feeling that way because the others
are also going to present and might feel just like me. The last concept is conflict resolution style. I
usually like to make sure that everyone feels

The Bottom Of The 9th
Bottom of the 9th. Two outs. Crack! A shallow fly ball in the air a few feet behind me, I quickly
turned around to sprint and catch the ball. I'm looking up as I attempted to track the ball in the
blinding Saturday morning sun and bang! As I became encompassed in darkness, my seemingly
lifeless body hit the ground. I blacked out for fifteen seconds. I was then helped up by a fellow
teammate. The first words to leave my lips were "Did he catch it?" I looked up, but rather than
seeing cheerful teammates and fans, I saw faces of dismay. Rather than celebrating or saying "Good
game" to the opposing team, I see my coaches sprinting out to check on me. I was stumbling off the
field being held up by two teammates as if I were a drunk teenager on New Year's Eve. They sat me
down on the cold metal bench so I could regain my balance. As I began to leave, I was approached
by the trainer. "How you feeling sweetie?" "Fine," I replied "Just a little dizzy." She then began to
test me for a concussion. She asked me to complete a set of tasks, basic concussion protocol, such as
stand on one foot, remember these words, and walk in a straight line. I passed the test with flying
colors. "Looks like you're good to go, just a little bump," she said. Little did she know it was more
than just a "little bump." This "little bump," would change my life forever. We had another game
later that day because we were in a tournament, so the team went back to school to order pizza and
hang out for a

The Religious Event I Chose Essay
The religious event I chose was the Walk to Emmaus. This is a seventy–two hour course on
Christianity. It takes place at Settle United Methodist Church started at 7:00 pm on Thursday and
ended on Sunday at 6:00 pm. Once I arrive a lady meets me at the door and says "what road are you
on, on your faith journey." I stop for a minute to think and reply "I really don't know at this point. I
have been dealing with a lot these past few months. I have questioned my faith, and at times even
felt abandoned." She grabs my hand and says, "So let us get you registered then." Following
registration there is an introduction to explain what will take place the next few days along with an
orientation. "Welcome everyone" the lady begins. She continues to explain that in the next three
days, that Emmaus will teach us to inspire, challenge, and equip us for Christian action in our
homes, community, and work. There will be no cell phones, television, or internet. Finally that night
we are told there will be an evening prayer and then silence to reflect until morning. Once I am
settled in an elderly lady comes and sits beside me. I did not see this lady earlier in the group. She
says to me "all your questions will be answered." I look at her and say "All of them, really? How
does He have all the time for me, with everyone else's prayers needing answered also?" She smiles
and walks away. I lay down to try to sleep, but I can't I am too worried about Connor. With Connor's
health at question and

The Pride And Joy Of The Family
They 've always called me superstitious, even mad. They 've always called the happening a
"coincedence." But I know better – and so does Uncle Van, if he is still alive. It occured late at
night. Not a particularly blustery, terrifying, or paralyzing night. On the contrary, it was rather
ordinary, with a light dusting of snow on the pavement. After a round of holiday excursions, an
uneventful evening with just the family (such as it was) was quite welcome, though others might
have called it depressing. We were all gathered around the fire, on the last night of the old year.
Julie, the veritable pride and joy of the family, was there, and so were my father and mother, little
Ross, and a small army of aunts, uncles, and cousins. And then of course, there was Uncle Van.
Uncle Van was semi–legendary in the family. Nobody knew much about him. Why he had shown up
at all was a mystery in itself. He looked quite young, but he was old. No one knew how old. His hair
was graying only at the edges, and he step was brisk and lively. His age was only betrayed in his
old, old, eyes. Uncle Van possessed a certain genius for storytelling. I confess that I had spent many
of the previous weeks making eyes at Julie, who had come to stay for the holidays. But for hours,
Uncle Van had held us under a spell, and we sat as wide eyed and open mouthed as any naive
babe and listened to the tales of myth, mystery, and magic that he told us. Even to this day, I

