Reflection Of The Qri-6 Passage
For lesson 3, we started out by doing the QRI–6 Passage. I first asked him the three concept
questions before reading the passage. For the first question, he just said, I don't know. I feel like he
knew what to say; he just didn't want to answer the question or say what he was thinking. The other
two questions he answered and got the highest score for each of those, so he scored a 6 out of 9, or a
66 and 2/3%. He then read the passage, Just Like Mom, to me. There were 45 total words in the
passage, and he was able to read all of them correctly. I timed him as he was reading, and it took
him 36 seconds to read the whole thing. Because he didn't have any miscues, his words per minute
(WPM) was the same as his words correct per minute (WCPM), ... Show more content on

He came up with some good answers to put in the diagram, and he wrote it all himself. He used the
book to help him spell the words out, but he had excellent penmanship and never wrote any of his
letters backwards.
Section 2: Child's Literacy Knowledge Looking at the QRI–6 passage, Brakke is a good reader. He
didn't miss any of the words, and for being a first grader, 75 WPM seems decently fast to me. There
were no hesitations when reading the passage either. When I asked him the concept questions, it was
just the first question that he didn't know or didn't want to answer. The question was, "What is a
Mom?" and he just kept on saying, "I don't know." I think maybe he just didn't want to say the
wrong thing or didn't think he had a good enough answer, so he didn't want to say. The other two
questions, though, he answered just fine, so he understood those. After asking him to retell the story
to me, he provided half of the answers listed down, so I can tell that he comprehends and remembers
what he reads, because most of the ones that he did miss were just repeats of saying, "Just like
Mom," and he only said that once, which is awesome that he remembered to at least say it one time.
He also did a great job answering the other five questions after reading the passage, which were
comprehension questions. He got all but one of the questions right, and because they were all
explicit answers, that shows me that he remembers what he reads. I

What is the purpose of a condition formula?
To assess whether the circumstances are true or false and make reasonable evaluations between
expressions.
24. What is the purpose of a look up formula?
To gain a value from a table (in a range) by searching up another value.
25. What is the difference between a function and a formula?
Functions are formulas that are already set that complete calculations by using given values ( called
arguments) in a specific order. Functions can be used to achieve simple or hard calculations.
26. What is the advantage of sorting data?
Sorting your data in a specific way helps you find the data you want much easier.
27. What is the advantage of filtering data?
The advantage of filtering the data, is that it breaks down your information so you can get to the
main bit of information quicker.

Book Review Of Mind Maps For Kids By Tony Buzan
Review of Mind Maps for Kids: An Introduction by Tony Buzan Since 1974, Tony Buzan, a
psychology author and educational consultant, has been developing and promoting the concept of
using diagram which representing ideas in colorful branches, keywords, and images. Mind Maps for
Kids: An Introduction, first published in 2003, is his first book written especially for younger
readers aged 7 to 14 years old. Despite writing the book as a guide for parents to help their children,
Buzan writes this colorful work book with step–by–step guidelines and examples for children to use
the book by themselves for learning school subjects, remembering things, and unlocking
imaginations. Buzan introduces the concept of Mind Maps in the first chapter of the book. Starting
with the concept of left and right brain in simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buzan also shows that they can create a future planning with Mind Maps in "Your Dream Shop"
section. In the end of the book, Buzan emphasizes to the readers that they can apply the Mind Maps
anytime, anywhere, for everything. He also encourages the readers to share their Mind Maps and the
stories of their success with him: a way to motivate children to explore the ideas in their minds and
be as creative as they can. Mind Maps for Kids: An Introduction is a simply useful book for
students. The easy language Buzan provides in the book makes it easier for young readers to
understand his explanation. The colorful pictures attracts them to take interest in the contents. A 10–
year–old child will likely find this book interesting, not only for the pictures, but also the
"motivational words" Buzan uses to encourage the young readers. For children who have lack of
self–confidence, this book is an enjoyable self–helper as it shows that every person can do
something great if they use this "magic

Chocoholics Anonymous
While assessing the needs of the Chocoholics Anonymous organization our team agreed
unanimously that we wanted to gain the most value out of this project. We first sat down and
decided our approach for how to handle this project in the most professional and business
simulating way possible. During this sit down we agreed to treat this project like a real business
venture. For that we would use a hybrid approach that consisted of some project management
techniques as well as agile software ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These use cases would drive the goals of the project and our general though and planning process to
the user interface.
User Experience
We found that as we defined the use cases we began immediately thinking about how the use cases
would look as a user interface and user experience. The user experience is an important piece to the
overall puzzle of creating software. According to blog writer Dmitry Fadeyev "a good user interface
needs to be clear, concise, familiar, responsive, consistent, attractive, efficient, and forgiving
(Fadeyev, 2009)." When we set out to come up with a mocked user interface we talked about what
items would make these graphics easy to understand. As well what would make them pop on the
page or whatever would display them. For this we came up with a decent mocked set of graphics in
html to emulate what the user would see in the interface for the application. This set of mocked up
graphics would prove to be attractive, consistent, and even familiar. The other items on the list such
as responsiveness, efficiency, and forgiveness would have to be realized after the actual
development itself was accomplished.
The screen shots in Appendix E clearly show the basic principals we attempted to mock/create. We
knew that a basic drop

