There are a lot of different elements and techniques used when creating this trailer, a lot of
elements in this trailer have inspired me. At the start of the trailer there is a calmmusic,
although the jump scares start right away the suspenseful music and sound FX don’t kick in
till half way through the trailer. We can see from the start the clips are very dull and eerie,
especially the scariest clips.
There are a lot of title cards used at the start of the trailer, there is the ‘appropriate’ green
title card, there is a filmproduction logo then the title of the film. After the first few clips are
played there is another title card that shows what films the production company has already
produced. There are then a lot of close up shots of the different characters within this film,
and a panning shot of the house.
The shot of the house is very bright and colourful whereas the shots of the characters are
dull, low key lighting has been used. There are also a lot of shots of the family having fun
and laughing together before the suspenseful music begins. The shots get shorter and
faster as the sound FX get louder, this is how we know something is going to happen.

The setting is very conventional for horror films, a house that is out of the way of
civilisation. There are panning shots of the house so this shows that the main focus is the
house itself, there are also a lot of long shots have been used to capture the location and
the house itself. Whereas mid shots and close ups are used on the characters themselves.
The shots are all very dull and slightly colourless; the colours red and black are the main
focus, these colours are associated with death and violence. I will be editing the colour on
my project to look dull and eerie to match the genre and theme.
There are a lot of title cards throughout this trailer, just 30 second in there are a few title
cards explaining the past of ‘The warrens’. This helps the audience interact more with the
trailer as they know a bit more about the story line. Here is an example of one of the title
cards I will be creating when I edit my project together.
