Residential Space Plan
Dear, Mr. & Mrs. Reid, Concept Statement Per your request, I created a residential space plan that
encompasses all of your requirements. Based on your desire to stay true to the international style, I
used influences from 20th century architect Le Corbusier as the design template for all furniture and
built–in furnishings. I also used materials and colors that would encapsulate the style, elements, and
principles of the International style. The atmosphere of the condo will be one of that radiates
calmness and produces a sense of energy for all those who enter. This sense of calmness will be
further supported by the linear and open floor plan. The apartment is oriented as an open space plan
allowing for increased mobility and people flow throughout the space. Universal design and ADA
requirements were used to determine the room and furniture layout allowing everyone including

One of the main elements of the condo design is color. I used color as a tool to emphasize certain
materials and designs within the space. I also introduced iconic design elements of international
style such as the marble wall that was showcased in the Barcelona Pavilion design by Mies van der
Rohe. To keep with the growing trend of modernism in the Seattle design market, I introduced the
marble wall as a floating art piece. This feature also further explore the use of visual weightless
elements of The International Style. Additionally, I introduced modern aspects of the space through
introduction of materials such as concrete, steel, metal, and glass. I emphasized and applied the
element of line, profoundly into the design to create the illusion of space by directing the eye to
linear and vertical design aspects. I added a sense of playfulness through the furniture designs,
custom lighting, and original pieces by Le

Critical Analysis of Jiri Kylian’s Choreographic Style in...
Anna Kisselgoff a professional dance critic believes; Jiri Kylian's choreography resulted in 'scores
of younger choreographers being influenced by the emotional and kinetic thrust of his signature
style, a highly physical fusion of ballet technique with the idiomatic freedom of modern dance. As
an artist, he has been remarkably deep and original.' Jiri Kylian's 'Black and White' ballets,
premiered on May 7, 1988, have a number of defining characteristics which create a unique
contemporary style. Elements of movement, theatrical elements and themes are carried through all
six dances which creates a number of motifs throughout the series of dance works.
All six dances in the 'black and white' ballets are based on sexuality. The male ... Show more content

Another common feature of all the dances is that the music is an irregular rhythm, creating suspense
and standing out as individual. Kylian's choreography uses the ability to isolate and coordinate
different body parts as well as the use of hands to communicate meaning in all of his dances. Humor
is often created as a result in over the top facial expressions like in 'six dances'. Kylian as a
contemporary choreographer uses stillness as a choreographic device in all of his dances. Another
unique element to his dance style is the entrances and exits of the performers. He explores space's
limitations and capabilities making the entrances and exits part of the dance. In all of Jiri Kylian's
dances, the dancers enter and exit the stage into darkness rather than through wings. The dancers in
all Jiri Kylian's Black and white ballets, dance predominately in a large group, with individuals or
pairs breaking off to do their individual movements before soon joining back in with the group.
The use of theatrical elements in Jiri Kylian's dances is a defining characteristic of his style as a
choreographer. He chooses to use plain, often nude coloured costumes in all his dances, for example
in 'Sarabanade' and 'Petite mort', the dancers look naked. This is a personal choice and was done to
reinforce his views that dance should be about 'dancing not the costumes'. Also this nude costuming

English 101 Reflective Essay
English class has never been my strong suite. I always had to work twice as hard in English then I
did in any other class. Writing paper always had me stressed and overwhelmed, I felt discouraged in
my work. l never seemed to be able to get to the level I wanted to. I would try my hardest and paid
attention in class, but when it came to writing the paper none of that seemed to help. I think that my
experience in English Composition 1 has helped gain and grow in some areas, but I don't think that
it highlights a well–written college essay. Some elements that I worked to improving was
introduction paragraphs, tone, style, and thesis statements. Throughout my experience in English

During high school, I seemed to get marked done for the tone used in my paper. I learned in this
class that tone is a very important element in writing a paper, and can help the paper flow better. My
sentences in my high school papers didn't vary in length very well then. I always had a problem with
short choppy sentences. When writing my profile essay, research easy, and personal essay I tried to
make sure I had a variety of sentence lengths. I feel I gained some improve on this element, I know I
still have issues but I have grown from where I was before. Some papers were stronger than others
and I struggled a bit more when constructing my paragraphs. My strongest paper in tone I would
feel was my Personal essay. "She wants them to believe they can do whatever their hearts desire but
they have to be willing to work for it. As a mother, it's important to work with your kids and help
them discover how they learn best. It's important to teach your kids that there are going to be certain
things that they have to be willing to work harder at" (Profile Essay). During my essay writing
process, I could fix these problems easier in the body paragraphs and struggle a bit more with the
intro paragraph. Overall I think that the element of tone was not my best work in my

Hostage Film Techniques
In the 2005 neo–noir film Hostage, directed by Florent Emilio Siri, Chief of police Jeff Dailey helps
negotiate with three hostage keepers to save his own family and two kids. The thrill–seeking, crime
plot is executed very intelligently and you can't often infer what will happen next. The darkness of
the lighting, darkness of humanity, darkness of the setting, visual motifs and archetypes are all
elements of this film that shape it into a neo–noir style. All of these different elements illustrate a
neo–noir style film and help us better understand the plot. The darkness of the lighting is very
important in creating the neo–noir film style in Hostage. The movie has many outdoor night scenes
and the dark lighting is very important here to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Visual motifs are defined as irregular placed objects, objects in the foreground, vertical/horizontal
lines, water and claustrophobic devices. A visual motif used often in this film is the shadows of the
curtains creating horizontal lines on the actors/actresses. When the chief goes into a house to
investigate, it's all dark inside so the sunlight from the window makes the blinds create shadows on
him. During the interrogation phone call with the chief and the hostage holders, the hostage holders
are standing in front of a waterfall–like decoration and the vertically running water is a strong visual
motif here. The vents throughout the house are used as claustrophobic devices and create a strong
dark mood and are a clever visual motif. Like the vents are used to show the darkness of humanity
because of their entrapment, they're also used as a claustrophobic device. When the kids are running
through the vents and being chased, the vents show how trapped they really are because in a vent
system there's nowhere to go. The claustrophobic device helps because you can really see the freight
in their faces. The visual motifs are used very intelligently in this film and they're one more reason
as to why it's a neo–noir style

The City Of New Orleans
In the city of New Orleans emerged one of the most influential music genres in the history of the
United States of America. At the time, New Orleans was known for being a "blending pot" of people
or rather, a location where people from all over the world came together in one place. This city
served as a key seaport in the U.S. allowing for goods to be imported and exported. The purpose of
this city was not only strategic to the growth of the country, but also allowed for the incredible
mixing of cultures, customs, and traditions that led to the creation of one of our nations most
cherished genres of music: jazz.
Jazz emerged towards the beginning of the 20th Century, but didn 't just spring up out of nowhere.
Instead, it was a creation that developed from popular music styles of the 1800s that blended and
combined them to entertain the nation and social dancers. The two main music styles that jazz
consisted of were ragtime and the blues. Both ragtime and the blues had their beginnings in African–
American communities. While both of these music styles strongly contributed to the creation of jazz
and have a lot of similarities, they do have their differences. These differences lie within their
origins, their elements that make up their styles and how these elements influenced jazz, and their
artists and composers.
First of all, ragtime and the blues are similar in that they both originated in the United States. In fact,
they were created in the United States, and had not

Difference Between Modern And Modern Architecture
Contemporary architecture indicates to the style of today's architecture. Its style is not defined;
because it is constantly changing, plus it choses different styles and eras. On the other hand, Modern
Architecture has defined its style. It describes a specific era design, that it leads to the history of
machination and to the 1920s – 1950s styles.
Many people mistaken in defining modern architecture and contemporary architecture, say that both
of them are completely the same. This research paper will show you the comparison between both
modern and contemporary architecture, talking about both characteristics, methods and histories.
Both styles are confusingly used together sometimes; because modern architecture styles and

Modern style has an open floor plan, it shows to the viewer the elements of the structures and as
well the supports. This is why modern style is well known for its simplicity and "honesty"; because
all its materials and elements are exposed and brought out to the viewer. Modern style prefers using
lines, in many of its designs there is a constant in the elements and sharp features. All the structural
elements (windows, fireplace, roof lines, staircases...) shows strongly the inspiration of linear
design. This feature is more outstanding in modern style and less in another. In this style, the lines
are either straight or angles but definitely not curved. Modern style aimed also at having more than
one roof line in different levels, rather than using the classical triangle shape style. This shows off
the complication that modern style has in its design. The Varity number of the lines and ceilings got
it interesting to the viewer for its mixed materials and unique outstanding. This also shows how
modern style sometimes focuses on the architectural design and having an amazing sculptural

Strunk and White’s Elements of Style Essay
Strunk and White's "Elements of Style"

their own family members. For those that are not all that familiar with this "Sci Fi" show, Star Trek
remains as a very well known icon in television history. The crew of the Starship Enterprise traveled
to mysterious planets, through mysterious galaxies. I wonder if this journey couldn't be compared to
the journey of style for the writer.