Reading Information On Mini Lessons And Guided Reading
Reading
I learned so much from the reading information that was given to us over the span this course.
Everything that I received is so wonderful and exciting, but because of the mass information, I did
feel a little overwhelmed. All of the information on mini lessons and guided reading was so valuable
because I did not know much about it, but this course and the information provided really simplified
it for me. I also really appreciate the information on the reading strategies, particularly the first
paper on strategies that work, because again, it simplifies the concepts for me. That combined with
the 12 systems of strategic action sheet are wonderful tools that taught me so much about strategies.
In all honesty, I learned a lot in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will be years before I can successfully accomplish all that I learned in this class, but I am excited
to get started with one or two concepts.
Writing
This was the tab section that I was most disappointed with, I know that I did learn new concepts, but
we went through it all so quickly that I struggle to remember it all. Learning the simplicity of the
mini lesson for writer's workshop was great, and I really loved all of the information from the
packet on charts from launching the writing workshop. Again, this is all really new information.
Other than any overlap from the textbooks, it was all completely new! I would like to learn a lot
more about writing, it would be nice to see more examples of mini lessons and how to address each
aspect of the writing workshop, via mini lessons. However, I do have the internet and youtube to
teach me a lot, so that is a great resource. I am excited to get more practice with writing workshop
mini lessons in our next class, and to see all of the examples my classmates come up with. Because
of the load of information, I am still sifting through a lot and unsure of specific questions, but I
know that I have a lot more reading and researching to do on this topic.
Vocabulary and Word Study Something that I learned in this section was the importance of pre–
assessing. I probably would not have thought of this for vocabulary, but it makes sense. Why teach
your students words

Four Rules To Being Short

  • 1. Four Rules to Being Short Rule #1: Do not EVER try to reach for something high if you can just barely touch it with your fingertips. I say this because you'll have to stretch as much as you can and eventually you'll feel like you pulled something in your foot. Trust me, if this happens to you, then it will take a while for your foot to stop hurting so if need be, climb or use a step stool. It doesn't have to be a certain thing. Use a chair or wood block maybe. As long as you can step up on it, reach what you need, and not have a fear of falling over then it's a step stool. Now, don't go about stepping on just anything. Don't even try to put all your weight on something that might break under you. I don't even need to tell you the consequences on that. Either you already know it, or you can figure it out on your own. Reaching things in upper cabinets presents a unique set of challenges. Have you ever tried climbing on the counter at 6:30 in the morning? It's a death trap waiting to happen, but if you're short and hungry, you'll take your chances. First off, you have to jump up and be able to hold yourself while you lift your legs and plant them under you so you sit on your knees. This is so that you can elevate yourself if you still can't reach what you want. Obviously, opening the cabinet door is tricky because you're right in front of it so you have to be careful about how you bend so there is room to open it up. At this point, you have a high risk of falling backwards so make sure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Why Should The Manager Be Asking? Essay Not all questions are alike and you don't want to use the precious time for asking the wrong questions. If you want to make the most of the meeting, you need to know what are the key questions to ask. Since both managers and employees should be asking questions at the meeting, we've split this section in to two. You can find the best questions for both managers and employees. What should the manager be asking? The following are some example questions a manager should be asking at one–on–ones: What would you like to focus on at this meeting? As mentioned above, you want the employee to lead the conversation and so it is a good idea to ask the above questions. It helps to kick start the conversation and you can focus your own questions accordingly. How did last week go? What did you learn during last week? You want to ask about the employee's work week to make sure you see how well they are doing. Their answer can tell you a lot about the way they prepare for the work and point out any problems they might have. You also want your employees to be constantly improving their skills and asking about what new they have learned can help you streamline your management style as well. How are you preparing for the week ahead? As well as asking about what the employee has done, you also want to focus on the future. Ask about their plans and give tips if they seem lost. What has inspired and motivated you in the past week? Keep asking about the employee's inspiration and

