Emotional Intelligence (EI): ‘ is your ability to
recognized and understand emotions and your skills
at using this awareness to manage yourself and
relationship with others.’

The term is officially coined in 1990, by the
two of psychologists Salovey and Mayer.
But it is not get popular, In 1995 Daniel
published his book on Emotional Intelligence.
The book name was “Why it matter more then
IQ”.
4. Is EI is something new?
No, it is always there but didn’t get prominent.
Emotions is a complex state of human mind,
involving body changes of wide space
character such as breathing , pound heart,
sweating and etc.
5. In 1995, numerous writer write books on EI,
They all have same point :
1) Emotional intelligence exists.
2) It is a factor in personal and professional
success.
3) It can be improved.

According to Goleman EI is :
Understanding one’s own feeling , empathy for
the feeling of the other and regulation of
emotions in a way that enhance living.
He said there are 5 domain of EI.

9. Why self management is important?
Self-management is important because when
people are able to better managing their
emotions, they do better in life.
The more people allow emotions to control
and direct their behavior, the worse they do in
life.

Social awareness refers to how people handle
relationships and awareness of others’
feelings, needs, and concerns.
It is the ability to recognize and appropriately
respond to the emotions and feelings of
others.
12. Why social awareness is important?
Social awareness is very important for creating and
maintaining good working relationships with other
people.
People high in social awareness can feel what other
people are feeling.
People who are high in social awareness are able to
read non-verbal cues, read messages conveyed by facial
gestures, posture, eye movement, and body language.
13. IQ
In 1940’s the psychologists were referring to ‘non
intellective’ as well as ‘ intellective ’element of
intelligence, by which they meant personal and social
factors.
But it is noted that non intellective factor work in the
success.

Some of the researches made on this EI and It is
noted that 20% of IQ is important but 80% of EI is
matter in the success.