The laws of gravity operate differently in space then those very same laws operate on earth. For
example, in space, gravity is suspended and things tend to be far more weightless, and floating
about. If you were aiming for an object to land at a certain destination, it would most likely never
make it there without some type of guidance system to manipulate and use the laws of gravity. On
earth, the law of gravity pulls objects down from great heights to great depths in a matter of minutes
or seconds. Depending on the purpose and where you are, it takes an awareness of the laws like
gravity to use that law correctly and fulfill your purpose in space or on earth.
Likewise, style is a law of writing as gravity is a law. Like the law of gravity, we have to be aware of
the laws of style. Gravity exists whether we like it or not. Style also exists whether we want it to or
not. If you ignore the laws of gravity, you will either crash to your death, or be left floating in space.
With style, a writer will either carry the reader to the intended destination, or leave the reader
floating like a man lost in space, without any understanding on what your point was.
I have established a concept of style as a law of writing. This doesn't take away the fact that it is a
complex law. The very word "style" eludes people like the mysteries of deep space. People chase
after different types of styles, pay for the "coolest" style, or even resent

Different Ways Of Implementing Css Styles Into Html
Dean Cartner – CSS
(P1)
There are 3 different ways of implementing CSS styles into html. These are internal, external and
inline. External is when you have a file that only contains CSS code in it and is saved with .css at
the end. External sheets are referenced in the HTML code using <link>. You need to link it from all
HTML pages. Doing so means you only need to set the styles once. This comes in useful if you want
to change the styles later on as you only have to do it in the one place. This is an example.
Internal is when you place all the CSS code in the head section of the code so between <head> and
</head>. As opposed to the external css you don 't need to create a rule for each HTML element.
This is an example of internal CSS code.
Inline is CSS style that is applied to only one element by using the style attributes which means you
can only apply the style you want to a certain instance. These are fairly straight forward and quick to
make which means you don 't have to create a seperate document or create a new element for it in
the head section. This is an example.
(M1)
I am going to explain functions, advantages and disadvantages of External and Inline which are two
different ways to implement CSS. There are several advantages for using external CSS including the
fact that it gives you total control of the layout and structure of your page which allows you to keep
the website and the content separate in your code.

Writing Style Analysis Essay
Introduction Understanding the various modes and methods of writing is important in academic
writing. The following essay will describe, examine, and analyze the methods of three peer reviewed
journal articles from the International Journal of Work, Health, & Organizations, specifically
addressing work and stress.
Describe–Journal Writing Style The publications within the journal selected show a specific writing
style throughout all the articles selected. The writing style that was presented in these articles was a
formal style of writing. A formal style of writing can be classified as academic writing that presents
a certain structure that is to be followed. For instance, these articles presented an abstract to provide

The structure of the publication of these journal articles is presented on three levels. First, the
authors present the background information on the topic to gain an understanding of the topic.
Secondly, the authors present their ideas by conducting a study on the topic selected. The studies
presented are topics that are occasionally discussed or researched so the authors of this journal shed
light on these areas. The final level of structure that the authors present is a discussion and
conclusion of their results. This final level of the articles presents ways for the intended audience to
incorporate the findings in their practice or encourage the audience to pursue further research within
the topic. For example, Deligkaris, Panagopoulou, Montgomery, and Masoura (2014), present in
their conclusion how there are limited studies on burnout in correlation with cognitive impairment
and introduce ideas for future research. In addition, the articles provided practical implications for
management to use within high–stress work environments to support their employees (Pindek &
Spector, 2016; Michailidis & Banks, 2016).
Analyze–Journal Writing connection to Student Writing The writing presented in the journal articles
showe one strong connection to the writings I submit within the classrooms of Capella University.
The major connection is the use of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association (APA) is used. Using APA provides the overall structure of an author's writing. These
articles used headings, references, and citations throughout their work. I use these three elements
consistently, because it allows my work to be organized and my ideas supported based on other
journals related to the same topic.

Gilead : Elements Of Style, And The Climatic Character...
In the novel Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, the fictional aspects of style as well as the relationship
construct between father and son, are two of the many elements that build into the construction of
the climatic character Jack Boughton. In the novel Gilead, the style in which it is composed is that
of a journal entry. Since we receive the story from the John Ames' point of view, it would seem that
the tone and flow of the story would be direct, but after further analysis it seems as though Robinson
hints that she doesn't want the reader to think of the tone in the sense of what Ames directly tells the
audience. When the novel starts, Robinson writes in a descriptive and curious tone to give the
audience a sense of who Ames is. As Robinson's writing progresses she shows that Ames does not
tend to forget much from his sermons or from the experiences he has had during the relationships in
his lifetime, in which he elaborates thoroughly on these two aspect constantly throughout the book.
It is cleared up when Ames states "I don't write the way I speak... I don't write the way I do for the
pulpit either...but I do try to write the way I think". At this point Robinson has let the reader know
who exactly John Ames is. Ames is a preacher, he is on the verge of dying, has built significant
relationships, and he hardly forgets anything what so ever. Soon after the construction of Ames as a
character seems complete, there is a scene in which when a certain name is mentioned, which

Ruby Moon By Matt Cameron
Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron
The Artslink Queensland production of Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron can be described as an
example of the Australian Gothic dramatic style. Ruby Moon, set in picture perfect Flaming Tree
Grove, is about the tragic dilemma of a couple, Ray and Sylvie, trying to cope with the earlier
disappearance of their young daughter, Ruby, while on the way to visit her grandmother at the end
of the cul–de–sac (Queensland Education, 2014).
Matt Cameron 's, Ruby Moon, is an award–winning contemporary Australian playwright and
screenwriter based in Melbourne which depicts a uniquely Australian landscape; employing the
conventions of the Australian Gothic Theatrical style (Queensland Theatre Company, 2009). In the
production of Ruby Moon, the stage setting creates dramatic meaning and purpose. Ruby Moon is
set in an Australian suburban town in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove where Ray and Sylvie 's
daughter, Ruby, disappears on her way to visit her grandma at the end of the cul–de–sac (HCS,
2014). The intimacy and secrecy of the Flaming Tree Grove community and its lack of safety adds
to the supernatural and paranormal intrusions of Australian Gothic Theatre. The Ruby Moon
production was fuelled and inspired by fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White,
Hansel and Gretel, and Alice in Wonderland, and also newspaper headings and stories about families
and their missing children scattered around the world. Matt Cameron 's purpose of the production

The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst Essay
The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst
Foreshadowing, symbolism, and image are all elements which compose style. All are very
important; foreshadowing adds suspense, and symbolism contributes to interpretation. Image
contributes "visual aids" which, also, aid interpretation. In this classic short story, "The Scarlet Ibis,"
by James Hurst, foreshadowing, symbolism, and image combine to create a true literary
masterpiece. Foreshadowing is one of the elements of style which make "The Scarlet Ibis" great. For
example, the author states, "The last graveyard flowers were blooming, and their smell drifted
[through] our house, speaking softly the names of our dead." This passage clearly foreshadows the
death of Doodle. Also, Hurst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
foreshadowing is definitely very important in this story, but two more elements also contribute to the
distinction of its style. Symbolism is another important element in the style of "The Scarlet Ibis." for
example, in Doodle's "lies," the ten foot tail of the small peacock refers to the author's description of
Doodle's full name, "William Armstrong," as "a big tail on a small kite" like the long fancy tail on
the small bird. Also, the grindstone grinds away the years, revealing the brother's memories of
doodle. Moreover, the mahogany coffin symbolizes Doodle's death when his brother forces him to
touch it. Furthermore, beautiful Old Woman Swamp symbolizes paradise for the two boys; there
they spend their happiest days. Finally, the rare scarlet ibis symbolizes Doodle. Both are rare and
wonderful, and both die the same day. Also, Doodle's neck, red with blood, and legs, thin and stiffly
jointed, liken him strongly to the ibis. Symbolism is unmistakably an important element in the style
of this story, but one more factor helps to define the distinct style of this story.
Image is the most important element of style in "The Scarlet Ibis." For example, to depict the
summer of drought and misfortune James Hurst portrays the withered crops shriveling under the
blistering gaze of the thirsty sun. The hurricane is likened to a

variables would be enough to repel authors from this topic, but one author managed to perfectly
describe a dystopian future with his short piece, "Harrison Bergeron." This short story, written by

stylistic elements such as diction, imagery, and details, Vonnegut reveals a grim tone, where even if

The long shots and point of view shots were used so that we can have an idea as to who such
characters are and how their lives are. For example, in the sequence where the ruler of England is
introduced to the audience, the usage of long shots allows us to understand these particular
characters and what they do. In addition, we are able to deduct that these five individuals are to be
considered as top aides to the ruler of England. Even though they possess a sense of authority, they
are still below/under the ruler of England. This was demonstrated through the camera's angling. In
this same sequence the camera angle is at a low angle. This low angle is used to demonstrate the
amount of power the ruler has over these individuals and over the country. The usage of closeups
plays a role in the depiction as to how much power the ruler possesses. Close ups, when effectively
used, can portray power. Because of this sequences frequent use of point of view shots, the audience
is able to relate and to feel the same way the five characters feel during this sequence (feeling
inferior to the ruler of England). This is a representation of McTeigue effectively using framing to
depict a realist style towards viewers by allowing such viewers to relate to the character(s) and