Hertzsprung Russell Diagram
The Hertzsprung Russell diagram was developed in 1911 by Danish astronomer Ejnar Hertzsprung
as a ways of representing the properties of stars. The method was improved in 1913 by American
astronomer Henry Norris–Russell. Today the diagram is known as a Hertzsprung–Russell diagram,
or simply an H–R diagram. This diagram is very significant tool for studying the evolution of stars.
A H–R diagram plots a star's luminosity against its temperature or color. The vertical axis is the stars
luminosity relative to the sun (1 L0 is the luminosity of our sun) and the horizontal axis plots the
temperature or color of a star. The highest value of temperature is shown on the left while the lowest
is on the right. Each star is plotted as a single point,

Venn Diagrams Influence On Mayan Creation
There are many different kinds of religions and interpretations of events, that took place. Whether
someone reads about the Native American creation stories or the rigid beliefs of the Puritans that
Landed in the Massachusetts Bay Colony they are all religions that shaped America to what it is,
today. In America today, there are many different religions along with branches of religions that
influence decisions that are made. The creator, or creators, in the religions, that influenced Early
America all have very different views, towards the Earth and mankind. The Mayan creators only
wanted humans for them to be able to praise them, the Inuit god was not expecting humans to roam
hear but after they were hatched he cared for them. The Mayan creators: Tepeu the Maker and
Gucumatz the Feathered Spirit first created the Earth, together by coming together. After this
whatever they imagined was created. They needed something to look after their creation, this is why
they created animals. The two Gods want praise so they said ""Now, praise us! Say our names!"
commanded the creators." (Mayan Creation Big Myth Website) This created chaos since ... Show

The Inuits had direct contact, with their creator, during their creation, and it was a positive
interaction so the view of The Raven is positive. The Mayans had their interactions with their
creators, in a different way. The two creators were not only wanting someone to take care of the
Earth, their creation, but someone who can verbally praise them. The Puritans connected to their
creator through their scripture, poems, and sermons. All of the religions, that were discussed, had
loyal followers that loved the creators and felt cared for, by their creator. "That I am Cloathd in Holy
robes for glory." (Huswifery, Edward Taylor) Taylor wrote this poem like he cared for creator very

Persuasive Essay On Technology
Have you ever gone on your computer, tablet, phone, smart TV, or smart watch with the intention of
doing one thing but in fact get stuck for minutes or hours on a completely different task or website?
It happens to the best of us. Nicholas Carr, Kevin Kelley, and myself all acknowledge and agree that
technology causes us to get lost. The big question is if getting lost in the technology is good or bad
and how are we getting lost? A mix of Carr's reprograming theory, Kelley's mystical experience, and
my personal experience with technology will result in the theory that we already live in robotic
world because of technology. This overlapping theme of automation and power in Carr, Kelley, and
my experiences will be expressed through a Venn diagram throughout this essay. The first circle of
the Venn diagram is Nicholas Carr's reprograming theory. In this circle we take a deeper look into
Nicholas Carr's theme of reprogramming in his article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" Carr makes
the compelling argument that Google is literally remapping and reprograming the brains of this
generation. This reprograming is taking place in in a tangible, research proven, biological way.
Neuroscience has proven that our brain has plasticity.
Carr relates this research by sharing, "The Internet, an immeasurably powerful computing system, is
subsuming most of our other intellectual technologies. It's becoming our map" (Carr 4). Our brains
plasticity is a wonderful and beautiful

The Green Computing research project is well underway and we have to select a research tool that
will help with quality control. The choices are Cause and effect diagrams, control charts, Run charts,
scatter diagrams, histograms, Pareto charts and flow charts. I am a huge fan of statistical analysis
however; it is not one of the seven tools we have to work with. Therefore, I have chosen the Pareto
Chart method to help with our quality control. A Pareto Chart will allow us to look at energy
consumption over a period of time and break it down to what was the major factor leading ... Show

Once the processes are categorized, then they can be prioritized. This is where the whole leadership
team gets involved, to include the stakeholders. Then these prioritized categories can be made into a
hierarchical structure with substance and value. This Pareto analysis chart is rather easy to produce
in Microsoft Excel, which is a good thing because I am fairly competent with the process using MS
Excel. We simply put in a table the consumption values during the determined period of study and
then turn it into a chart and you have a visual of the consumption periods. We can then find the
highest consumption periods and compare them to any changes or patterns differences from the
lower periods. Then these values can be re–charted in another analysis chart to visually compare the
major causes of energy consumption. In conclusion, the Pareto analysis will allow us to identify the
major energy consumption issues or the major energy conservation savings factors and allow us to
prioritize them in a hierarchical manner. Then the decision making process can begin to work to
reduce the overall costs and save energy at the same time.

4.3 ACTIVITY DIAGRAM
It demonstrates the workflow behaviour of a system which describes the state of activities by
showing the sequence of activities performed in different order. The diagram has branches and forks
to describe conditions and parallel activities.
Activity diagrams are graphical representations of workflows of stepwise activities and actions with
support for choice, iteration and concurrency. In the Unified Modeling Language, activity diagrams
are intended to model both computational and organizational processes (i.e. workflows). Activity
diagrams show the overall flow of control.

