Techniques
The opening title credits of BEETLEJUICE starts off with a score of
the film the music is calm sort of sound but as soon as the credits
come up the music changes and it gets faster, and a darker sound
to it, building up some tension for the audience. Then the camera
shows an aerial shot of the town, showing the audience the view
of the town. As the camera is going over the town showing the
different details of the houses and other buildings in the town,
most of the houses look similar.

Visual Effects &
Colour Scheme
When the aerial shot of the town is being shown the main
colours in that shot is green and white and a bit of red. Because
of the dark colours of the titles which are black and a glow of
blue which gives the idea of a scary film , when we see the town
and the colours of the town such as the green of the hills and a
grass it gives the audience an Idea that the town is quiet and
peace full until the credits do.
Genre Conventions
Because of the style the credits are it gives the audience that the
film is going to be scary until you see the colour of the the town
and the little houses but when it comes close to the end of the
credits we see the house on a hill, which could be refered to the
Amityville horror, which is a series of scary films.
Narrative
The credits of the film and the style the writing is gives us an idea
of what the film might be about which is ghosts, this is shown by
how the gloominess in the font of the credits and how the tittle
of the film is shown, so far the audience predicts it’s a scary film
by the music that is played at the beginning of the credits. Also
because of how the title of the film is presenting, the way the
writing and the detail is black on a white background, making it
black and white and grainy the writing is lob sided with skulls
and skeletons surrounding it making it look scary.

Editing Techniques
The editing technique used in the opening credits is a crossfade
which is when the aerial shot of the real town is shown but then
as the camera gets closer to the town we start seeing that the
town is actually a model ,at first you can’t really tell until the
camera zooms in and you see the details up close of the houses
the cars and the fake grass.
Title Credit Design
When the credits start coming up on the screen dark colours are
used for the writing such as black and blue. The writing is in the
centre of the shot so you can’t miss the names of the actors.
Behind the black bold writing of the titles there is a blue glow
giving the idea of a ghostly look to the writing, also when the
title of the film comes up on the screen the writing is on a pale
white block that looks similar to a tomb stone, the writing on it is
grainy and lob sided making it look old and it has skulls and
skeletons on it making it look scarier.