Throughout all of the tasks that I took part in, I believe that I performed well in some of them but then in others I could have performed much better. Throughout all of the tasks I believe that I participated as much as possible in order to get the tasks completed, participation was important for the team because of the limited numbers within the team, if I didn't participate as much as possible then the team may have struggled to complete all of the tasks. Another strength of the team was our ability to come up with a range of different ideas and then working as a team to improve on the ideas, this strength was important to use because we needed to come up with a range of ideas for all of the tasks that we were involved in. if we were unable to come up with a lot of ideas for each task then we may have struggled to complete some of the tasks that we had been set, most of the tasks involved us to work as a team to discuss the ideas that each of us had, we made sure that everyone was listening and participating during each part of the task in which we had to discuss the ideas. The final strength of the team was the overall participation of the team, within all of the tasks every team members made sure that they were participating as much as possible with the role in which they had been set, if all the team members were not participating as much as possible then it could result us in failing some of the tasks that we had been set because in each task we didn't have a big time limit in which we had to come up with ideas, put these ideas into practice and then come up with any alternative ideas that may be needed in order for us to complete the task. • 5. Courage : A Different Version Of Yourself Since you are reading an article on how to reinvent yourself, I 'm going to assume that there are a few traits that you also need to exhibit. This is because, for the most part, we don 't reinvent ourselves into someone worse than who we are. We want to reinvent ourselves and to someone who is better, more capable, stronger, and more true to themselves, and there are some very common traits of great people. Therefore, some traits you need to really focus on and do more are: – Courage: In order to become a different version of yourself. You have to be courageous. You can 't let fear hold you back from doing what you need to do or acting how you need to act. You can 't let other people make you feel bad for wanting to reinvent yourself (and I guarantee you that some people will try!) Hold your head up high and remind yourself of how brave you are as often as possible. – Patience: Don 't get upset with yourself if you don 't fully feel like you are becoming you want to be. Reinventing yourself doesn 't happen overnight. It takes time to get comfortable in a new routine and in a new environment, and even if you are acting as if you are a great dancer, for example, you may not have the skill developed yet to actually be a great dancer. If you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, then you may be quick to tell yourself that things are not working out and revert back to your old self. I stared at the boards in front of me. My head was spinning, and my mind was racing. I couldn't believe I had missed that break. I had practiced this break time and time again. It was my best break of all. Normally, my foot went through the board like a hot knife through butter. I could break double boards with that sidekick and not blink an eye or break a sweat. I knew the crowd was staring at me exactly the same way. I even heard my mom gasp. I know I did. My board holder handed me back my board, fully intact. I accepted his hesitant offering in a daze. With a clouded head, I silently took my seat at the back of the room with all of the other candidates. I felt soft pats on the back and heard whispers in my ear: "It'll be okay, honey. You'll get it next time." All that I could manage in response was a quick glance, a forced half–smile, or a simple nod. I knew that I couldn't speak. If I opened my mouth, all that would come out would be sobs. Even if I didn't have my rank, I still had my pride, and I absolutely refused to let my classmates and my students see me cry. There was only one person in the world that was allowed to see my tears that day, and as soon as we hit the parking lot and my mom put her arm around me, the flood could not be dammed. I cried until there wasn't a single tear left, and then I cried some more. I didn't know what to do. As long as I had been taking karate at that school, I had never failed so miserably. I didn't want to accept it. But, as it often did with many bad feelings, a big cone of Graeter's double chocolate chip ice cream helped to heal my sorrow, and from there I just had to suck it up.

