2. •The city of Baguio continues to provide solid waste
management as a basic urban service. It is carried out by the
Solid Waste Management Division of the General Service
Office. The SWMD is composed of 161 warm bodies and
divided into 4 sections.
•The city Generates 288-300 tons/day
•The city collects and hauls out on the average 160-220/TPD
•Collection covers 127 of 128 barangays on a weekly basis.
3. •National Highways and institutional areas are served twice
a week, while at the central Business District and the city
market is done twice a day.
•Collection is on designated curb sides and Barangay pick-
up points.
4. Waste segregation, answer to garbage problem –
Baguio city Govt.
In this regards, the Barangay is responsible for
ensuring that 100% collection efficiency from
residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural
sources, where necessary within its area of
coverage, is achieved.
5. • Barangay Waste management is the same in all
Barangay, the only difference could be that it is more
effective in some Barangay than others
• It is the responsibility of barangay officials to pinpoint
an area in there barangays to serve as pick up point for
segregated waste.
• BAGUIO CITY –The city government has issued
guidelines for the revived "no segregation , no
collection" policy in garbage collection beginning Sept.

6. • Biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes
must be positioned seperately.
• - Violators are punishable under Rep. Act No.
9003
• - this is supported by barangay captains and
sanitation committee to better systemize garbage
collection at source.
• One truck comes to pick waste once a week
• - Mondays
7. . The city"s waste management scheme is
anchored on the operation of the environmental
recycling System machines.
• This system employ the mechanical conversion
of large amounts of biodegradable wastes into
high grade fertilizer.
• the operation of the machines can not be
maximized due to poor segregation practice in
the barangay level
8. BAGUIO. Tons of garbage coming from Baguio and La
Trinidad are piled up at the Lamtang open dump area.
These trash are eventually transported to Capas,
Tarlac.