A hacker attacks an easy target first, and then uses it to hide his identity and traces of launching
attacks at more secured sites. The aim of an attack is to gain complete control of the system (in
order to edit, delete, install or execute any file in any user's directory), often by gaining access to a "
super–user" account. This will allow both maximum access and the ability to hide your presence.
Often attacks are based on software bugs that a hacker can use to give himself or herself super–user
status. Also one can get a copy of the password file (which stores user names and encrypted
passwords and is often publically accessible) and either do a brute–force attack trying all possible
combinations, or encrypt a dictionary and compare the results to see if anyone choose a password
that is a dictionary word.
Another method of hacking is to email someone a program that either automatically runs or that
runs when they click on an attachment. This helps to install a program that will give control of their

KEY VOCABULARY/CONCEPTS:
Compare– looking at the similarity between something.
1. Contrast– looking at the differences between something.
Text structures–refers to how the information within a written text is organized. This strategy helps
students understand that a text might present a main idea and details; a cause and then its effects;
and/or different views of a topic. These definitions are important because they are the Key Terms
throughout this unit. The student will need to know what compare, contrast, and text structures are.
As students learn to read, they should learn to recognize different text structures so they can predict
what type of information is included. This will raise text structure understanding and will to lead to
a permanent improvement in reading skill.

In this example the table shows where an employer was asked to hire more employees in order to
cover 100 departments with 30 different areas. Each new employee would work in areas 1, 2, and 3.
The area assigned to the employee would be determined by the employer him/herself. The table
above givens an example of how it will go. Then the overall question would be how the assigned
areas would be split up.
When it comes to converting the table above into a graph to the answer, I am at a little bit of a loss.
The employee numbers 1, 2, and 3 would then be converted into vertices D1, D2, and D3 and the
different areas into A1, A2, and A3 which is shown in the diagram below: In the diagram you have
to replace the S's with D's and the C's with the A's.
I believe the assigned areas would be given to the employees by the employer. An employer would
be assign to an employee by random. The employee would follow the employer's number through
the graph. This would start in area 1 and continue on through 3. If you have 100 employers and 30
employees they would be assigned in areas as 34, 33, and 33 this would allow all areas to be
covered and the jobs completed in

Application for a Position as Resident Assistant
1. What experiences have you had which prepare you for this position (e.g perhaps as an employee,
leader, or working with people different from yourself, etc)? Working with different people is one of
things I am excited about being a RA. As I met different people with different cultures, beliefs and
worked together in the past, I am certain I know how to interact with them. These experiences
taught me how to interact people different from me flexibly, how to withstand pressure and how to
use differences as strength. Moreover I have taken several leadership positions before so benefits
from those positions would be useful in becoming a RA. A resident assistant should always be

I search for the interceptions that we share together so that we could move forwards together. If we
keep pointing out the differences, it would be similar to two people rowing a boat in two different
directions. If we can find the direction where we both want to go, we can start rowing our boat
forwards. When I became a RA, I believe that I could encourage other people to see their
similarities instead of pointing out the differences and we could create a diverse community with
same goal together to keep moving forwards.
3.What qualities or skills do you hope to develop or improve as a RA? How do you think being an
RA will contribute to your personal growth? I believe that being a RA would greatly improve my
leadership skills. What a resident assistant has to do to his residents is very similar to what a leader
would do to his subordinates. A resident assistant would care about his residents' well being as a
leader would do. He would counsel them on personal and academic concerns and keep students safe
and healthy. Therefore, as a RA, I believe the greatest benefit would be the tendency to become a
great leader. Moreover I also hope to develop my problems solving and critical thinking skills
because a RA would face many problems during the semester. Everyone's problem can become a
RA's problem so I think it would be a great opportunity to learn how to tackle the problems. As a

The Critical Thinking Assignment For Module One
CT #1 Option #2: Sets #2
The Critical Thinking assignment for Module One, Option Two, is a series of five questions
pertaining to Set Theory and Venn diagrams. In short, Set Theory is the notion in which items (e.g.,
numbers, colors, people), referred to in mathematics as "elements" can be grouped into "sets" in
order to organize and understand elements (Jech, 1971). In relation, Venn diagrams are circular
illustrations utilized to visually express relationships between sets (Grünbaum, 1975). It is
imperative to understand the relation between sets and Venn diagrams in order to fully comprehend
Set Theory.
Problem Number One Accompanied by a detailed Venn diagram, question number one prompts
"Which region represents (B ∩ C)∩A'?". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c}, B= {c, d, e, f} Find A'–B'. There are three necessary steps
to solve. First, one must find the complement of A, A' = {d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for the
complement of B, B' = {a, b, g}. Now, the problem solver has the critical information to solve for
the difference (A' = {d, e, f, g}) – (B' = {a, b, g}). Finally, one can deduce A'–B' = {d, e, f}.
Problem Number Four Similarly to problem number one, problem number four returns to the use of
a Venn diagram to solve the problem. However, this time there is an additional complement within
the brackets. Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c, f}, B= {c, d}, C= {a, d, e, f, g}, find
('B∩C)∩A'. Step one, fill out a three circle Venn diagram including all sets, U, A, B, C. Next, find
the complement of B, B'= {a, b, e, f, g}. Then, find the intersection of B' and C, ('B∩C) = {a, d, e, f,
g}. Next, one must solve for A', A' = {e,g} Lastly, solve for pug in set values and solve, {a, d, e, f,
g} ∩ {e, g} = {e. g}. Therefore, one can now resolve, ('B∩C)∩A' = {e, g}.
Problem Number Five Lastly, problem number five again addresses complements. The equation is
as follows, U= {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,...}, A= {6, 8, 10} Find A'. Remembering the
complement is the set of elements of U that are not elements of A, one must solve for A'. Therefore,

Implementation Of A New EHR System For A Large...