Gothic Elements In Gothic Literature

Uses of Gothic Literature in Short Stories
The style of Gothic Literature was invented around 1764. The Gothic style writing is composed of at
least one or more of the essential gothic elements. Edgar Allen Poe is a famous author of many
mysterious and dark literary works. Most of his stories are said to likely be inspired by personal
horrors. Nathaniel Hawthorne, famous author of The Scarlet Letters uses a similar style based
around dark romanticism often with moral messages and deep psychological complexity. Edgar
Allen Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne's stories, 'The Cask of Amontillado' and 'The Minister's Black
Veil' both demonstrate different, and some of the same elements of gothic literature.
'The Cask of Amontillado' conveys a deep rooting in gothic literature. Poe makes use of a medieval
setting and overwrought emotion to solidify this particular style of writing. The narrator, Montresor,
delineates his descent with Fortunato into the vaults: "I passed down a long and winding staircase...
we stood together on damp ground of the catacombs" (Poe 3). An element often prominent in gothic
literature is the usage of a castle with secrets passages and/or dark, hidden or otherwise ominous
staircases. The Cask of Amontillado's descriptions of the catacombs, vaults and staircase gives the
reader the same kind of eerie feeling. Additionally, Fortunato displays high emotion near the end of
the story. When he realizes his

Analysis Of Jackson 's The Lottery
Analysis of Jackson's "The Lottery"
In the story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson, we see the different literary elements she uses to
unfold her story. Literary elements help readers to interpret and appreciate the works of a writer. In
this Essay I will show you the three most prominent literary elements that were used, and how they
add to the suspense, and surprise of the story. These literary elements are point of view, theme, and
tone and style.
The first literary element of this story is the point of view, and how the writer uses a third–person
narrative style to tell this story. This gives the writer the ability to give details, but not make any real
judgments. When you read the story you feel as if you are there watching what is happening,
looking over the shoulders of the crowd, but not able to know what the people are thinking. In this
story we get an example of how the writer is detached in a way. We don't get to know what the
characters are feeling just what their actions are telling us, like when they choose to whisper instead
of talking at normal volume, or how nervous they seem as the lottery progresses. This writing style
leaves little if any room to get attached to a character. This however is a smart move by Jackson,
because if the story was told from a villager's point of view it could have been far less effective.
When we read we just read about the events of the lottery unfolding. This narrative point of view
adds to the shock factor when we find out

The Elements Of Style By Strunk And White
"The Elements of Style" by Strunk and White introduction to philosophy is that a writer should be
brief and concise with their words. The most important rule of style in Strunk and White element of
style is "omit needless words!" This means that a sentence should not contain anything extra. E. B.
White describes him as someone that puts his heart and soul with rules of usage. He is very
dedicated to writing and wrote down the commonly misused words in a book to help people learn
the English language better.
The first rule I read was, "Enclose parenthetic expressions between commas." An example of rule
one is "February to July, 1992." (E.B White 2) Rule number two is place a comma before for a
conjugation introducing and independent clause, such as "I have heard the arguments, but am still
unconvinced." (E. B White 5) my last rule is, "Do not join independent clauses with a comma. Such
as, "Mary Shelley's works are entertaining. They are full of engaging ideas." (E. B White 6) I
mastered this rule by rereading and understanding the passage I read. Afterwards, my mother would
write five sentences and I would have to correct them. If I got one question wrong, I would have to
redo it. I did this process about six to eight times and finally afterwards, I mastered it.
The first point I found intriguing was the use of active voice. My thought towards this is that the
habitual use makes this vigorous. Active Voice means that it is an unmarked word. This is usually

Tap Dance Research Paper
Dance is an art, celebrated around the world. Different areas and countries of the world are home to
specific world dances, like the flamenco of Spain. Although flamenco has its own unique history,
current context, and elements, it can be compared and contrasted with tap dance, a more familiar
dance style. By analyzing dance elements, such as music and costumes, for both dances, as well as
the historical and current context, one can better understand the similarities and differences between
both dance styles. To begin, the historical context of tap dance is complicated and diverse; there is
not one origin of the dance that most people believe. While some people believe tap has its origins

There are other elements that can accompany the main elements such as rhythmic hand clapping
(palmas) and shouts (jaléo). The dancing of flamenco involves intricate movement of almost every
part of the body as well as a strong performance aspect. The most prominent feature of flamenco is
the rhythmic expressions. The rapid heel and footwork made by the dancer is called zapateado. The
slapping of the thighs and chest, along with the clapping of the hands is called palmas. Stamping
steps with the feet is called marcado, and occasionally there is the playing of the castanet
(castanuella). There are also other lower body movements from the waist down that utilize the hips,
knees and legs. The upper body of the dancer is also very involved. The dancer uses the wrists and
fingers to snap (pitos), and to make fanning, circular movements. She also will use facial
expressions and other personalized movements to enhance the performance (Tomás). A performance
by Celina Zambon to "Alma Libre" shows these elements in unison and shows how emotionally
powerful flamenco can be. Zambon wears the classic, flowy flamenco skirt (pictured below), and

Film Noir: A Style Spanning Genres Essay
The classification and cataloging of items seem to fulfill a basic need in human beings, whether it is
vegetable, mineral or animal. It seems that this basic need to analyze and categorize items applies
also to objets d'art, including film – and the recognition or dismissal of film noir as a genre has been
argued since the term was coined. While the term itself is valid, film noir as a genre is a misnomer.
More properly, film noir should be considered a style unto itself, but definitively not genre, defined
by the very definitions of the words "style" and "genre". We will limit our subject matter here to the
classic film noir period of 1941–1958, recognizing that all modern noir variants seek to emulate this

personal lists of films noir, those that are commonly classified as such share a common theme
perhaps best described by Paul Schrader in his 1972 "Note on Film Noir":
There is a passion for the past and present, but a fear of the future. The noir hero dreads to look
ahead, but instead tries to survive by the day, and if unsuccessful at that, he retreats into the past.
Thus film noir's techniques emphasize loss, nostalgia, lack of clear priorities, insecurity; then
submerge these self–doubts in mannerism and style. In such a world style becomes paramount; it is
all that separates one from meaninglessness.... (5)
This moral ambivalence and relentless cynicism, the overall tone of hopelessness and bleakness is
one of the defining features of this class of films. Mark Conard, in "Philosophy of Film Noir",
references critics Raymond Borde and Étienne Chaumeton as defining noir as a film which creates a
state of tension by removing psychological reference points, in order to create a feeling of alienation
(34). This illustrates that the earliest critics who began to define the body of films noir placed
emphasis on mood and tone, rather than subject material. Nathaniel Rich identifies this tone as
dread, stating that it is "The sense that everything is going to go badly, no matter what happens, and
it's usually going

Edward Richer Essay
Gerhard Richer (1932~) is a German artist who is unique for not conforming to a particular
movement or having his own artistic style. However, his works have been influenced by many art
movements and styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptualism.
He was trained to paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the oppressive East German
communist regime, banned from exposure to American Pop art and other contemporary art (1). Thus
he often explored figurative expression or representation of subjects, until his exposure to abstract
art in West Germany introduced him to an approach to art that was much more expressive of life and
its realities (1). He first started drawing landscapes in the late ... Show more content on

There are a couple of elements that set his painting apart from Friedrich's; that it has a surrealist
element, and that Richter values the characteristics of modern art, meaning that the artwork does not
focus on how to most imitate a subject most faithfully ('realistically') but to capture the essence of it.
The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with the traditional style
of landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it with the orthodox is what
allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart from romantic paintings by
nature's 'indifference'. The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the viewer's search for something to
relate or connect to in the painting – which links to its function and purpose. Sea–Sea is are
particularly significant work for being a sort of stepping stone for Richter. On one hand, we see how
his background of being trained to paint in a traditionalist realistic painting style has influenced his
photorealistic style, but on the other, his desire to move into a more expressive form of art – as the
"discomfiting" element and the inhuman detachment of Sea–Sea

The Death of Sardanapalus Analysis
The Death Of Sardanapalus
Art has been classified into many different types of styles. Some artists reflect the style perfectly in
their works and others express elements from different styles in their pieces. The frvdsRomantic art
style was a unique art style which drew away from the Neoclassical style, which was predominant.
Romantic art was the complete opposite of Neoclassicism. Where neoclassical artists favoured strict
forms, rules and reason and logic; Romantic artists strayed away from that form of painting and
wanted to express individualism and personal emotions into their pieces. Eugene Delacroix's The

In Liberty: Leading the People, Delacroix uses a triangle to compose the piece (Fig 2), with Liberty

compared to The Death of Sardanapalus, " Delacroix's painting offers no clear recession into depth.
There is no logical sense of scale or perspective." (Walsh) The Death of Sardanapalus is just
clustered and a mess with no real balance or logic. Romantic art is characterized as straying away
from traditional art forms, thus this piece is a piece reminiscent to the art style known as
Romanticism. 84 years prior to the creation of the death of Sardanapalus, another renowned French
painter, Jacques–Louis David painted the most famous piece of Neoclassical art, The Oath of the
Horatii. Neoclassicism and Romanticism are two completely opposite things. Whereas
Neoclassicism stresses the importance of balance, logic, and objectivity; Romanticism tries to
emphasize the individual, spontaneity, and intuition. "One wanted to portray the absolute truth of
life and the other wanted to depict reality through images of the wild and raw emotions..."
(Neoclassicism and Romanticism) In The Oath of the Horatii, everything is organized and lined up
neatly and the entire painting just gives off a calm feeling with the invisible brushstrokes and dull
colors. Whereas in The Death of Sardanapalus, everything is just in a state of utter chaos and

