Active and passive voice.
• The pasive is a construction that consist of 
changing subject and object using the verb to 
be and the past participle of the main verb. 
• The direct object turns to be the subject of 
pasive sentences. 
• Active: subject + verb+ CD 
“ I paint the wall”. 
• Passive: subject + (be participle) + 
C.Agent(by+..) 
“ The wall is painted by me”
Impersonal Passive. 
• Some verbs such as: understand, believe, 
say, think, consider, expect, suppose, 
know, suspect, imagine, estimate. 
Have a different structure one of them is 
to write it and the verb to be in to passive 
and the rest of the sentences it is the 
same. 
“I consider (he is my bother) 
“ He is considered to be my bother” 
“It is considered he is my brother”
Direct and Indirect Object. 
• When there is an indirect object then this 
one turns to be the subject of the passive 
and direct object remains the same. 
“I gave a doll to my sister” 
“My sister was given to me”
Love, Like and Hate. 
• When there is a verb of sense then we 
write the verb to be in the gerund form. 
“I like they talk to me” 
“I like being talked to”
From passive to active voice. 
• The subject of the passive turns to be the 
direct object of the active voice and the 
agent is the subject of the active 
“The statue was given to the U.S by the 
French in 1886” 
“The French gave the statue to the U.S in 
1886”
