epidemic, with the potential to cause a
worldwide healthcare crisis.

Globally that more than 382 million people have diabetes
China with 98.4 million were affected by Diabetes
India with 65.1 million people were affected by diabetes
One estimation suggest that 592 million people will live
with diabetes in 2035
4. Purpose
to find out the impact of selected
asanas practices on fasting blood
sugar and post prandial blood sugar
level among type-2 diabetes
mellitus patients.
5. Subject
Forty male type-2 diabetes mellitus
patients (without any complications)
Age-group of 45-55 years with diabetes of
0-5 years duration were selected from
Tiruchirappalli city, Tamil Nadu state, India.
6. Groups
Divided in to two groups of twenty patients each
1.Asana practices group
2.Control group
Experimental treatment
90 days
6 days per week
one session per day
45 minutes.

12. Discussion of findings
The results of the study indicate that the
experimental group which underwent asanas
practices had showed significant decrease in the
fasting blood sugar and post prandial blood
sugar, when compared to the control group. The
control groups did not show significant
differences level in any of the selected variables.
These findings confirm the earlier findings of
Jain et al., (1993); Singh et al., (2004) and
Sahay, (2007).
13. Conclusions
From the analysis of data, the following
conclusions were drawn.
•The type-2 diabetes mellitus patients of
experimental group showed significant decrease
in fasting blood sugar and post prandial blood
sugar.
•The type-2 diabetes patients of control group
did not show significant level difference in the
fasting blood sugar and post prandial blood
sugar.