MERRELL SELLERS
KAPLAN UNIVERSITY HS450–01 UNIT 7 The CEO of our company has asked me to manage the
implementation of a new EHR system for our large multi–campus hospital system, within this paper
I will show the how my management tools can make this implementation possible. The first thing I
would have put into place is have an office located near the medical records paper records room for
easy access when transferring files from paper to digital. The color of the office should be calming

Ergonomic aids should be used to help maintain comfortable posture. Examples include footrests,
wrist rests for keyboard and mouse, antiglare screens for computer monitors, copy stands, and
adjustable chair height for those working at a multitask station,
(Oachs, 2010) The plan to measure performance during the transition to the new EHR audits will be
done to account for work flow. All work should be delegated down to the appropriate area that will
be handling certain issues within the systems network. (Eckerspm, 2011) The different types of
managerial skill such as conceptual, interpersonal, and technical
Skills should be followed for smooth running functional management, (Oachs, 2010).
Outsourcing benchmarking has its benefits and its benefits. The systems can be maintained by IT
experts keeping out staff from having to take time and money to fix problems with the system. On
the other hand external benchmarking can cause problems within the organization. When
outsourcing clauses are made within the IT contract; Clients can use third parties to give

My Lesson Sequence Using Venn Diagrams And Composition
I assess prior knowledge throughout my lesson sequence using a variety of ways. Before beginning
the learning segment, I will look at students prior work on comparing and contrasting to see where
each student is at in regards to their level of understanding. I found that while some students had a
good understanding of the strategy, there were still many students that could use a thorough
introduction to the concept. This allowed for me to begin planning ways to differentiate my
instruction to include the higher students and the lower students. I crafted the Central Focus students
practice compare and contrast by using Venn Diagrams and composing a paragraph that includes an
introductory sentence, two–three details about how the two things are alike and different, and a
concluding sentence, to encompass requisite skills for my learning segment. The learning targets for
lesson 1,2, and 3, also address questions related to knowledge and skills aligned with the Central
Focus that support student learning. To reach the learning objective for lesson one, students practice
with me and with a pre assigned partner before doing anything by themselves. To provide additional
support to students with literacy needs and IEP/504 plans, I monitor their progress, offer guidance
with questions and different examples if needed, and give verbal cues during each lesson.
When developing the central focus for my learning segment, I ensured to use lesson activities that

Personal Narrative : I Daydreamed
I can describe my identity as a Venn diagram, with one circle representing who I think I am and the
other representing who I actually am. Where the two circles overlap is my definite identity of today.
In that space, I know I am imaginative, I like writing, I'm artistic, I'm confident in my skills, and I
want to become a better person. Specific objects, people, and events, such as the Percy Jackson
series, my fifth–grade teacher, my first sketchbook, Elementary All–County, and a three–day art

So, I started writing my own stories. I took the millions of ideas inside my head and wrote them all

better at writing and I started developing and changing my stories more and more. I wrote because I
liked my stories, and because I liked writing. When I wrote, I could spread ideas in a way that was
so much easier that telling someone. I didn't write for a grade or because of an assignment, but
instead for myself. I doubt I ever would've done that if my fifth–grade teacher wasn't Mr. L. My first

the "professionals' zone". I couldn't waste any of this fancy drawing paper. Each page would be
filled with my masterpiece of the day, displaying an off–proportion, badly–shaded, front view of an
emotionless face. Looking back on these "masterpieces," they were really bad. But that's why I kept
drawing! Because they sucked! That's why when I ran out of pages to artistically vomit on, I bought

class! Yesterday we finished reading the section on chemical bonding. It is important that you all
understand the differences between the two major types of bonding, which are covalent and ionic
bonding. Both forms have specific characteristics that are important to memorize for future topics
we shall discuss in this class and in your college courses. In my opinion, the best way to learn and
memorize different characteristics between two different things is by completing a Venn Diagram.
Explain the Strategy: Most of you have completed many of these throughout your schooling
experience, but I shall provide you a nice refreshing reminder of how a Venn Diagram works. Start
by drawing two large circles, and the circles must overlap at the middle. This middle zone will
represent the characteristics that relate to both items being examined. Then the remaining zones will
contain characteristics that are associated with the term listed above. This creates a clean diagram
that makes studying easier because the characteristics are clearly separated, easy to read, and
associate with the term that is listed above. Model the Strategy: Now let me provide you all an
example of a Venn Diagram. I want to create a diagram between NASCAR and stock car racing. I
tend to start at the similarities when completing a Venn Diagram. Both are a form of racing, so I

Pre Assessment Of Student Interest
Pre–Assessment of Student Interest: To assess student interest in planning a school dance, I would
use a bubble map. I would ask the students "Have they ever attended a school dance? " Then I
would ask "If you have attend a school dance write down what you liked about the dance. If you
haven't attend a school dance write down what you think you might like to have at a school dance."
Example of bubble map: Students may add more off shoots bubbles if they need to. My PBLBubble

As students complete their bubble maps, I would ask them to come up to one of the six poster
papers hanging on the wall, and write one or two of their "likes" that they had written down. Once
all students had a chance to write down a "like" on one of the poster papers, the class as a whole
would compare the six list and discuss what they had in common and uncommon with their
classmates as far as what they would like to have at a school dance.
Project Hook: The day that I am pre–assessing student interest, with the bubble map and the poster
papers, the classroom will be decorated with balloons, decorations, and streamers. I will call the
principal to my class and she will unveil the project by explain what services she is requesting for
the school dance by the party planning company. The company winning the bid will provide a
demonstration dance for the class.

One of the qualities that a good teacher should possess is to help and ensure that our students

help students focus on what they are learning and also aid in learning the information.

