will be talking about news that is happening around the world. The show is usually scheduled at
specific times when the target audience of the show is likely to be listening to the show.

news that week. The show is broadcasted on BBC radio 4. BBC radio 4 is a public service radio
station targeted at people aged 30+ , and covers the social demographic classes D-B . The show is
usually broadcasted at a certain time of the day, for the audience to be able to listen to the show.
Showson thisstationare usuallybroadcastedin the afternoon when the audience will be listening
to the show. The BBC has a number of different radio stations, targeting to a variety of different
audiences, and the BBC aim to educate, inform and entertain their audiences, and have specific
radio stations dedicated, to doing this.
In the worldat one showa varietyof headlinesare beingtalked about, during the show. One of the
headlines is about footballer Ched Evans. The footballer has been charged with rape ,and the
presenterwasdiscussing,thatfootball officialare talkingabout lettingthe footballerjoin a football
clubor not .Whenthe journalististalkingaboutChedEvansthisisthe voicer, because the journalist
is the only one talking about the Ched Evans case, and it is also a recorded report of this.
The style of the showis very formal, the presenter talks in a very monotone and serious way when
presenting. This shows that the audience for this show are slightly older, because of the serious
contentof the show.A bulletinisalso featured In the news programme, this is when the presenter
starts talking about Ed Miliband. A crime headline is the announced by the presenter, and then it
cuts to someone being interviewed at the scene.
Copy only means that the newsreader simply reads the report, without the use of interviews or
anyone else speaking. This happens in the world at one show. The newsreader talks about and
incident that have happened at a hospital, she only talks about what has happened, and doesn’t
interview orhave anyone elsetalking.Afterthis a feature story is used in the show, which is a story
about the political party the Conservatives. An audio clip of Ed Miliband speaking is then played.
A wrap is a recorded report, which is a journalist’s voice is played during the beginning and end of
the show, and the report covers the ‘actuality’. In the world at one show a wrap is used when a
journalist is speaking, but then a recorded report of Nick Clegg starts playing.
A two way is used on radio when a presenter is talking about a specific topic, and then has a
correspondentonthe field, interviewingsomeone.Thisislinked by something called live cross, this

2. means both the presenter and correspondent are live to the audience and respond to each other.
Thishappensinthe worldat one show, when the presenter starts talking about the Tories. Then a
correspondentcanbe heardaskinga man abouthis viewson the Tories. Another live cross which is
usedinthe showis whenthe presenteristalking about the Ched Evans case. A correspondent then
starts interviewing a sports editor, who he is asking about more information on Ched Evans.

to a homosexual audience.Gaydio ismainlytargetedatalarge audience of gay,lesbian,transgender
and bisexual people of all ages.GaydioisbroadcastedinManchester,andondigital radio in London.
It was launched on June 18th
2010, and is the UK only LGBT FMradio station .

A public service radio is a radio station which broadcast to the entire public. The BBC broadcast a
variety of different station all over the UK.. BBC radio 5 live is one of the public service radio
stations. BBC radio 5 live is a national radio station that specializes in news, phone ins, interviews
and sportscommentary. Itis the mainradiostationthat coverssports commentary, especially when
majorsports eventsare taking place. Radio 5 live started in March of 1994, after being renamed by
Radio 5 which started in 1990. It is available through FMradio, digital radio and television.

3. There are a varietyof differentcommercial radio stations. These radio stations usually play a song ,
and then have a variety of different adverts being played in between the music and jingles of that
station. One of the commercial radio stations is Capital FM. Capital FMplay a different songs from
the UK charts. During this they also have a variety of adverts played in between the music. This is
because commercial radio stations make their money by broadcasting them, because they are
promotinga varietyof companies.Capital FMwaspreviously named Mix, Galaxy and Hit Music, and
is targeted at an audience ages 14-34.

Community radio stations are created by public facilities to broadcast shows to the audience in

4. Small scale radio station is only broadcasted at a certain distance and in certain areas. One small
scale radiostation isEccles college radiostationE6radio.The stationonly has a license to broadcast
aroundthe college ,toitsstudentsandstaff and can’t be picked up outside of the college area. The
radio station is mainly used for educational purposes for students to have a chance to create their
own radio shows and to play them to their fellow students.
A regional radio station in the North West is a radio station called Unity Radio