  • 10. Analysis Of The Song ' Africa ' By Toto Essay Personally, one of my all–time favorite songs is "Africa" by Toto, which is featured on his self–titled and fourth album Toto: IV. This song is one of my favorites because it brings me a sense of nostalgia as I used to listen to this song all of the time as a child. Now, despite there being no actual reason behind liking the song besides its nostalgic effects, I absolutely adore it, and every time this song comes on, I get super excited and sing along no matter where I am. I could be out in public, which has happened before, and I will immediately stop when "Africa" comes on and begin to sing the song at the top of my lungs because it is just so catchy and it brings me back to the good old days when things were much simpler. One specific interpretation of the song that I believe could be taken to heart and represent me is that the song is actually about cleansing (i.e. the rain) and going back to the origins of life, or in this case Africa, to where life began for this man so that he could start over and get away from the world for a while. This, I feel, represents me in that sometimes I wish I could get away from the world and technology for a bit too, and like I addressed earlier go back to much simpler times, but that's just one perspective of the song as it has been interpreted in many different ways. Now another song that I love, which has similar effects to "Africa" is "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel, which is featured on his album Storm Front. This song, ... AR 710–2 and AR 735–5 both cover the Army policy for property accountability. Some sensitive items are your weapon, military ID card, communication equipment, etcetera. Sensitive items are anything that can be used by opposing forces or the enemy to counter attack, weaken forces, and gain information, and so on. People will sometimes get relaxed or forgettable while not in a combat zone or operation area. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this were to happen it could jeopardize the lives of our unit and other units as well. Another sensitive item would be NVG's or Night Vision Goggles. If you misplace or lose your Night Vision Goggles then you will not be able to see what is going on around you during the night. It could also aid the enemy in having the same advantages as you would have at night. This could potentially harm you or your unit. Maps and map overlays are also sensitive items because if the enemy were to acquire our map overlays then they would have knowledge of our battle positions, observation points, where the unit is located, ammunition points and supplies in general. This could harm you or your unit because the enemy would know your entire battle plan. All of these items are important to you and your unit because without them you and your unit are not fully mission capable and able to carry out the tasks given to you by your chain of command. If you lose one of your sensitive items it can harm your unit and keep you from completing your mission properly or at all. It could also prolong your mission until you are able to find what has been misplaced. It could also put you and your unit in harm's way due to the fact that they would be looking for the misplaced item and not paying attention to their surroundings. • 15. Personal Statement On Communication Skills Many people are not aware of the communication skills that they lack, most will argue that they have perfect communication skills. Taking interpersonal communication has taught me that my skills are very poor. I walked in thinking there was nothing I can learn about communication and realized that I know little to nothing about communication. Since starting this class I've narrowed the skills I need to work on to the following four which includes listening, being more supportive and active, understanding, and improving my self concept. Although all four of these skills are something I can improve I think listening is my main problem. When I think of listening I relate it to just hearing the message. I do not follow the process of listening that was taught in my communication class. Rather than receiving, recalling, rating, and responding, I often hear and skip right to responding. I do believe that because I don't follow all the steps I forget easily or do not understand things completely, which leads to me either questioning later, or just winging it. I also realized that I have selective listening, because of lack of interest in some conversations I often block out part of the conversation, or lose focus and zone out until the end of the conversation. By then I know little of what was talked about and only respond to what I think is most important to me. I figured the students would be able to solve multiplication problems easily and would need very little, if any help. I figured they would be able to follow instructions. That's exactly what happened for the third graders, but for the younger ones we had to switch to addition instead of multiplication. Overall, it was a very pleasant activity and it taught me a lot about how children today are learning when it comes to mathematics. Kids Count threw us a big curveball when they told us we wouldn't be getting only third graders because after all, our activity was designed for third graders. • 26. The Effects Of Advertising On Youth 's Psychology Professor Jeff Richards once said "Creative without strategy is called art, but creative with strategy is called advertising." This quote is basically stating that advertisements use a lot of techniques and strategies to convince and persuade audience. Particularly advertisements use psychological feelings to persuade you positively or negatively towards a product. Advertising affects youth's psychology by triggering feelings that make you want to buy their product. First, corporations work on multiple strategies specifically in the field of pschology that might even change your life forever positively or negatively .For example, time.com states that "Companies get you lost and confused. It's not an accident that grocery stores are often laid out unintuitively. Losing focus makes people spend more on impulse purchases, says expert Martin Lindstrom, who has conducted studies on marketing strategies. Getting interrupted during shopping also makes you less price–sensitive, according to research co–authored by marketing professor Wendy Liu at UC San Diego. That's because when you return to look at products after a distraction, you have a false sense of having already vetted them, she says." In addition these strategies have been tested by specialists which can change your life negatively by making you forget what products you actually need and make you concentrate on things that look attractive. • 27. Personal Note On Pay Attention 3. Pay Attention To Where You Put Your Attention When you start to become aware of where you put your attention, you can start to change your life. Why? Because if your attention is on things that make you feel negative, and you become aware of that, then you can move it to things that help you stay positive. For instance, if you are at a conference, and you are listening to a brilliant speaker talk about something you are very interested in, then your attention is on him and you feel good. But, if someone starts coughing right next to you and can 't stop, then your attention can be pulled towards them and off the speaker. You may start to get annoyed and upset, which will lead to thoughts about how much you spent on the conference and how much this person is ruining it! That can lead to a whole host of negative thoughts, and by the end of the conference you may feel absolutely horrible about everything that happened. When you understand that where you put your attention has a big influence over your thoughts and attitude, you can become aware of when you are focusing on something that doesn 't deserve your attention and get it back onto something that does. This applies to all things in life, big and small. 4. Get Clear On Your Habits Are you doing things that help you stay positive or keep you stuck in a negative frame of mind? It 's important to take a look at your life because your habits and routines can affect how you feel in a big way. For instance, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This period of life was the 60's and the generation was healthy there was no formula, cotton diapers, and no danger (Drakulic 1118). It is debated in the essay that Goran was a narcissistic and antisocial personality determined by two psychiatrists (Drakulic 1122), or was he a victim of the war that lead him to kill for eighteen days. Another theory was that he was forced and afraid of his life. I find it ironic that he plead guilty and was willing to take his punishment with no defense. This essay showed how we all are a victim of our upbringing and surroundings. It portrays a life of a normal human that had goals and ambitions but failed due to power of one's inner soul. You can't help but feel that Goran was a victim and not just a killer that turned, with the blink of an eye into a monster. He pretended to be God and got a high of showing his power by executing prisoners (Drakulic 1125). He was a young farm mechanic given a pistol and power that he had never received before, but had longed for his whole life. It seems like Goran could have been anyone of us from the grocery store clerk, the CEO of a big corporation, or the stay at home mother that had just had enough. The human race is a complex breed that at any point we can be pushed over the edge. Looks can be deceiving and while everything appears to be put together the inner battle within ones soul could portray a monster waiting to be pushed over the edge. On the contrary, it was rather ordinary, with a light dusting of snow on the pavement. After a round of holiday excursions, an uneventful evening with just the family (such as it was) was quite welcome, though others might have called it depressing. We were all gathered around the fire, on the last night of the old year.