The continued relevance of the Symphonic genera through Musical Synthesis In John Adams'
Harmonielehre
In todays' society a musician must grapple with many different artistic realities. The current musical
landscape includes many different styles from music in pop culture to music existing predominantly
in the academic field. In this vast sea of musical styles the compositional career of John Adams was
born. In this ever–changing era of musical styles John Adams has created a style for himself titled
Post–Minimalism. The Post Minimalistic music of John Adams was derived through many cultural
and musical influences of the 1900's and early 2000's, specifically as a reaction to Schoenberg's
Viennese school. John Adams' orchestral work Harmonielehre shows a conscious reaction to
Schoenberg's serial music and a synthesis of many styles of music while including serial elements
from the Viennese school. This connection makes the work of Adams different from other
minimalistic composers at the same time ushering an era of New or Post Minimalism, creating an
accessibility in both the symphonic orchestra and minimalism repetoire that did not exist. As with
many composers the experiences in Adams' past shaped much of his music, specifically his
development of Post Minimalism style along with his synthesis of several musical styles. John
Adams was born and raised in New England and partook in marching band and community
orchestra in his early years. He then

Importance Of Baroque In Art
A number of modern artists have focused on reflecting personal perception of the world through a
contemporary Baroque style in art. The increasing popularity of Baroque nowadays is due to the
complex processes that took place in society and the solutions the modern culture has to offer to
resolve them. Truly, through the history, the emergence of Baroque elements has always reflected
the complexity of human life, followed by technological progress and cultural exchange. Eventually,
Baroque, the style characterized by extravagance and drama, has been defined as anti–classical,
innovative and experimental, intended to touch directly the beholder, individual of diverse and
pluralistic society.
At the same time, Baroque has influenced not every medium of art in the works of contemporary
artists of the 21st century. Such elements as sculpture, architecture, and music have been hardly
influenced by the inspirations of the previous centuries. Indeed, the style that has emerged during
the period of discoveries in new sciences, exploration of new lands, increased trade and the
reformation of church, could barely provide any solutions for artists born three centuries later,
especially in those mediums of art, where the reference for the past signifies of the regression of an
art element development.
Indeed, it is not possible to imagine someone could compete with Gianlorenzo Bernini in feeling of
the Baroque style in sculpture. Thus, the most prominent works of the artist, known for

The Conceptages And Advantages Of The Dynamic HTML
DHTML stands for Dynamic HTML. DHTML is introduced by Microsoft internet explorer 4.0 in
1990. DHTML is not a language or a web standard. DHTML is a combination of JavaScript, CSS,

the combination of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML which allows the document to be animated.
History of DHTML
The first dynamic HTML was developed in the year 1990. Netscape DHTML and Microsoft
DHTML had different ideas about what technologies should be used to make HTML or dynamic.

Preserving the uniqueness of local cultures in their...
As time progresses, the modern day society and cultures are slowly integrating into "a world that is
increasingly becoming one global economically and technologically interdependent whole, where
universal mobility is taking architects and architecture across borders and through continents at an
unprecedented speed." (Tzonis and Lefaivre, 484) The universalizing of culture is in some ways an
advancement for humanity, however global integration is threatening to subtly disintegrate the
stylistic innovation in architecture as the universal styles and cultures takes over. In order to address
the threat of globalization in architecture, it is a imperative to focus on the use of critical regionalism
throughout the world. By the integration of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By paying attention to the lighting conditions of the site, the window, a crucial element in
architectural expression removes itself from the repetitiveness of the universal styles. These add into
the factors of climatic control, bringing up the needlessness of artificial climates which need to be
maintained within the buildings, rather than the interior climate maintaining itself. The usage of
local materials and style also becomes an important factor in keeping the uniqueness of the local
cultures. This does not imply to copy the vernacular style of the area but rather insert a
reinterpretation of the local culture in the creation of the new design. The critical regionalist will
attempt to create a place oriented culture without completely mimicking the traditional styles with
the usage of the local materials and possibly local techniques. With this, the building ends up fitting
with the buildings of the local area. The universal style of architecture does not maintain this
important factor but rather deviates nearly completely from the local styles and materials. An
example of this would be the city of Dubai. With the importation steel and glass, the structures tend
to have little to no relation to the location nor the original culture design styles. Rather than
following the ideal designs that would fit with the extreme heat of the desert, the architects designed

Css And Cascading Style Sheet
CSS or Cascading Style Sheet is a language used to format a document written in a markup
language such as HTML. It is used primarily to format elements such as colour, font, layout, and
positioning. CSS can be used in three different ways. External, embedded and inline. Each of which
I will expand on later. CSS was initially released in December 1996 and has evolved through 4
levels, CSS 1, 2, 2.1 and 3. CSS gives web designers the ability to create 'rules ' and apply these
rules to multiple different elements within a website. In the case of External CSS, this way of
formatting being completely separate from the design means any change required by the client can
be altered on the style sheet and will effect every instance within the site where the CSS is being
used. I will expand more on the three types of CSS later in this presentation. "CSS use can lead to
faster page downloads"[1] Most web browsers will load rules from the CSS once and then cache the
data to use when each page is loaded. This means using CSS in websites "can lead to lighter page
loads"[1], meaning as the browser is simply pulling information from the cache, the web pages will
load much faster then without. This will therefore result in lower requirements from the server side.
Since the majority of CSS is completely separate to the content of the website, making small, spread
changes or troubleshooting any design problems becomes simple. It allows the designer to control
every visual aspect of the

The song "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" by Sly and the Family Stone is a catchy song
that represents the move to a brand new style of music. It represents a style of music that
incorporates both R&B and rock elements. In "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", the band
incorporates aspects of R&B by having the entire song built over a repeating riff in the bass. This
repeating riff in the bass, according to chapter 9 of the book establishes "the song's rhythmic feel or

rhythms in their songs. The aforementioned aspect in the song is significant because the repeating

creative lyrics is something that is an important element of rock. The extended instrumental solos
and creative lyrics in the song are significant because the extended solos make the songs contain an

Why Is It Important To Bring The Earthy-Themed Tuscan Style?
conceptbathrooms.com.au – Bathroom Design Ideas That Bring The Earthy–Themed Tuscan Style
Tuscan style transports you to Italy with its warmth and earthiness. The secret to accomplishing this
style in your bathroom is by utilising certain key, bathroom design ideas. These ideas involve the
use of the right colours, materials, lighting and textures in the proper combination. When a
bathroom includes a true Tuscan flavour, it is a relaxing, comforting room to bathe or groom in each
day.
Tuscan Colours
Colours play a key role in setting the Tuscan tone in a bathroom. Shades of deep orange, yellow,
Mediterranean blue, soft greens and terracotta are just some examples of these colours. One word of
caution here, though, blue is a cool colour and therefore, should be only for accent and not a main
colour. Otherwise, you will make the room lose the warmth you wish to obtain with a Tuscan
design. All of these provide an earthy feel to the bathroom, whether you select to utilise one or two,
or a wide variety of them. Just be certain that all the colours blend together in a non–clashing
manner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gothic Architecture In Europe's Influence On English...
1 INTRODUCTION
Originating in France, which had an even greater impact on English architecture than in previous
centuries, the Gothic style is an era of European architecture and art, starting 1140 and lasting until
the mid–16th century. It is the epoch between Romanesque and Renaissance and heavily makes use
of imagery as well as allegory.
In architecture, the Early, High and Late Gothic periods are distinguished. Depending on
surroundings and time, these periods have developed differently.
Vast cathedrals and churches but also a few domestic buildings provide the strongest representation
of Gothic architectural style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a).
1.1 ORIGIN OF THE TERM "GOTHIC"
The term Gothic originally was a swearword (meaning: barbaric, unfamiliar) which the Italian art
theorist Giorgio Vasari wanted to express his disregard of Gothic art in relation to antiquity. Gothic
architecture was called "opus francigenum" which means "French Style" (Wikipedia contributors,
2017a).
1.2 DEVELOPMENT OF THE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL STYLE
Gothic represented a break with the past which is expressed by getting rid of massive wall
constructions, an emphasis on views and diagonal lines. This style of architecture with its new
elements made buildings seem like or inspired by a skeleton which is a first and has not been
practiced in ancient as well as medieval architecture (Watkin, 2015a).
Gothic architecture draws on basics of Romanesque's technologically developed art of construction

Georgian Style In Colonial America
Georgian Design and the Beginnings of America The American Georgian style ruled American
design from about 1714 to 1830. The Georgian style was inspired by English and European styles of
the time, relied on classical elements, and took inspiration from the Italian Renaissance. Georgian
design was located mainly along the eastern seaboard, where "the old styles gradually gave way to
the Georgian, and there came for the first time a large degree of uniformity to American
architecture" (Wertenbaker, 1943, p. 66). Craftsmanship was a big part of early American life, and
people liked to show off their quality homes, eventually displaying their stations by "maintaining
codes of dress, speech, and behavior" (Architectural Style Guide). Georgian American design had
many different influences while adapting to suit the settlers needs. There are several beautiful
examples of this style still intact today. While the Georgian American style was one of the earliest

