Charlotte, the daughter of the owner, says the store no longer hosts in-person visits from labels due to COVID but runs promotions on social media. “Honestly, not much. We mostly get kids from local bands or street teams that come in
and ask about distribution or street team promotion. Because of the pandemic, we have
not had any in-person visits. Mostly just through email, social media, and those kinds of
things.”

releases (such as SZA’s CTRL) in
multiple color variants and versions
• Along with a restock of “CTRL”, the
store has recently ran a sale on
merchandise, record players, and
concert ticket giveaways.

9. Magnolia Thunderpussy is an integral part of
the Columbus, OH music community. It has
been opened for decades and they have
supported the local music scene in multiple
ways. Whether its promoting flyers on the
windows, selling “hard copies” of tickets to
local concerts and events, or having
designated, special sections for local releases,
it is a perfect place for an indie artist to
distribute their music. Magnolia Thunderpussy
is quirky, eclectic, and a high-traffic record
store with tons of niche releases. Chuck Kubat
(owner) is regularly in the store and loves
talking to artists and music lovers, making him
the ultimate resource for local and indie artists.
