The document discusses empowerment, advocacy, and community engagement. It defines empowerment as an individual's capacity to make choices that can produce desired changes in their lives. Empowerment involves having the ability to make one's own decisions and be listened to. Advocacy involves fighting for the rights of others and having their concerns addressed by targeting people in positions of power. There are three types of advocacy: systems advocacy which focuses on policy change, individual advocacy which focuses on changing an individual's situation, and self-advocacy which focuses on strengthening an individual's ability to communicate their needs. Community engagement, solidarity, and citizenship are important for empowerment and advocacy initiatives.