Digital Essay
Digital
The digital world of today can be understood as a product of late–Victorian construction of the
machinery of information organization combined with Modernist visual forms.
The works of Lev Manovich and Dr. Simon Cook use a revisionist approach to examine the past
century and a half of visual forms. In his "Late Victorian Reasoning and a Modern History of
Vision," Dr. Cook attempts to prove a link between the late–Victorian visual forms and the "new
vision" (including Modernist art) that Manovich observed in the early half of the twentieth century.
In his work, Lev Manovich traces the relationship from "new vision" to the computer and new

However, the science of psychology had a very slow start and growth. In the nineteenth century,
psychology went through a fledging stage in which it attempted to ground itself in different
sciences, such as biology, physics, and philosophy (2). It was this initial experimentation with
psychology that led to the works produced in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century
observed by Cook and Manovich. However, it was the growth of psychology departments in
universities and colleges that led to the visual forms used in the new media. Upon further
examination of psychology and the three visual forms, the importance of psychology in these fields
will become evident.
The late–Victorian construction of the machinery of information organization included the works of
men like Lewis Carroll and John Venn, who attempted to create visual representations of arguments,
usually on the topic of logic. The link between these two men and psychology can be easily
observed upon examination of Mind, a quarterly publication that was established in 1876. In the

Based on my observation, and the previous assessments that I have done with Lisa, I am curious to
know her level of knowledge in vocabulary. Therefore, I had used five words from Google It

knowledge to determine the definition of new words (Gunning p.339). Since Lisa enjoyed the
experience of ordering stuff online and shared that with me when I was assessing her on
comprehension /cultural relevant – Sitti's secrets story, she told me that she ordered a bracelet for

Besides, I want to assess her knowledge in words and the words' antonyms. As well as I was

Benji And Red
The theme of the story is a bond of friendship formed between two boys from different backgrounds

Examples Of Classroom Observation
Classroom Observation:
–Connect Administrator–conducted observation to my reflections of practice
–Focus on progress made in key areas of strength and needed focus
I started this year with a new assignment as a Basic Skills teacher for ELA in grades 1–5. Changing
students every 40 minutes and only seeing students twice a week was quite a challenge for me. As a
proponent of differentiated instruction and the Daily 5, I was used to rotating through my students
as needed for a variety of skills because they were available to me all day long. My lessons had to
be shorter and couldn't carry over more than one additional session because students would forget.
Having experience with grades 4 & 5, I found this transition much easier perhaps because I was
already familiar with the curriculum and pacing for that age group. Grade 3 required only minor
adjustments in my lessons, where I would have to slow down the pace and choose major targets.
However, first and second grade presented more of a struggle for me in timing and content. As a
result I decided to focus on grades 1 and 2 for my SGOs.
My grade 1 SGO focused on A–Z Reading levels, whereas, the SGO for grade 2 focused on a
reading passage that was revised into a PARCC–like assessment. The initial pre–test was scary!
Only teaching these students twice a week, I thought I was in over my head. I knew that I could
have a greater impact on their success if I had more time with them; but reality dictated otherwise.
The issue of time has been a frustration of mine all year!
Each week I would prepare lessons that included phonics/ spelling, and a reading skill connected to
writing. This was difficult because the students are from different classes and the teachers may be
teaching different skills. As a result, I began looking more deeply at their standards using the NJ
Model Curriculum and decided to focus on the major reading and writing skills which were those
that spiraled up such as theme, compare and contrast, and character traits and motivations. All of
these skills could easily be connected to PARCC–like writing. So now I had a plan. It was time to
implement.
I started with short stories to teach Close Reading and annotations. This was working out well.

My Goal In My Life
I would have to say that my life task will be to be a problem solver. In the video "Tom
Kelley(Founder–Ideo) – Do What You Love" the Venn diagram utilized by Jim Collins shows that
with a good balance you can find your life task. Fourteen years ago, I used to work for Hewlett
Packard and like the Venn diagram I was good at it, I was born to do and I got paid to do what I
loved, code and solve problems. The environment was good to work, every Friday after work we
used to gather outside the building to play dominoes. I would say if you asked myself where I saw
me in five or ten years I would have answered that I would be working at Hewlett Packard. But that
was not how it happened my division was the first one to go after the Compaq merger. This is
probably my starting point for my mastery journey.
I moved the family to Orlando, FL and started my own business. I used to put a lot of ours in to it
and it was consuming a lot of time and it was not healthy for the kids or my marriage. It is not until
that life took a good turn and I got the opportunity to work for Florida Virtual School. It is quite a
turnaround since my Mother and Sisters are all educators and I didn't want to follow their footsteps
that is why I studied Computer Science. Since I like to solve problems and find better ways to do the

When I arrived to Mrs. Beach's classroom, she began debriefing what had occurred in the classroom
since the last time I was there. Two of the boys in her class had almost gotten into a fight, so the
seating chart had to be changed so that these students were as far away from each other as possible.
She also informed me that when they had a sub the previous day that they were behaving so poorly
that the principal had to come in and have a talk with the students. Because of this, Mrs. Beach
warned me that she would be much sterner today, because she was going to have to be out two more

students arrived to class, from P.E. they grabbed their math buckets and found their seats. They did
this so quietly and were waiting patiently for Mrs. Beach to explain what they were doing for the

