2. What does a production company do? The main objective for a production company is to make the film, they are responsible for the filming and production of the film. They would also be responsible for the casting, they would have to make sure they get the actors that are needed to play the parts. They will also be responsible for making sure all legal factors are taken care of and dealt with. They would have to plan the film and allocate different people to different sectors of filming and production. They would also be responsible for props and settings, the would be in charge of making sure the whole filming and functioning of the movie would run smoothly. In some cases they may have to find a company to distribute the film or even distribute it themselves.
3. The Production company logos you have chosen and or created and why? We created our logo which is based on an anagram of ‘Toast’ this stands for ‘Totally Outrageous and Sexy Thrillers’. Our logo has a background of a piece of toast, and sitting on the piece of toast is the word ‘Toast’ written. The word toast changes colour and at the end the word productions fades in at the end of this. Below is a few of screen shots of our logo.
4. What does a distributor do? A film distributor is the company who is responsible for promoting the film and arranging the releases. They are responsible for making in available to the public to buy, download and view. The will also be the company responsible for advertising the film trough TV, internet, posters and any other form of advertising.
5. Why you have chosen the distribution companies you have to release your film We have chosen Lionsgate to distribution our film as we know they are an established company that has a good track record of distributing films with no trouble. The films that they have distributed are very like our film, in the sense that they are aimed at the same target audience as our film is, this means that they have built up a loyalty with many different people who would distribute and advertise our film. Below are two films out of many that Lionsgate have distributed. Saw IV (2007) … Distributor (2007) (UK) (theatrical) Drive Angry 3D (2011) … Distributor (2010) (UK) (all media) Lionsgate would be interested distributing our film as they have had films before that they have made a success, our film is very much like these films and has just as much potential as they did.
6. Funding the Film The film would most likely be funded by Lionsgate, they would fund the film in return for the distribution rights and may take a certain percentage of the profits made from the movie. All this would be negotiated before the film is made.