The Elements Of Style By William Strunk Jr.
William Strunk Jr., an English professor at Cornell University in 1919 required his students to have
the textbook The Elements of Style, written by William Strunk Jr. himself. It was referred to as the
"little" book and was a forty–three–page summary of the case for cleanliness, accuracy and brevity
in the use of English (Strunk & White, 2000). These rules are in the form of sharp commands,
shining light on Sergeant Strunk's personality and approach to teaching. E.B. White, a former
student of Strunk, revised the book he was given, years after his professor passed away. White does
not soften the direct orders of the original book, but "preserves the flavor of his discontent while
enlarging the scope of the discussion" (Strunk & White, 2000 xiv). The Elements of Style provides
the readers with a convenient reference for grammar, while emphasizing the importance of omitting
needless words, using concrete language and active voice all in a suitable design. "When he
delivered his oration on brevity to the class, he leaned forward over his desk, grasped his coast
lapels in his hands, and, in a husky, conspiratorial voice, said, "Rule Seventeen. Omit needless
words! Omit needless words! Omit needless words!" (Strunk & White, 2000, xv). Strunk provides
an image for the most important aspect of his book. The repetition of this rule throughout the entire
book, proves not only the importance of it to Professor Strunk, but to writing as a whole. The

Comparing Gothic Churches Vs. Freque Churches
I personally found Gothic style churches to be more architecturally appealing than the Romanesque
ones. The reason for this is Gothic churches were filled with light and thin, towering walls. These
characteristics were very uncommon for the dark, thick structures of Romanesque architecture. The
structure was able to be filled with such light due to three very important architectural elements.
These elements include pointed arches, ribbed vaulting, and buttresses. Thanks to these elements
stained glass windows were added to Gothic cathedrals. The translucent walls were more than just
decoration. The windows allowed for the illiterate public to interact with Christian scripture. Overall
in my opinion the elements of Gothic architecture is better than the Romanesque architecture.

The two styles are polar opposites of each other. Gothic architectural structures were thin, light–
filled, towering structures. Romanesque architectural structures were dark, thick, and short. The new
Gothic style created the light filled and towering looks by replacing elements of Romanesque
churches. The style replaced round arches with pointed arches that weren't limited to width and
height. It also moved the massive piers of Romanesque churches to the exterior. This created flying
buttresses which are stone arms that braced the nave walls. This allowed for the walls to be filled
with glass instead of masonry. Masonry was a huge characteristic of Romanesque architecture.
These churches were filled with paintings and mosques on the walls. There was no need for light to
fill the churches because the public didn't use them only monks. This changed in the Gothic period
and the public was finally allowed access to the churches. The architects then decided to open up the
structures and allow divine light