John Venn Essay
Life of John Venn John Venn was born on August 4, 1834, in Hull, England. His parents were
Martha Sykes and Reverend Henry Venn. Unfortunately, Venn's mother died when he was only three
years old. Venn was brought up in a very strict home. His father had played a significant part in the
Evangelical movement and he was also the secretary of the 'Society for Missions to Africa and the
East. Venn started his education at Highgate with his brother Henry in September 1846. He later
moved to Islington proprietary school. He later earned his degree in mathematics in 1857 from
Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. Having earned a fellowship there as well, Venn would
establish a long–term career at his alma mater, becoming a lecturer in 1862 and being appointed
college president. He maintained that position for life. In 1859, following after his father's religious
tradition, Venn was ordained as a priest for the Church of England and did religious work for a short
time before returning to Caius College . In 1868, he married Susanna Carnegie Edmonstone with
whom he had one son, John Archibald Venn. He eventually resigned from the clergy in 1883,
because Anglicanism was incompatible with his philosophical beliefs. But he still remained
involved in the church. His most famous accomplishment was in 1866, writing The Logic of

Work Study In Construction Essay
1.1 General
Construction labour productivity has become big problem in construction industry. In many
countries, labour cost comprises 30 to 50% of the overall project's cost (Yates and Guhathakurta,
1993), and thus is regarded as a true reflection of the economic success. Because construction is
labour–intensive industry, significance of this effect not only justifies the concern over its labour
productivity, but it can also be argued that labour power is the only productive resource.
There are many challenges that are faced by construction industry in India, but one of the important
challenges is labour productivity in construction. Every project has some difficulty in construction

The School's Process For Financial Expenditures Not Being...
Introduction Edwin M Wells Middle School, in Houston, Texas, is part of the Spring ISD. The
school, in 2015, reports enrolling 1,165 students in grades six through eight, and it has 69 teachers
on staff. The problem is the school 's process for financial expenditures not being well aligned with
students ' needs. By streamlining the process for financial expenditures, it will ensure the
expenditures fulfill students ' needs efficiently and appropriately. The impact the problem is having
is that when the lessons are not fully supplemented with the required supplies there is a lack of
engagement in the classroom. Therefore, the system must be streamlined in order to fulfill student
needs. Methodology and Results Improvement Cycle #1: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the observations of the classrooms, we had a chance to observe a lesson that had the correct
supplies. In this classroom setting, a large number of the students appeared to be engaged and were
able to answer questions easily. The students interacted better in the class when the supplies were
present because they were able to have visual and hands on references to engage the students. We
also observed a classroom that did not have the supplies needed and found that a large percentage of
the students were not engaged, and a few had their heads down on their desks. In this class, when
the teacher asked questions only three students participated and the rest did not. During both
classroom visits we made sure to pick similar teachers that were teaching the same subject with
similar lesson plans. We began to see the effect of not having supplies versus having a well–
supplied classroom. We then realized that the school 's process for financial expenditures is not well
aligned with students ' needs and was affecting the end product, which provides the engagement and
educational needs of the students. If we could repeat this process, we would have tested more
classrooms to see if these observations continued. We would test to see if supplies received on time
helped keep students engaged, and increased successful learning by aiding in student

English-Language Learners: Article Analysis
Introduction
The upsurge of a diverse population in the United States has been growing in numbers for years and
will continue to rise in the years to come. With the increase, a call for adapting instruction to meet
the needs of new learners has been a point of interest in courts and the classroom. The reason for
focusing on new learners results from their different backgrounds and languages. Learners can come
with ample, some, or no prior education from their native countries, which makes learning in the
U.S. a major challenge. Curriculum calls for increased cognitive demands and varying vocabularies
as content is introduced, and this is especially true with social studies instruction. The task of
helping English–language learners be successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Graphic organizers are also great tools for building vocabulary to help students focus on unfamiliar
words through a road map, or outline of the reading. Also, students can use organizing tools like
Venn diagrams to compare and contrast information and other tools to practice literacy skills helpful
for comprehension. With the use of concrete items or visuals, students can better connect prior
information to new concepts. For example, when teaching a unit on a topic about travel, the teacher
can present a story to the class and then provide them with real objects related to travel as a way to
support, provide meaning, establish interest, and link background to influence learning. In regards to
vocabulary, concrete items and visuals are also helpful in the pilgrimage to support ELL's in social
studies. Due to the multiple meanings words can carry with them, concentrated vocabulary
instruction focused on visuals and continued practice is important for students to build word
knowledge. For example, when presenting a lesson filled with new vocabulary, ELL's can benefit
from the use of pictures, drawings, or objects to explain word meanings in a more appropriate
tangible manner. After words are learn, teachers can increase content retention by providing the
class with many ongoing opportunities to practice their vocabulary. Lastly, social interactions are

