 Nowadays broiler production is becoming a high demanding
industry.
 People engaged with new trends in order to increase the
productivity and enhance the meat quality.
 It includes,
• Improved Genetics .
• Advanced climate controlled housing systems
Better Nutrition
• Excellent Disease control
• Improved Vaccines and vaccination techniques .
• Effective use of Antibiotics and AGP”S
Introduction of improved breeds
 Introducing of genetically improved breeds is a new trend.
 Characters of improved broilers are,
 Low mortality
 Fast feathering
 Rapid growth rate (1.5 Kg/6-7 wks)
 Better FCE (1.8-1.9)
 Good body conformation
 High dressing % (70-80%)
 Broiler breed species
 Cobb 500
 Arbor Acres
 Hubbard

Advanced climate controlled housing

 Modern housing systems
 Semi-closed housing system
 Fully-closed housing system
 Features of new housing systems,

bird.
Main objective – increase fattening of birds by reducing
energy losses.
Feeds and nutrition
 Feed is one of a poultry producers biggest expenses, contributing 60% to 70% of total
broiler production costs.
 Phase feeding is a new method,
- Feeding of several diets for a relatively short period of time.-
- Efficient utilization of nutrients.
- Increase animal performance.
 Instead of AGP’S ( Anti-biotic Growth Promoters ) now use ,
 Direct fed microbial
 Prebiotics
 Organic acids
 Essential oils
As alternatives.
 Application of Effective Micro-Organism Liquid ( E.M.) in Broiler Farming
• E.M. Solution is a concentrated liquid produced from the cultivation of 80
strains of beneficial microorganisms .
• Advantages of E.M.;
 It reduces cost inputs more efficiently and improves gain in body
weight.
 It maintains better health condition of chicks.
 Use of Prebiotics
• Prebiotics are non- digestible carbohydrates.
• It supply nutrients to beneficial microbes and tricking pathogenic bacteria
inside the gut.
• Ex : Fructo oligosaccharides (FOS), Mannan oligosaccharides (MOS), Beta
Glucans
Disease control mechanisms
 New trend of disease control method is vaccination.

- Because it affect on human health as cause side effects due to
the carcinogenic substances & other chemicals.
Transportation techniques
 Automated handling procedure use in loading & unloading
of broilers.
- It reduces physical damage & stress
 Cold climate transportation is a new trend.
- This method helps to,
 Reduce moisture level of broilers.
 Reduce re-distribution of heat .
New technologies for slaughtering
 Nowadays slaughtering is done within 28 days.
( but before 56 days 42 days 38 days 28 days )
- reason for this is reduce cost of feed, labour etc.( cost of
production)
- To obtain maximum growth they use genetically improve breeds
& growth promoters.
 Slaughtering was mainly done by electrical stunning & control
atmosphere stunning.
- mainly in control atmospheric stunning High concentration of
Carbon dioxide & Argon is used .
 Automated technology is a new trend in slaughtering process.
 For that conveyor systems are used.
 For de-feathering automated rotating drum with fingers is
used.

  • 3. Introduction of improved breeds  Introducing of genetically improved breeds is a new trend.  Characters of improved broilers are,  Low mortality  Fast feathering  Rapid growth rate (1.5 Kg/6-7 wks)  Better FCE (1.8-1.9)  Good body conformation  High dressing % (70-80%)

  • 12. New technologies for slaughtering  Nowadays slaughtering is done within 28 days. ( but before 56 days 42 days 38 days 28 days ) - reason for this is reduce cost of feed, labour etc.( cost of production) - To obtain maximum growth they use genetically improve breeds & growth promoters.  Slaughtering was mainly done by electrical stunning & control atmosphere stunning. - mainly in control atmospheric stunning High concentration of Carbon dioxide & Argon is used .
  • 13.  Automated technology is a new trend in slaughtering process.  For that conveyor systems are used.  For de-feathering automated rotating drum with fingers is used.
