1.
2. We have made two institutional logos which will represent our film
opening. These logos are called ‘Primrose Productions’ and ‘Dream
World Productions’ we have decided to go with these names due to
the creativity which they portray and they are similar to real life
film industries such as ‘DreamWorks’.
3. Our title for our film is called ‘Blackout’. We have decided to name
this film opening ‘Blackout’ due to the scenes and plots which
portray the name. We have been inspired by a variety of similar
films such as ’21 and over’ and ‘Hangover’. Additionally, our title
inspiration was inspired by the range of party scenes which was
involved in our film opening. Furthermore, we decided to match
our font and colours of our titles with the party scene to give a
kaleidoscopic effect as the flickering lights match the text. As it is a
comedy film, our intention was to make the font of our titles funky
and exciting to entice the audience.
4. The costume design and props relate to the film ’21 and over’ as it
matches to the scenario which is a party scene. Also we used
existing films such as ’21 and over’ to replicate its plot and create
ideas for our film opening. The props in this film opening look
realistic and noticeable as the audience can identify what the genre
is straight away. Also the costume of some of the characters are
there to show that the party last night was a misery and it depicts
that it is a comedy genre. The music for our party scene gives the
audience a funky and exciting vibe which they can relate to as the
music is catchy.

5. Once we filmed our party scene we had noticed that the low key
lighting was not suitable for our scene. Our intention was to make
the room as dark as possible with beams of lights flickering
everywhere to make the scene look like a night club. Through trial
and error we fixed this lighting issue by editing the scenes by
adding different beams if colour lights flickering around the room.
6. The title ‘Blackout’ is clear and bold which will entice the audience
as it is funky and exciting which is suitable for the genre .The time
lapse of the establishing shot which tells the audience the time
frame.

from day to night
7. The camera angle and movements were consistent and precise
throughout our film opening. We had many problems with the
type of shot types and locations we should use but throughout
trial and error we managed to figure out the right shot types and
locations. We used panning shots, free hand filming, establishing
shots and many more to make our scenes look fascinating and
interesting

8. The gender representation of the characters shows that men are
more likely to be in a situation like this film opening rather than
women. The use of men in this film opening depict that it is a
comedy genre, we saw this happen in films such as ‘Hangover’ and
’21 and over’.
Passive Roles (Extras)
Main characters (Males)

9. The different locations of each character shows the creativity of the
film opening and what the film foreshadows, we see this in films
such as ‘Hangover’ and ’21 and over’.

10. The two ways split screen conversation is really effective has it lets
the audience keep up to date on what each character is doing and
what is going to happen next.
The picture on the right shows the host of
the conversation who introduces the two
way split screen which allows the audience
to see what is going on when others are
talking
11. We have developed the stereotype of males as the key gender and
main characters because we want to ensure that the party scene
will be much more exciting and hilarious with male characters who
are not shamed to let themselves go. We see this in films such as
‘Hangover’ and ’21 and over’.