Reflection Of The Qri-6 Passage

  • 1. Reflection Of The Qri-6 Passage For lesson 3, we started out by doing the QRI–6 Passage. I first asked him the three concept questions before reading the passage. For the first question, he just said, I don't know. I feel like he knew what to say; he just didn't want to answer the question or say what he was thinking. The other two questions he answered and got the highest score for each of those, so he scored a 6 out of 9, or a 66 and 2/3%. He then read the passage, Just Like Mom, to me. There were 45 total words in the passage, and he was able to read all of them correctly. I timed him as he was reading, and it took him 36 seconds to read the whole thing. Because he didn't have any miscues, his words per minute (WPM) was the same as his words correct per minute (WCPM), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He came up with some good answers to put in the diagram, and he wrote it all himself. He used the book to help him spell the words out, but he had excellent penmanship and never wrote any of his letters backwards. Section 2: Child's Literacy Knowledge Looking at the QRI–6 passage, Brakke is a good reader. He didn't miss any of the words, and for being a first grader, 75 WPM seems decently fast to me. There were no hesitations when reading the passage either. When I asked him the concept questions, it was just the first question that he didn't know or didn't want to answer. The question was, "What is a Mom?" and he just kept on saying, "I don't know." I think maybe he just didn't want to say the wrong thing or didn't think he had a good enough answer, so he didn't want to say. The other two questions, though, he answered just fine, so he understood those. After asking him to retell the story to me, he provided half of the answers listed down, so I can tell that he comprehends and remembers what he reads, because most of the ones that he did miss were just repeats of saying, "Just like Mom," and he only said that once, which is awesome that he remembered to at least say it one time. He also did a great job answering the other five questions after reading the passage, which were comprehension questions. He got all but one of the questions right, and because they were all explicit answers, that shows me that he remembers what he reads. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We first sat down and decided our approach for how to handle this project in the most professional and business simulating way possible. These use cases would drive the goals of the project and our general though and planning process to the user interface. User Experience We found that as we defined the use cases we began immediately thinking about how the use cases would look as a user interface and user experience. The user experience is an important piece to the overall puzzle of creating software. According to blog writer Dmitry Fadeyev "a good user interface needs to be clear, concise, familiar, responsive, consistent, attractive, efficient, and forgiving (Fadeyev, 2009)." When we set out to come up with a mocked user interface we talked about what items would make these graphics easy to understand. As well what would make them pop on the page or whatever would display them. For this we came up with a decent mocked set of graphics in html to emulate what the user would see in the interface for the application. This set of mocked up graphics would prove to be attractive, consistent, and even familiar. The other items on the list such as responsiveness, efficiency, and forgiveness would have to be realized after the actual development itself was accomplished. The screen shots in Appendix E clearly show the basic principals we attempted to mock/create. We knew that a basic drop

