4. Consignment or
Marketing Reps
When conversing with Freshtopia's
owner DJ Bee, he claimed that they
have not yet begun offering
consignment deals due to the fact
that they are so young and still
ironing out the kinks of the
business following the COVID

shutdown. However, because he has
his radio station inside the business,
he brings in newer artists to have
their music played live. DJ Bee has
been on

Jamz radio in the
Hampton Roads area for over two
decades, leveraging his skills and
bringing in marketing
representatives from local labels.
5. DJ Bee and his wife also
lead weekly group bike rides
that bring many to the
neighborhood,The two
helped secure a grant that
brought bike racks to the
block. (Stewart,

9. Reflection: Would you use this store for a local indie artist’s album release? If so, what would
you do? For instance, would you have an in-store event, consign their album, leave samplers, etc?
I'd use this store to have an
album release for a local
independent musician
because the store has a
garden in the back with
tables and a stage for artists
to perform. Freshtopia also
hosts a live radio show called
Freshradio, which features
emerging artists from the
area. I'd host an event in
their garden and leave
samplers for customers and
employees to listen to and
incorporate into their live
radio rotations.
