Quick look of Rotary District 3180
Rotary came to India in 1919. For a long time,
the whole of South India was one RI District,
comprising of States of Kerala, Mysore (now
Karnataka), Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh,
Maharashtra and Union Territory of Goa. In 1970
the RI District got redistricted into various RI
Districts of 313, 314, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, 320
and many more. Later in 1991, District numbers
were changed by adding a zero to all the district
numbers to make them four digit ones.
Now geographically Rotary District 3180
comprises of 8 Revenue Districts of
Southern part of Karnataka namely:
Chamarajanagara, Mysore, Kodagu, Hassan,
Chikmagalur, Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada,

3. Sakhyã – a friendship meet
Sakhya a friendship meet for ISO s of 40 Inner Wheel
clubs was hosted by IW Midtown. An excellent idea,
brain child of Dist. ISO Anuradha Nandakumar brought
out all our hidden strengths in organizing the event.
Meticulous planning, attention paid to detail in
planning by Anoo and thorough execution by our
members was a good combination to take the event
forward. The flavour was ALL MYSORE, Mysore silk
saree , Mysore Mallige to yummy Mysorepak and not to
forget Mysore hurigalu in the goody bag for the guests.
Lively voices of MCs Lavanya and Prabha ably supported
back stage by Sudha and Vimala and Savitha's group ran
the event like clock work. Great Menu planned and supervised by Vyjayanthi was the toast of the event. Sincere
thanks to Rtn.D.Srinivasan for all his designing.
-Anoo & Anu
This is how Dist. ISO narrates the eventOn January 10th, 2014, Inner Wheel Mysore Midtown organized Inter District ISO Meet at Dhwanya Loka,
Mysore. Presidents/acting Presidents and ISOs/acting ISOs from 14 Inner Wheel Clubs (IWCs) of our District 318
gathered there alongwith District Officers, Past District Chairmen and host Club members. IWC Mysore Midtown
had decided to host ISO meet almost 8 months ago, when District ISO was chosen from Mysore Midtown, after the
conference in 2012. The preparations were going on since almost a month after the date was decided. It was a
much anticipated day, as for the first time after 10 years, a District event was being hosted by Mysore Midtown.
Being the 90th International Inner Wheel Day, members were all excited to meet and exchange goodwill &
friendship. Various competitions and a pageant were held. Firstly, District ISO studied 40 IWCs and gave merits for
their participation in various competitions and in events such as Assembly, Rally, Conference held by the District,
since 6 months since their term began. On the day, there were 13 participants who displayed their club flag, club
bulletin, club roster and also a hand-made New Year Card, of which the best in each category was adjudged by 3
Past District Chairmen, playing judges who observed every detail.]
The pageant started with Round 1- 'Me&My Club', when every participant had to introduce oneself and one's
IWC in most creative way. Eleven participants were chosen for Round 2- 'Rapid Fire', when each one was asked to
pick a quiz chit and answer the general knowledge question immediately. Five were selected for next rounds.
Round 3-'Mummy Magic', they were given the task of preparing their daughter to go to school by tying hair,
donning the uniform, packing lunch, packing books into the satchel handing over everything and rushing the
daughter to school. For daughter's role, thanks to Rotary Midtown Academy, students were brought from their
school. Finally Round 4-'Pick-Write-Speak',
the five finalists were made to sit, pick an
Inner Wheel Theme chit and write for 2
minutes about the theme. Three judges for
the pageant were invited from VLCC, who
adjudged winner, 1st runner-up, 2nd runnerup, best designer wear, best designer
footwear, best designer jewellery and best
hair-style. Trophies and Prizes were given
away by District Chairman, PDCs and district
officers.
The hosts were in the traditional attire of
Mysore-Mysore Silk sari & jasmine. The
invitees were welcomed with hot coffee/tea and snacks. After the event, each one was served with Bale-yeleoota, the traditional lunch of Mysore; the taste still lingers on. The audience enjoyed the random play during the
pageant winning lot of surprise gifts. On the whole, the event brought lot of mirth and zeal in the members, bothparticipating invitees and hosting members of IWC Mysore Midtown. An official touch outlined with fun and
creativity was SAKHYA!

stories from supporters across the globe, or
share your own!
Annual Report – See highlights of Rotary's
2012-13 fiscal year, including our progress on
eradicating polio and new grant activity at
www.rotary.org/annualreport. You'll also find
financial reports and graphs that show how our
funding is helping to create positive change
around the world.
A new 3D printer concept uses quick-drying
cement to print a two-story, 2500 square foot
home in less than 24 hours.
The printer, designed by Professor Behrokh
Khoshnevis, is equipped with two crane-shaped
arms supporting the crossbeam that contains the
printhead. The huge device is sent atop a set of
tracks and would be able to work on all areas of the
house at the same time. The process would be
mostly automated, although the foundation,
window head jams and a metal ceiling between
floors would need to be completed by construction
crews.
