180 Degree Rule, Shot Reverse Shot and Match on Action
1. Shows two characters or
other items, in the same
scene should always be on
the same side, if the
camera passes over the line
which the characters are
on, connecting the two
items or people, it is called
Crossing the Line. By
swapping the side of the
camera it is known as
reverse angle.
2. Shot Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot – is
where one character is
shown looking at the
other character and
then show the first
character looking still
and the second
character. The way you
create this shot could
be using over shoulder
reverse shot and over
shoulder shot.
3. Match On Action
Match on action – is when the camera cuts
between to different shots, for example it could be
used when a character enters the room, and shows
two shots the first shot show the person opening
the door from behind then show the person
directly facing forwards, whist the position of the
door being open the same about as the shot from
behind.
