4. Mobile Veterinary clinics ??
⢠Mobile Veterinary clinics utilize a motor vehicle equipped with
special medical and surgical equipment to make house or farm
calls.
⢠A variety of manufacturers make 18 to 30-foot vehicles (vans or
trailers) that can be specially equipped for use as veterinary
mobile units.
7. Why do we need mobile
veterinary Clinic (MVC) ???
i. It provided substantial cost savings to the animal owner
ii. It reduces stress on the animal no longer require transport
iii. It helps to reduce spread of pathogen from diseased
animal
8. Purpose of MVC
ďśPrevention of livestock diseasesby improved by biosecurity,
vaccination, de-worming, etc. at farmersâ door step
ďśReduction of mortality of livestock by treatment of sick animals at
farmersâ door step
ďśImprovement of health status and fertility of cattle through
better health management & AI at farmersâ door step.

10. Service of MVC
ďźSurveillance of diseases; Training on farm hygiene &
biosecurity; Formation of community group; Linking, etc.
ďźPreventive Veterinary Services & AI, e.g. deworming,
vaccination, metabolic profiling
ďźClinical Veterinary Services to treat and control diseases,
Mobile Veterinary Services
11. Service of MVC In BD!!
ďź2012, Mobile veterinary service introduced first time at Upazila
by the financial support of KGF to reduce calf mortality.
ďźThey were able to reduce calf mortality from baseline 13.2 to
2% with few additional benefits.
ďźFirst conception age of calf was reduced from 29 month to 19
month. Two validate, KGF approved project in 2 more Upazilla.

15. Community Involvement in MVC
ď§ 10 community groups
formed in two areas
ď§ Farmers Vet Club has
been formed at BAU
16. Disease Control Strategy
Definition: Disease control strategy are those type method
which are applied for the control of diseases.
There are three terms used most commonly in association with
disease control activities.
⢠Prevention
⢠Control
⢠Eradication
17. Disease Control Strategy(Cont.)
⢠Prevention- Those measures intended to interfere an attack or
occurrence of a disease. Examples, Quarantine and vaccination.
Applied at either the individual or the population level.
⢠Control-Objectives are to reduce both the prevalence (of
existing infections), and the incidence (of new infection), as well
as morbidity and mortality rates from clinical disease.
⢠Eradication- Complete elimination of the causative agent.
Usually by treatment or by removal or by disposal of the
infected animals.
18. Principles of control
There are 10 principles of control include:-
#1.Environmental and managemental control
Ecologically imbalance between the host and the environment
-Poor hygiene
20. Principles of Control(Cont.)
2.Reduce infection pressure and prevent new
infection :-
⢠Maintenance of a clean environment
-Feed and water supply
-Bedding and other materials
22. Principles of Control(Cont.)
#3.Quarentine
⢠It is a fixed period of isolation or a place where the
movement of the animals are restricted and physical
separation of animal is enforced in-
-National level
-Regional level
-Herd level
25. Principles of Control(Cont.)
#5.Control of vectors
⢠There are three ways of vector control via â
-Control of biological vector
-Control of mechanical vector
-Control by irradication
29. Principles of Control(Cont.)
#7.Genetic improvement
⢠For the development of naturally disease resistant animals via-
-Selecting breeding
-Genetic screening
-Early detection
33. Principles of Control(Cont.)
#9.Biosecurity
⢠Biosecurity may be defined as the technology for the prosses
through which all the channels of entrence and spread out of
pathogens are efficiently prevented in farm.
Types of practice-
-Conceptual and structural
-Regulation concerning movement
-Traffic control
-Operational