Residential Space Plan

  • 1. Residential Space Plan Dear, Mr. & Mrs. Reid, Concept Statement Per your request, I created a residential space plan that encompasses all of your requirements. Based on your desire to stay true to the international style, I used influences from 20th century architect Le Corbusier as the design template for all furniture and built–in furnishings. I also used materials and colors that would encapsulate the style, elements, and principles of the International style. The atmosphere of the condo will be one of that radiates calmness and produces a sense of energy for all those who enter. This sense of calmness will be further supported by the linear and open floor plan. The apartment is oriented as an open space plan allowing for increased mobility and people flow throughout the space. Universal design and ADA requirements were used to determine the room and furniture layout allowing everyone including your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main elements of the condo design is color. I used color as a tool to emphasize certain materials and designs within the space. I also introduced iconic design elements of international style such as the marble wall that was showcased in the Barcelona Pavilion design by Mies van der Rohe. To keep with the growing trend of modernism in the Seattle design market, I introduced the marble wall as a floating art piece. This feature also further explore the use of visual weightless elements of The International Style. Additionally, I introduced modern aspects of the space through introduction of materials such as concrete, steel, metal, and glass. I emphasized and applied the element of line, profoundly into the design to create the illusion of space by directing the eye to linear and vertical design aspects. I added a sense of playfulness through the furniture designs, custom lighting, and original pieces by Le ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Critical Analysis of Jiri Kylian’s Choreographic Style in... Anna Kisselgoff a professional dance critic believes; Jiri Kylian's choreography resulted in 'scores of younger choreographers being influenced by the emotional and kinetic thrust of his signature style, a highly physical fusion of ballet technique with the idiomatic freedom of modern dance. As an artist, he has been remarkably deep and original.' Jiri Kylian's 'Black and White' ballets, premiered on May 7, 1988, have a number of defining characteristics which create a unique contemporary style. Elements of movement, theatrical elements and themes are carried through all six dances which creates a number of motifs throughout the series of dance works. All six dances in the 'black and white' ballets are based on sexuality. The male ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another common feature of all the dances is that the music is an irregular rhythm, creating suspense and standing out as individual. Kylian's choreography uses the ability to isolate and coordinate different body parts as well as the use of hands to communicate meaning in all of his dances. Humor is often created as a result in over the top facial expressions like in 'six dances'. Kylian as a contemporary choreographer uses stillness as a choreographic device in all of his dances. Another unique element to his dance style is the entrances and exits of the performers. He explores space's limitations and capabilities making the entrances and exits part of the dance. In all of Jiri Kylian's dances, the dancers enter and exit the stage into darkness rather than through wings. The dancers in all Jiri Kylian's Black and white ballets, dance predominately in a large group, with individuals or pairs breaking off to do their individual movements before soon joining back in with the group. The use of theatrical elements in Jiri Kylian's dances is a defining characteristic of his style as a choreographer. He chooses to use plain, often nude coloured costumes in all his dances, for example in 'Sarabanade' and 'Petite mort', the dancers look naked. This is a personal choice and was done to reinforce his views that dance should be about 'dancing not the costumes'. Also this nude costuming matches the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. English 101 Reflective Essay English class has never been my strong suite. I always had to work twice as hard in English then I did in any other class. Writing paper always had me stressed and overwhelmed, I felt discouraged in my work. l never seemed to be able to get to the level I wanted to. I would try my hardest and paid attention in class, but when it came to writing the paper none of that seemed to help. I think that my experience in English Composition 1 has helped gain and grow in some areas, but I don't think that it highlights a well–written college essay. Some elements that I worked to improving was introduction paragraphs, tone, style, and thesis statements. Throughout my experience in English 101, I gained information on the element ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During high school, I seemed to get marked done for the tone used in my paper. I learned in this class that tone is a very important element in writing a paper, and can help the paper flow better. My sentences in my high school papers didn't vary in length very well then. I always had a problem with short choppy sentences. When writing my profile essay, research easy, and personal essay I tried to make sure I had a variety of sentence lengths. I feel I gained some improve on this element, I know I still have issues but I have grown from where I was before. Some papers were stronger than others and I struggled a bit more when constructing my paragraphs. My strongest paper in tone I would feel was my Personal essay. "She wants them to believe they can do whatever their hearts desire but they have to be willing to work for it. As a mother, it's important to work with your kids and help them discover how they learn best. It's important to teach your kids that there are going to be certain things that they have to be willing to work harder at" (Profile Essay). During my essay writing process, I could fix these problems easier in the body paragraphs and struggle a bit more with the intro paragraph. • 7. Hostage Film Techniques In the 2005 neo–noir film Hostage, directed by Florent Emilio Siri, Chief of police Jeff Dailey helps negotiate with three hostage keepers to save his own family and two kids. The thrill–seeking, crime plot is executed very intelligently and you can't often infer what will happen next. The darkness of the lighting, darkness of humanity, darkness of the setting, visual motifs and archetypes are all elements of this film that shape it into a neo–noir style. All of these different elements illustrate a neo–noir style film and help us better understand the plot. The darkness of the lighting is very important in creating the neo–noir film style in Hostage. The movie has many outdoor night scenes and the dark lighting is very important here to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Visual motifs are defined as irregular placed objects, objects in the foreground, vertical/horizontal lines, water and claustrophobic devices. A visual motif used often in this film is the shadows of the curtains creating horizontal lines on the actors/actresses. When the chief goes into a house to investigate, it's all dark inside so the sunlight from the window makes the blinds create shadows on him. During the interrogation phone call with the chief and the hostage holders, the hostage holders are standing in front of a waterfall–like decoration and the vertically running water is a strong visual motif here. The vents throughout the house are used as claustrophobic devices and create a strong dark mood and are a clever visual motif. Like the vents are used to show the darkness of humanity because of their entrapment, they're also used as a claustrophobic device. When the kids are running through the vents and being chased, the vents show how trapped they really are because in a vent system there's nowhere to go. The claustrophobic device helps because you can really see the freight in their faces. The visual motifs are used very intelligently in this film and they're one more reason as to why it's a neo–noir style ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The City Of New Orleans In the city of New Orleans emerged one of the most influential music genres in the history of the United States of America. At the time, New Orleans was known for being a "blending pot" of people or rather, a location where people from all over the world came together in one place. This city served as a key seaport in the U.S. allowing for goods to be imported and exported. The purpose of this city was not only strategic to the growth of the country, but also allowed for the incredible mixing of cultures, customs, and traditions that led to the creation of one of our nations most cherished genres of music: jazz. Jazz emerged towards the beginning of the 20th Century, but didn 't just spring up out of nowhere. Instead, it was a creation that developed from popular music styles of the 1800s that blended and combined them to entertain the nation and social dancers. The two main music styles that jazz consisted of were ragtime and the blues. Both ragtime and the blues had their beginnings in African– American communities. While both of these music styles strongly contributed to the creation of jazz and have a lot of similarities, they do have their differences. These differences lie within their origins, their elements that make up their styles and how these elements influenced jazz, and their artists and composers. First of all, ragtime and the blues are similar in that they both originated in the United States. In fact, they were created in the United States, and had not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its style is not defined; because it is constantly changing, plus it choses different styles and eras. On the other hand, Modern Architecture has defined its style. It describes a specific era design, that it leads to the history of machination and to the 1920s – 1950s styles. Many people mistaken in defining modern architecture and contemporary architecture, say that both of them are completely the same. This research paper will show you the comparison between both modern and contemporary architecture, talking about both characteristics, methods and histories. It likes its owner to enjoy the inner function and the main purpose of it. The materials and the elements are purely shown in the space, there is nothing that is hidden or hard to look up for. Modern style has an open floor plan, it shows to the viewer the elements of the structures and as well the supports. This is why modern style is well known for its simplicity and "honesty"; because all its materials and elements are exposed and brought out to the viewer. Modern style prefers using lines, in many of its designs there is a constant in the elements and sharp features. All the structural elements (windows, fireplace, roof lines, staircases...) shows strongly the inspiration of linear design. This feature is more outstanding in modern style and less in another. In this style, the lines are either straight or angles but definitely not curved. Modern style aimed also at having more than one roof line in different levels, rather than using the classical triangle shape style. This shows off the complication that modern style has in its design. The Varity number of the lines and ceilings got it interesting to the viewer for its mixed materials and unique outstanding. This also shows how modern style sometimes focuses on the architectural design and having an amazing sculptural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strunk and White’s Elements of Style Essay Strunk and White's "Elements of Style" A typical science fiction fan can be more familiar about Star Trek and it's characters than some of their own family members. For those that are not all that familiar with this "Sci Fi" show, Star Trek remains as a very well known icon in television history. The crew of the Starship Enterprise traveled to mysterious planets, through mysterious galaxies. I wonder if this journey couldn't be compared to the journey of style for the writer. In Strunk and White's "Elements of Style" they state, "Who knows why certain notes in music are capable of stirring the listener deeply, though the same notes slightly rearranged are impotent? These are high mysteries...There is no satisfactory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The laws of gravity operate differently in space then those very same laws operate on earth. For example, in space, gravity is suspended and things tend to be far more weightless, and floating about. If you were aiming for an object to land at a certain destination, it would most likely never make it there without some type of guidance system to manipulate and use the laws of gravity. On earth, the law of gravity pulls objects down from great heights to great depths in a matter of minutes or seconds. Depending on the purpose and where you are, it takes an awareness of the laws like gravity to use that law correctly and fulfill your purpose in space or on earth. Likewise, style is a law of writing as gravity is a law. Like the law of gravity, we have to be aware of the laws of style. Gravity exists whether we like it or not. Style also exists whether we want it to or not. If you ignore the laws of gravity, you will either crash to your death, or be left floating in space. With style, a writer will either carry the reader to the intended destination, or leave the reader floating like a man lost in space, without any understanding on what your point was. I have established a concept of style as a law of writing. This doesn't take away the fact that it is a complex law. The very word "style" eludes people like the mysteries of deep space. People chase after different types of styles, pay for the "coolest" style, or even resent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Different Ways Of Implementing Css Styles Into Html Dean Cartner – CSS (P1) There are 3 different ways of implementing CSS styles into html. These are internal, external and inline. External is when you have a file that only contains CSS code in it and is saved with .css at the end. External sheets are referenced in the HTML code using <link>. You need to link it from all HTML pages. Doing so means you only need to set the styles once. This comes in useful if you want to change the styles later on as you only have to do it in the one place. This is an example. Internal is when you place all the CSS code in the head section of the code so between <head> and </head>. As opposed to the external css you don 't need to create a rule for each HTML element. This is an example of internal CSS code. Inline is CSS style that is applied to only one element by using the style attributes which means you can only apply the style you want to a certain instance. These are fairly straight forward and quick to make which means you don 't have to create a seperate document or create a new element for it in the head section. This is an example. (M1) I am going to explain functions, advantages and disadvantages of External and Inline which are two different ways to implement CSS. There are several advantages for using external CSS including the fact that it gives you total control of the layout and structure of your page which allows you to keep the website and the content separate in your code. ... The following essay will describe, examine, and analyze the methods of three peer reviewed journal articles from the International