2. USE OF CAMERA…
Before starting on my Media AS level course, I
had never used a camera professionally, only
when taking pictures on holidays or on
celebrations and I think it took me a while to be
able to become confident in using a camera.
Since doing our preliminary task in the beginning
of the school year, I believe that I have improved
and become more conscious on getting the right
composition and applying the rules of a third.
Through out the whole of filming, we had used
the same handheld HD video recorder and we
had equally shared out the same amount of
camera time for the movie. The only problem we
had while filming was that we had to make sure
that no moving cars or planes were visible as we
had to make sure the streets were ‘empty’ to be
able to fulfil the plot of our movie.

7. USE OF MICROPHONES…
We had used only one type of microphone while
filming and we had used a microphone that was
attached to the camera and we used this to pick
up all the dialogue in the film sequence.
However we did not have a fur cover as there
wasn’t any left which made it a little difficult as it
would record every sound and not minimise the
background noise. But we over came that
problem by fixing it on Adobe Premiere
Elements.
Even though there was not a lot to do with the
microphone as we had no boom poll, we had to
make sure that the microphone was on and
working when we were filming.

11. LIGHTING…
When filming, we knew that we would encounter
lighting problems. Especially when we were
filming when it was getting dark as the footage
would look too dark and crackly if there was not
enough light. We had used a reflector when we
needed light and this allowed us to have the
right amount of light onto our actress when she
was filming.
We also had troubles when we were filming
during the day time and the scene was meant to
be at night. So what we did was go on Premiere
Elements and we chose a filter that would make
the scene appear dark and make it look like it
was filmed at night.

15. EDITING SOFTWARE…
Before we had started editing, I had never used
Adobe Premiere Elements or Garage Band and
so it was another skill I had learned. I had used
Movie Maker before, but it was nothing
compared to the detail of Premiere. I enjoyed
using Premiere and I learnt about the file
compatibility, the key alterations and the
different ways of exporting the film.
I also got a chance to help Kathryn when
choosing sounds and putting them together as
we were both in charge of music in the feature
film. It was really interesting to see how
different sounds can come together and give the
movie a certain feeling towards the audience.

19. IN CONCLUSION…
I have learnt a great deal on how to use these technologies, and
thanks to the skills learnt together, we can make our film better
than before. With these skills we could easily make plans and
change them if we faced a problem. We faced some difficult
problems with Adobe Premiere Elements but with some help we
overcame this and it allowed us to be happy with the outcome
with our film feature.
I think learning how to operate all this technology has abled us to
be more free in decision making and I believe that we were happy
with our end product due to this.
