3. DEFINITION :
 Family planning means to plan and limit the size of family in
accordance with the social and economical, and health conditions
so is to be ensure that the family is happy both physically and
mentally.
The term family planning is replaced by border
term know as family welfare when is basically related to the quality
of life.

4. OBJECTIVES OF FAMILY PLANNING :
 Following are the objectives of family planning.
1. To avoid unwanted births.
2. To bring about wanted births
3. To regulate intervals between the pregnancies.
4. To determine the number of children in the family.
5. To control pregnancies in relation to the age of the
parent.
6. To prevent the frequent pregnancies induced stress on
the physical and psychological health of the mother.

 Displaying the family planning postures in hospital and drug
stores.
 Advising people about the importance of family planning,
spacing of children etc.
 By distributing of pamphlets of family planning.
 Explaining about the oral contraceptives and family planning
techniques.
 Pharmacist can control the raising population through
counselling the people and conducting educational
programmes that highlight the problems associated with high
populations.

7.  Pharmacist can educate the people and convenience them about
the advantage of having small families.
 Publicity of programmes.
 Explanation of techniques and or usage methods.
 Refer of family planning centres.
 Social services.
 Organising talks, seminars and documentation.
 Demonstrating the comparative studies.