Journal of Work, Health, & Organizations, specifically addressing work and stress. Describe–Journal Writing Style The publications within the journal selected show a specific writing style throughout all the articles selected. The writing style that was presented in these articles was a formal style of writing. A formal style of writing can be classified as academic writing that presents a certain structure that is to be followed. The structure of the publication of these journal articles is presented on three levels. First, the authors present the background information on the topic to gain an understanding of the topic. Secondly, the authors present their ideas by conducting a study on the topic selected. The studies presented are topics that are occasionally discussed or researched so the authors of this journal shed light on these areas. The final level of structure that the authors present is a discussion and conclusion of their results. • 19. Gilead : Elements Of Style, And The Climatic Character... In the novel Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, the fictional aspects of style as well as the relationship construct between father and son, are two of the many elements that build into the construction of the climatic character Jack Boughton. In the novel Gilead, the style in which it is composed is that of a journal entry. Since we receive the story from the John Ames' point of view, it would seem that the tone and flow of the story would be direct, but after further analysis it seems as though Robinson hints that she doesn't want the reader to think of the tone in the sense of what Ames directly tells the audience. When the novel starts, Robinson writes in a descriptive and curious tone to give the audience a sense of who Ames is. As Robinson's writing progresses she shows that Ames does not tend to forget much from his sermons or from the experiences he has had during the relationships in his lifetime, in which he elaborates thoroughly on these two aspect constantly throughout the book. It is cleared up when Ames states "I don't write the way I speak... I don't write the way I do for the pulpit either...but I do try to write the way I think". At this point Robinson has let the reader know who exactly John Ames is. Ames is a preacher, he is on the verge of dying, has built significant relationships, and he hardly forgets anything what so ever. Soon after the construction of Ames as a character seems complete, there is a scene in which when a certain name is mentioned, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Ruby Moon By Matt Cameron Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron The Artslink Queensland production of Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron can be described as an example of the Australian Gothic dramatic style. Ruby Moon, set in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove, is about the tragic dilemma of a couple, Ray and Sylvie, trying to cope with the earlier disappearance of their young daughter, Ruby, while on the way to visit her grandmother at the end of the cul–de–sac (Queensland Education, 2014). Matt Cameron 's, Ruby Moon, is an award–winning contemporary Australian playwright and screenwriter based in Melbourne which depicts a uniquely Australian landscape; employing the conventions of the Australian Gothic Theatrical style (Queensland Theatre Company, 2009). Ruby Moon is set in an Australian suburban town in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove where Ray and Sylvie 's daughter, Ruby, disappears on her way to visit her grandma at the end of the cul–de–sac (HCS, 2014). The intimacy and secrecy of the Flaming Tree Grove community and its lack of safety adds to the supernatural and paranormal intrusions of Australian Gothic Theatre. • 25. The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst Essay The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst Foreshadowing, symbolism, and image are all elements which compose style. All are very important; foreshadowing adds suspense, and symbolism contributes to interpretation. Image contributes "visual aids" which, also, aid interpretation. In this classic short story, "The Scarlet Ibis," by James Hurst, foreshadowing, symbolism, and image combine to create a true literary masterpiece. Foreshadowing is one of the elements of style which make "The Scarlet Ibis" great. For example, the author states, "The last graveyard flowers were blooming, and their smell drifted [through] our house, speaking softly the names of our dead." This passage clearly foreshadows the death of Doodle. Also, Hurst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... foreshadowing is definitely very important in this story, but two more elements also contribute to the distinction of its style. Symbolism is another important element in the style of "The Scarlet Ibis." for example, in Doodle's "lies," the ten foot tail of the small peacock refers to the author's description of Doodle's full name, "William Armstrong," as "a big tail on a small kite" like the long fancy tail on the small bird. Also, the grindstone grinds away the years, revealing the brother's memories of doodle. Moreover, the mahogany coffin symbolizes Doodle's death when his brother forces him to touch it. Furthermore, beautiful Old Woman Swamp symbolizes paradise for the two boys; there they spend their happiest days. Finally, the rare scarlet ibis symbolizes Doodle. Both are rare and wonderful, and both die the same day. Also, Doodle's neck, red with blood, and legs, thin and stiffly jointed, liken him strongly to the ibis. Symbolism is unmistakably an important element in the style of this story, but one more factor helps to define the distinct style of this story. Image is the most important element of style in "The Scarlet Ibis." These variables would be enough to repel authors from this topic, but one author managed to perfectly describe a dystopian future with his short piece, "Harrison Bergeron." This short story, written by Kurt Vonnegut, has been renowned for showing an almost perfect dystopia. This is a representation of McTeigue presenting a realist style to the audience through elements and characters within the film through the effective usage of colors. The usage of costume (with regards to the mis en scene) played an integral role in McTeigue presenting a realist style to the audience. In the sequence we are presented where Evey works, we are exposed to an individual who is dressed differently than anyone else. For example, in the sequence where the ruler of England is introduced to the audience, the usage of long shots allows us to understand these particular characters and what they do. In addition, we are able to deduct that these five individuals are to be considered as top aides to the ruler of England. Even though they possess a sense of authority, they are still below/under the ruler of England. This was demonstrated through the camera's angling. In this same sequence the camera angle is at a low angle. This low angle is used to demonstrate the amount of power the ruler has over these individuals and over the country. The usage of closeups plays a role in the depiction as to how much power the ruler possesses. Close ups, when effectively used, can portray power. Because of this sequences frequent use of point of view shots, the audience is able to relate and to feel the same way the five characters feel during this sequence (feeling inferior to the ruler of England). • 31. Gothic Elements In Gothic Literature Natalie Earl Mrs. Kanney Honors ELA 9 3 October, 2017 Uses of Gothic Literature in Short Stories The style of Gothic Literature was invented around 1764. The Gothic style writing is composed of at least one or more of the essential gothic elements. Edgar Allen Poe is a famous author of many mysterious and dark literary works. Most of his stories are said to likely be inspired by personal horrors. Nathaniel Hawthorne, famous author of The Scarlet Letters uses a similar style based around dark romanticism often with moral messages and deep psychological complexity. Edgar Allen Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne's stories, 'The Cask of Amontillado' and 'The Minister's Black Veil' both demonstrate different, and some of the same elements of gothic literature. 'The Cask of Amontillado' conveys a deep rooting in gothic literature. Poe makes use of a medieval setting and overwrought emotion to solidify this particular style of writing. The narrator, Montresor, delineates his descent with Fortunato into the vaults: "I passed down a long and winding staircase... we stood together on damp ground of the catacombs" (Poe 3). An element often prominent in gothic literature is the usage of a castle with secrets passages and/or dark, hidden or otherwise ominous staircases. The Cask of Amontillado's descriptions of the catacombs, vaults and staircase gives the reader the same kind of eerie feeling. Additionally, Fortunato displays high emotion near the end of the story. • 33. Analysis Of Jackson 's The Lottery Analysis of Jackson's "The Lottery" In the story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson, we see the different literary elements she uses to unfold her story. Literary elements help readers to interpret and appreciate the works of a writer. In this Essay I will show you the three most prominent literary elements that were used, and how they add to the suspense, and surprise of the story. These literary elements are point of view, theme, and tone and style. The first literary element of this story is the point of view, and how the writer uses a third–person narrative style to tell this story. This gives the writer the ability to give details, but not make any real judgments. When you read the story you feel as if you are there watching what is happening, looking over the shoulders of the crowd, but not able to know what the people are thinking. In this story we get an example of how the writer is detached in a way. We don't get to know what the characters are feeling just what their actions are telling us, like when they choose to whisper instead of talking at normal volume, or how nervous they seem as the lottery progresses. This writing style leaves little if any room to get attached to a character. This however is a smart move by Jackson, because if the story was told from a villager's point of view it could have been far less effective. When we read we just read about the events of the lottery unfolding. This narrative point of view adds to the shock factor when we find out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Elements Of Style By Strunk And White "The Elements of Style" by Strunk and White introduction to philosophy is that a writer should be brief and concise with their words. The most important rule of style in Strunk and White element of style is "omit needless words!" This means that a sentence should not contain anything extra. E. B. White describes him as someone that puts his heart and soul with rules of usage. He is very dedicated to writing and wrote down the commonly misused words in a book to help people learn the English language better. The first rule I read was, "Enclose parenthetic expressions between commas." An example of rule one is "February to July, 1992." (E.B White 2) Rule number two is place a comma before for a conjugation introducing and independent clause, such as "I have heard the arguments, but am still unconvinced." (E. B White 5) my last rule is, "Do not join independent clauses with a comma. Such as, "Mary Shelley's works are entertaining. They are full of engaging ideas." (E. B White 6) I mastered this rule by rereading and understanding the passage I read. Afterwards, my mother would write five sentences and I would have to correct them. If I got one question wrong, I would have to redo it. I did this process about six to eight times and finally afterwards, I mastered it. The first point I found intriguing was the use of active voice. My thought towards this is that the habitual use makes this vigorous. Active Voice means that it is an unmarked word. By analyzing dance elements, such as music and costumes, for both dances, as well as the historical and current context, one can better understand the similarities and differences between both dance styles. There are other elements that can accompany the main elements such as rhythmic hand clapping (palmas) and shouts (jaléo). The dancing of flamenco involves intricate movement of almost every part of the body as well as a strong performance aspect. The most prominent feature of flamenco is the rhythmic expressions. The rapid heel and footwork made by the dancer is called zapateado. The slapping of the thighs and chest, along with the clapping of the hands is called palmas. Stamping steps with the feet is called marcado, and occasionally there is the playing of the castanet (castanuella). There are also other lower body movements from the waist down that utilize the hips, knees and legs. The upper body of the dancer is also very involved. The dancer uses the wrists and fingers to snap (pitos), and to make fanning, circular movements. She also will use facial expressions and other personalized movements to enhance the performance (Tomás). • 39. Film Noir: A Style Spanning Genres Essay The classification and cataloging of items seem to fulfill a basic need in human beings, whether it is vegetable, mineral or animal. It seems that this basic need to analyze and categorize items applies also to objets d'art, including film – and the recognition or dismissal of film noir as a genre has been argued since the term was coined. While the term itself is valid, film noir as a genre is a misnomer. More properly, film noir should be considered a style unto itself, but definitively not genre, defined by the very definitions of the words "style" and "genre". We will limit our subject matter here to the classic film noir period of 1941–1958, recognizing that all modern noir variants seek to emulate this period. These modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While there is no decisive list of these films, and critics tend to add or remove films from their own personal lists of films noir, those that are commonly classified as such share a common theme perhaps best described by Paul Schrader in his 1972 "Note on Film Noir": There is a passion for the past and present, but a fear of the future. The noir hero dreads to look ahead, but instead tries to survive by the day, and if unsuccessful at that, he retreats into the past. Thus film noir's techniques emphasize loss, nostalgia, lack of clear priorities, insecurity; then submerge these self–doubts in mannerism and style. In such a world style becomes paramount; it is all that separates one from meaninglessness.... (5) This moral ambivalence and relentless cynicism, the overall tone of hopelessness and bleakness is one of the defining features of this class of films. Mark Conard, in "Philosophy of Film Noir", references critics Raymond Borde and Étienne Chaumeton as defining noir as a film which creates a state of tension by removing psychological reference points, in order to create a feeling of alienation (34). This illustrates that the earliest critics who began to define the body of films noir placed emphasis on mood and tone, rather than subject material. Nathaniel Rich identifies this tone as dread, stating that it is "The sense that everything is going to go badly, no matter what happens, and it's usually going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, his works have been influenced by many art movements and styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptualism. He was trained to paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the oppressive East German communist regime, banned from exposure to American Pop art and other contemporary art (1). The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with the traditional style of landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it with the orthodox is what allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart from romantic paintings by nature's 'indifference'. The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the viewer's search for something to relate or connect to in the painting – which links to its function and purpose. Sea–Sea is are particularly significant work for being a sort of stepping stone for Richter. There is no logical sense of scale or perspective." (Walsh) The Death of Sardanapalus is just clustered and a mess with no real balance or logic. Romantic art is characterized as straying away from traditional art forms, thus this piece is a piece reminiscent to the art style known as Romanticism. 