Viva-Voce:-
Introduction:-
It is a evaluative process of students for
both practical and theoretical portion of course.
Definition
It consist of a dialogue between the examiner and a
student where the examiner asks question and the
students replies.
Purposes:-
To assess student ability to communicate with
another person.
To supplement the information obtained
through other evaluation techniques.
To use stimulation methods like role play and
telephone conversation.
To identify and analyse the students presence
of mind
To evaluate the student spontaneity and
mannerism.
To acquire soundness of knowledge through
various forms of question.

Principles
It should not be related to single topic but
covers a range of different issues.
Examiners should talk as little as possible
during the viva.
When the last question asked allow the
students to complete his answer and end the
session formally.
It should not be exceeds 30 minutes.
Candidate should be examined individually.
Candidate should be given adequate notice of
the possibility of being called to attend a viva
and this should normally not be less than 24
hours.
Merits:-
Provide direct contact with the candidate to
assess theircommunication, presentation
skills and overall impression.
Provides opportunity to mitigate
circumstances into accounts.
Provide flexibility in moving the candidates
form strong to weak points.
