1. How did you attract/ address your audience?
Advertisement:
To attract my audience I would have advertised our movie film
posters on buses and bus stops. However this would only be
advertised in certain areas in London. This is because the issues raised
in the movie are only subjected to people who live in poorer more
deprived areas in London and someone who lives in an upper class
area may not particularly have any interested in a story on a young
black boy in south east London.
The movie would also have trailers. But similarly to the film posters
this could only be advertised on certain platforms as many people
would not be interested. For this we thought it would be advertise it
on something such as ‘vice’. Vice is youth orientated news website
and has a large teenage audience mainly in London. They constantly
raise the hidden issues of teenagers in today’s society and talk about
hidden issues such as: child exploitation, poverty etc. For this reason I
feel as though the trailer would gather a large audience from this
website as they would be interested in the issues that are raised. The
trailer would also be advertised on YouTube, however because
trailers are sometimes picked in relation to the content you are
watching on YouTube I would only choose for it to be shown if
someone is watching something in relation to London.
When this is ready for theatrical release because it is a low budget
independent movie we thought that it should only be shown at
independent cinemas such as The Ritzy in Brixton. This is because
low budgets do not do well in mainstream movies and as the film is
being target to specific areas this means more people would be likely
to see it.
Editing:
During the editing stages of the movie we decided to use a lot of jump
cuts and fade transitions. In the pre-production stages when we were
researching the typical conventions of thriller movies it was found
2. that jump cuts were always used as they build on to the intensity
between the characters and the audience. Not only this, but fade
transitions. We found that this brought in our audience more.