The method was improved in 1913 by American astronomer Henry Norris–Russell. Today the diagram is known as a Hertzsprung–Russell diagram, or simply an H–R diagram. This diagram is very significant tool for studying the evolution of stars. A H–R diagram plots a star's luminosity against its temperature or color. The vertical axis is the stars luminosity relative to the sun (1 L0 is the luminosity of our sun) and the horizontal axis plots the temperature or color of a star. Persuasive Essay On Technology Have you ever gone on your computer, tablet, phone, smart TV, or smart watch with the intention of doing one thing but in fact get stuck for minutes or hours on a completely different task or website? It happens to the best of us. Nicholas Carr, Kevin Kelley, and myself all acknowledge and agree that technology causes us to get lost. The big question is if getting lost in the technology is good or bad and how are we getting lost? A mix of Carr's reprograming theory, Kelley's mystical experience, and my personal experience with technology will result in the theory that we already live in robotic world because of technology. This overlapping theme of automation and power in Carr, Kelley, and my experiences will be expressed through a Venn diagram throughout this essay. The first circle of the Venn diagram is Nicholas Carr's reprograming theory. In this circle we take a deeper look into Nicholas Carr's theme of reprogramming in his article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" Carr makes the compelling argument that Google is literally remapping and reprograming the brains of this generation. This reprograming is taking place in in a tangible, research proven, biological way. Neuroscience has proven that our brain has plasticity. Carr relates this research by sharing, "The Internet, an immeasurably powerful computing system, is subsuming most of our other intellectual technologies. It's becoming our map" (Carr 4). The choices are Cause and effect diagrams, control charts, Run charts, scatter diagrams, histograms, Pareto charts and flow charts. I am a huge fan of statistical analysis however; it is not one of the seven tools we have to work with. Therefore, I have chosen the Pareto Chart method to help with our quality control. A Pareto Chart will allow us to look at energy consumption over a period of time and break it down to what was the major factor leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the processes are categorized, then they can be prioritized. This is where the whole leadership team gets involved, to include the stakeholders. Then these prioritized categories can be made into a hierarchical structure with substance and value. This Pareto analysis chart is rather easy to produce in Microsoft Excel, which is a good thing because I am fairly competent with the process using MS Excel. We simply put in a table the consumption values during the determined period of study and then turn it into a chart and you have a visual of the consumption periods. We can then find the highest consumption periods and compare them to any changes or patterns differences from the lower periods. Then these values can be re–charted in another analysis chart to visually compare the major causes of energy consumption. In conclusion, the Pareto analysis will allow us to identify the major energy consumption issues or the major energy conservation savings factors and allow us to prioritize them in a hierarchical manner. Then the decision making process can begin to work to reduce the overall costs and save energy at the same time. • 21. The Critical Thinking Assignment For Module One CT #1 Option #2: Sets #2 The Critical Thinking assignment for Module One, Option Two, is a series of five questions pertaining to Set Theory and Venn diagrams. In short, Set Theory is the notion in which items (e.g., numbers, colors, people), referred to in mathematics as "elements" can be grouped into "sets" in order to organize and understand elements (Jech, 1971). In relation, Venn diagrams are circular illustrations utilized to visually express relationships between sets (Grünbaum, 1975). It is imperative to understand the relation between sets and Venn diagrams in order to fully comprehend Set Theory. Problem Number One Accompanied by a detailed Venn diagram, question number one prompts "Which region represents (B ∩ C)∩A'?". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c}, B= {c, d, e, f} Find A'–B'. There are three necessary steps to solve. First, one must find the complement of A, A' = {d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for the complement of B, B' = {a, b, g}. Now, the problem solver has the critical information to solve for the difference (A' = {d, e, f, g}) – (B' = {a, b, g}). Finally, one can deduce A'–B' = {d, e, f}. Problem Number Four Similarly to problem number one, problem number four returns to the use of a Venn diagram to solve the problem. However, this time there is an additional complement within the brackets. Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c, f}, B= {c, d}, C= {a, d, e, f, g}, find ('B∩C)∩A'. Step one, fill out a three circle Venn diagram including all sets, U, A, B, C. Next, find the complement of B, B'= {a, b, e, f, g}. Then, find the intersection of B' and C, ('B∩C) = {a, d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for A', A' = {e,g} Lastly, solve for pug in set values and solve, {a, d, e, f, g} ∩ {e, g} = {e. g}. Therefore, one can now resolve, ('B∩C)∩A' = {e, g}. Problem Number Five Lastly, problem number five again addresses complements. The equation is as follows, U= {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,...}, A= {6, 8, 10} Find A'. Start by drawing two large circles, and the circles must overlap at the middle. This middle zone will represent the characteristics that relate to both items being examined. Then the remaining zones will contain characteristics that are associated with the term listed above. This creates a clean diagram that makes studying easier because the characteristics are clearly separated, easy to read, and associate with the term that is listed above. Model the Strategy: Now let me provide you all an example of a Venn Diagram. I want to create a diagram between NASCAR and stock car racing. I tend to start at the similarities when completing a Venn Diagram. Both are a form of racing, so I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The works of Lev Manovich and Dr. Simon Cook use a revisionist approach to examine the past century and a half of visual forms. In his "Late Victorian Reasoning and a Modern History of Vision," Dr. Cook attempts to prove a link between the late–Victorian visual forms and the "new vision" (including Modernist art) that Manovich observed in the early half of the twentieth century. In the nineteenth century, psychology went through a fledging stage in which it attempted to ground itself in different sciences, such as biology, physics, and philosophy (2). It was this initial experimentation with psychology that led to the works produced in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century observed by Cook and Manovich. However, it was the growth of psychology departments in universities and colleges that led to the visual forms used in the new media. Upon further examination of psychology and the three visual forms, the importance of psychology in these fields will become evident. The late–Victorian construction of the machinery of information organization included the works of men like Lewis Carroll and John Venn, who attempted to create visual representations of arguments, usually on the topic of logic. The link between these two men and psychology can be easily observed upon examination of Mind, a quarterly publication that was established in 1876. • 38. Examples Of Classroom Observation Classroom Observation: –Connect Administrator–conducted observation to my reflections of practice –Focus on progress made in key areas of strength and needed focus I started this year with a new assignment as a Basic Skills teacher for ELA in grades 1–5. Changing students every 40 minutes and only seeing students twice a week was quite a challenge for me. As a proponent of differentiated instruction and the Daily 5, I was used to rotating through my students as needed for a variety of skills because they were available to me all day long. My lessons had to be shorter and couldn't carry over more than one additional session because students would forget. Having experience with grades 4 & 5, I found this transition much easier perhaps because I was already familiar with the curriculum and pacing for that age group. Grade 3 required only minor adjustments in my lessons, where I would have to slow down the pace and choose major targets. However, first and second grade presented more of a struggle for me in timing and content. As a result I decided to focus on grades 1 and 2 for my SGOs. My grade 1 SGO focused on A–Z Reading levels, whereas, the SGO for grade 2 focused on a reading passage that was revised into a PARCC–like assessment. The initial pre–test was scary! Only teaching these students twice a week, I thought I was in over my head. I knew that I could have a greater impact on their success if I had more time with them; but reality dictated otherwise. The issue of time has been a frustration of mine all year! Each week I would prepare lessons that included phonics/ spelling, and a reading skill connected to writing. This was difficult because the students are from different classes and the teachers may be teaching different skills. As a result, I began looking more deeply at their standards using the NJ Model Curriculum and decided to focus on the major reading and writing skills which were those that spiraled up such as theme, compare and contrast, and character traits and motivations. All of these skills could easily be connected to PARCC–like writing. So now I had a plan. It was time to implement. I started with short stories to teach Close Reading and annotations. This was working out well. Students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two of the boys in her class had almost gotten into a fight, so the seating chart had to be changed so that these students were as far away from each other as possible. She also informed me that when they had a sub the previous day that they were behaving so poorly that the principal had to come in and have a talk with the students. Because of this, Mrs. Beach warned me that she would be much sterner today, because she was going to have to be out two more days this week, and she needed to reinforce what appropriate behavior looks like in her class. As the students arrived to class, from P.E. they grabbed their math buckets and found their seats. They did this so quietly and were waiting patiently for Mrs. Beach to explain what they were doing for the day. Since Mrs. Beach needed to catch the students up on lesson 16, she decided to teach a whole group lesson; therefore, she taught and the students listened. During the lesson, I graded papers and took notes of the ways that Mrs. Beach was explaining the lesson to her students. One thing that I found interesting about the ways that Mrs. Beach was teaching this lesson was that the students were only going to be exposed to this lesson once, not their usual three times. In 1868, he married Susanna Carnegie Edmonstone with whom he had one son, John Archibald Venn. He eventually resigned from the clergy in 1883, because Anglicanism was incompatible with his philosophical beliefs. But he still remained involved in the church. We also observed a classroom that did not have the supplies needed and found that a large percentage of the students were not engaged, and a few had their heads down on their desks. In this class, when the teacher asked questions only three students participated and the rest did not. During both classroom visits we made sure to pick similar teachers that were teaching the same subject with similar lesson plans. We began to see the effect of not having supplies versus having a well– supplied classroom. We then realized that the school 's process for financial expenditures is not well aligned with students ' needs and was affecting the end product, which provides the engagement and educational needs of the students.