84 years prior to the creation of the death of Sardanapalus, another renowned French painter, Jacques–Louis David painted the most famous piece of Neoclassical art, The Oath of the Horatii. Neoclassicism and Romanticism are two completely opposite things. • 53. Importance Of Baroque In Art A number of modern artists have focused on reflecting personal perception of the world through a contemporary Baroque style in art. The increasing popularity of Baroque nowadays is due to the complex processes that took place in society and the solutions the modern culture has to offer to resolve them. Truly, through the history, the emergence of Baroque elements has always reflected the complexity of human life, followed by technological progress and cultural exchange. Eventually, Baroque, the style characterized by extravagance and drama, has been defined as anti–classical, innovative and experimental, intended to touch directly the beholder, individual of diverse and pluralistic society. At the same time, Baroque has influenced not every medium of art in the works of contemporary artists of the 21st century. Such elements as sculpture, architecture, and music have been hardly influenced by the inspirations of the previous centuries. Indeed, the style that has emerged during the period of discoveries in new sciences, exploration of new lands, increased trade and the reformation of church, could barely provide any solutions for artists born three centuries later, especially in those mediums of art, where the reference for the past signifies of the regression of an art element development. Indeed, it is not possible to imagine someone could compete with Gianlorenzo Bernini in feeling of the Baroque style in sculpture. Thus, the most prominent works of the artist, known for ... The critical regionalist will attempt to create a place oriented culture without completely mimicking the traditional styles with the usage of the local materials and possibly local techniques. With this, the building ends up fitting with the buildings of the local area. The universal style of architecture does not maintain this important factor but rather deviates nearly completely from the local styles and materials. An example of this would be the city of Dubai. With the importation steel and glass, the structures tend to have little to no relation to the location nor the original culture design styles. Rather than following the ideal designs that would fit with the extreme heat of the desert, the architects designed what are essentially green houses in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Css And Cascading Style Sheet CSS or Cascading Style Sheet is a language used to format a document written in a markup language such as HTML. It is used primarily to format elements such as colour, font, layout, and positioning. CSS can be used in three different ways. External, embedded and inline. Each of which I will expand on later. CSS was initially released in December 1996 and has evolved through 4 levels, CSS 1, 2, 2.1 and 3. CSS gives web designers the ability to create 'rules ' and apply these rules to multiple different elements within a website. In the case of External CSS, this way of formatting being completely separate from the design means any change required by the client can be altered on the style sheet and will effect every instance within the site where the CSS is being used. I will expand more on the three types of CSS later in this presentation. "CSS use can lead to faster page downloads"[1] Most web browsers will load rules from the CSS once and then cache the data to use when each page is loaded. This means using CSS in websites "can lead to lighter page loads"[1], meaning as the browser is simply pulling information from the cache, the web pages will load much faster then without. This will therefore result in lower requirements from the server side. Since the majority of CSS is completely separate to the content of the website, making small, spread changes or troubleshooting any design problems becomes simple. It allows the designer to control every visual aspect of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Irish Impact On Traditional Music In order to make it's impact on traditional music the accordion had to develop a recognizably Irish style of playing in order for it to be associated with the Irish style of playing. As Irish traditional music involves a large variety of dance music tunes whose phrasing, rhythm, pitch and structure served as a crucial element of its particular genre. It might be said that the very construction of the accordion was suited to these elements particularly well especially the rhythmic element. As the same dance tunes that could be played on fiddles and pipes were played on the accordion and could still sound the same even though their sound was in two completely different dialects. Also the dynamic capability of the instrument is ne of the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin: Song Analysis The song "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" by Sly and the Family Stone is a catchy song that represents the move to a brand new style of music. It represents a style of music that incorporates both R&B and rock elements. In "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", the band incorporates aspects of R&B by having the entire song built over a repeating riff in the bass. This repeating riff in the bass, according to chapter 9 of the book establishes "the song's rhythmic feel or 'groove'." This is considered an element of the R&B genre because R&B is known to have repetitive rhythms in their songs. The aforementioned aspect in the song is significant because the repeating riff is what made this song successful due to the catchiness of the rhythm or "groove". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" contains extended instrumental solos which I believe is a common trait for psychedelic rock. Although the beat structure of the song is fairly simple in comparison to many psychedelic rock songs in my opinion, it does contain creative lyrics. The creative lyrics is something that is an important element of rock. The extended instrumental solos and creative lyrics in the song are significant because the extended solos make the songs contain an upbeat tempo while the creative lyrics shows the song has an ulterior meaning to it. Combining both elements from R&B and rock is significant in general because it creates a new musical style or genre. The combination of these elements in this song show that it has a funk–rock style/genre. The funk–rock genre has grown and the band Sly and the Family Stone were instrumental in the popularizing of this genre and also influencing future artists to sing this ... Why Is It Important To Bring The Earthy-Themed Tuscan Style? conceptbathrooms.com.au – Bathroom Design Ideas That Bring The Earthy–Themed Tuscan Style Tuscan style transports you to Italy with its warmth and earthiness. The secret to accomplishing this style in your bathroom is by utilising certain key, bathroom design ideas. These ideas involve the use of the right colours, materials, lighting and textures in the proper combination. When a bathroom includes a true Tuscan flavour, it is a relaxing, comforting room to bathe or groom in each day. Tuscan Colours Colours play a key role in setting the Tuscan tone in a bathroom. Shades of deep orange, yellow, Mediterranean blue, soft greens and terracotta are just some examples of these colours. One word of caution here, though, blue is a cool colour and therefore, should be only for accent and not a main colour. Otherwise, you will make the room lose the warmth you wish to obtain with a Tuscan design. All of these provide an earthy feel to the bathroom, whether you select to utilise one or two, or a wide variety of them. Just be certain that all the colours blend together in a non–clashing manner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 67. Gothic Architecture In Europe's Influence On English... 1 INTRODUCTION Originating in France, which had an even greater impact on English architecture than in previous centuries, the Gothic style is an era of European architecture and art, starting 1140 and lasting until the mid–16th century. It is the epoch between Romanesque and Renaissance and heavily makes use of imagery as well as allegory. In architecture, the Early, High and Late Gothic periods are distinguished. Depending on surroundings and time, these periods have developed differently. Vast cathedrals and churches but also a few domestic buildings provide the strongest representation of Gothic architectural style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a). 1.1 ORIGIN OF THE TERM "GOTHIC" The term Gothic originally was a swearword (meaning: barbaric, unfamiliar) which the Italian art theorist Giorgio Vasari wanted to express his disregard of Gothic art in relation to antiquity. Gothic architecture was called "opus francigenum" which means "French Style" (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a). 1.2 DEVELOPMENT OF THE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL STYLE Gothic represented a break with the past which is expressed by getting rid of massive wall constructions, an emphasis on views and diagonal lines. This style of architecture with its new elements made buildings seem like or inspired by a skeleton which is a first and has not been practiced in ancient as well as medieval architecture (Watkin, 2015a). Gothic architecture draws on basics of Romanesque's technologically developed art of construction and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of multimedia forming tension and mood, this also exemplifies that postmodern styles can allow a vast range of dramatic elements to be displayed in many different aspects, which enables the theme of bullying to be explored with depth. This, too, empathises with modern Australian theatre, as the on going issue of bullying engages the audience and connects with todays current social values. Furthermore, despite this skill of drama being one that is considered minor, the sound effects still assisted with achieving the key themes within the storyline. Sound effects are ... • 73. Georgian Style In Colonial America Georgian Design and the Beginnings of America The American Georgian style ruled American design from about 1714 to 1830. The Georgian style was inspired by English and European styles of the time, relied on classical elements, and took inspiration from the Italian Renaissance. Georgian design was located mainly along the eastern seaboard, where "the old styles gradually gave way to the Georgian, and there came for the first time a large degree of uniformity to American architecture" (Wertenbaker, 1943, p. 66). Craftsmanship was a big part of early American life, and people liked to show off their quality homes, eventually displaying their stations by "maintaining codes of dress, speech, and behavior" (Architectural Style Guide). Georgian American design had many different influences while adapting to suit the settlers needs. There are several beautiful examples of this style still intact today. As a result, King George III started taxing the colonists; he also used the taxes to try to regain control that he had lost (The Boston Tea Party). There were several different taxes imposed, but the attempt to tax tea was the last straw. The result was the Boston Tea Party (1773). • 75. The Elements Of Style By William Strunk Jr. William Strunk Jr., an English professor at Cornell University in 1919 required his students to have the textbook The Elements of Style, written by William Strunk Jr. himself. It was referred to as the "little" book and was a forty–three–page summary of the case for cleanliness, accuracy and brevity in the use of English (Strunk & White, 2000). These rules are in the form of sharp commands, shining light on Sergeant Strunk's personality and approach to teaching. E.B. White, a former student of Strunk, revised the book he was given, years after his professor passed away. White does not soften the direct orders of the original book, but "preserves the flavor of his discontent while enlarging the scope of the discussion" (Strunk & White, 2000 xiv). The Elements of Style provides the readers with a convenient reference for grammar, while emphasizing the importance of omitting needless words, using concrete language and active voice all in a suitable design. "When he delivered his oration on brevity to the class, he leaned forward over his desk, grasped his coast lapels in his hands, and, in a husky, conspiratorial voice, said, "Rule Seventeen. Omit needless words! Omit needless words! Omit needless words!" (Strunk & White, 2000, xv). Strunk provides an image for the most important aspect of his book. The repetition of this rule throughout the entire book, proves not only the importance of it to Professor Strunk, but to writing as a whole. The author's advocate trimming ... • 77. Comparing Gothic Churches Vs. Freque Churches I personally found Gothic style churches to be more architecturally appealing than the Romanesque ones. The reason for this is Gothic churches were filled with light and thin, towering walls. These characteristics were very uncommon for the dark, thick structures of Romanesque architecture. The structure was able to be filled with such light due to three very important architectural elements. These elements include pointed arches, ribbed vaulting, and buttresses. Thanks to these elements stained glass windows were added to Gothic cathedrals. The translucent walls were more than just decoration. The windows allowed for the illiterate public to interact with Christian scripture. Overall in my opinion the elements of Gothic architecture is better than the Romanesque architecture. Gothic architectural structures were thin, light– filled, towering structures. Romanesque architectural structures were dark, thick, and short. The new Gothic style created the light filled and towering looks by replacing elements of Romanesque churches. The style replaced round arches with pointed arches that weren't limited to width and height. It also moved the massive piers of Romanesque churches to the exterior. This created flying buttresses which are stone arms that braced the nave walls. This allowed for the walls to be filled with glass instead of masonry. Masonry was a huge characteristic of Romanesque architecture. These churches were filled with paintings and mosques on the walls. There was no need for light to fill the churches because the public didn't use them only monks. This changed in the Gothic period and the public was finally allowed access to the churches. The architects then decided to open up the structures and allow divine light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
