Biosecurity practices and farm hygiene are implemented on poultry farms to reduce the risk of disease agents moving on to farms from outside sources (eg wild bird populations or from other farms), the movement of disease agents between sheds on the same farm,

2.  Biosecurity means safety of living things.
 It is a programme designed to prevent the
exposure of birds to disease causing
organisms by reducing introduction and
spread of pathogens into and between the
farm.
 Biosecurity is important to maintain
healthy poultry flock until get the
production.

 To reduce the revenue loss due to mortality.

 Farm should be built in an isolated area.
 It means at least 3km away from nearest
poultry in case of breeder farm.
 1.6km in the case of commercial farm and
broiler farm.

 Facilities for safe scientific disposal of dead
birds.

6.  Safe housing-in rainy days house was covered
by using suitable cover.
 A 3m boundary of land around the building
must be kept free of vegetation

7.  Operational biosecurity means day to day
activities.
 Should use different pair of foot wears and
clean farm clothes in the isolated area.
 Use an effective integrated pest management
programme to control pests and rodents.
 Proper decontamination and disinfection of
equipments and houses.
 Disinfect the floor using lime 2 weeks before chick
arrival.
 Clean roof, wire mesh and floor with using detergent
before one day ( teepol)

8.  Appropriate programme of disease diagnosis
and proper vaccination schedule should be
implemented.
 Routine disease monitoring procedures.
 Regular culling of unhealthy and diseased
birds.
 Use quality water-filtered, boiled and cooled
water.
