Craft Beer Research Paper
Craft Beer: Top 5 in Vancouver Island
British Columbia is home to a lot of craft breweries, and the number has nearly tripled in the last four years. This growth has created a lot of
changes in the craft beer market, and many unique flavours have emerged in recent years. Many of these craft breweries create special brews and
limited edition flavours. While these specialty beers can be a big seller, the beers that are produced year round are where you are going to find the
best beers in British Columbia. With the high numbers of craft breweries on Vancouver Island, and in British Columbia, it is one of the best places in
Canada to experience craft beer. If you are looking for the best craft beers that are produced on Vancouver Island, here are some craft beers that you
should look into.

Spinnaker's Brewery Cascadia Dark Ale, or CDA has a big, hoppy flavour, and is a very dark chestnut colour. CDA has a strong aroma that is
made up of caramel and hops. For a dark ale, CDA is lighter in colour and smells less like hops than other dark ales. The CDA has a body that is
fairly light for a dark ale, but it still has a big flavour profile. The main flavours that make up this craft beer are toffee and caramel, with a light burnt
tone. It has an underlying citrus and pine flavour, creating a sweet and slightly bitter beer. Spinnaker's Brewery CDA is a very unique craft beer, but it
is that unique flavour that makes it many people's favorite flavoured

My Standpoint as a communicator
Personality Type
My personality type is INFP according to (citation of website), they describe this type as "the true idealist always looking for the hint of good in
even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, INFPs
have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine."(citation) this resonates with me because I do see myself as an idealist and I feel that it is my
idealism that allows me to communicate as I do despite being an introvert. While I generally do prefer being alone, I have this need to share my ideas

Animal welfare officers make on average $23.90/hr in Canada, although this depends on location and education level. Although the education
requirement for applying to be an animal welfare officer is a high school diploma, university degrees in an animal related field are beneficial and will
result in a higher starting wage. There is a certification program for animal welfare officers, however, this is not required to become an animal welfare
officer.
The Skills Required
Most of the technicals required are animal handling. Communication skills are very important for animal welfare officers because they work with
people who are already at high levels of emotional stress and are potentially dangerous. They need to be able to very level headed, have good
interpersonal skills and be very empathetic to others. Most importantly the need to have a love of animals. Professionally the working conditions can
be very difficult as they must be able to deal with potentially dangerous animals and people, they also have to witness animal cruelty which can be very
emotionally taxing. (Cite all of this

Analysis Of Chop Shop
Chop Shop also gives viewers the impression that Ale and Izzy will be able to escape from poverty soon with just a little hard work. After Ale
confronts Izzy at night while she is working as a prostitute, she runs home upset and sleeps in the bathroom. The next morning, they awaken and meet
outside the garage in the morning sunlight. Ale, smiling, begins feeding pigeons. Once there's a large crowd, Izzy stands up and smiles and goes
"HEY" and they all fly away (Bahrani). The contrast between the dark night they returned home and the bright morning is stark. The new morning
brought them happiness. It shows that even though they are still in poverty and they do not know what to do right now, they still have a bright future.

In Changing the Face of Poverty: Nonprofits and the Problem of Representation, Diana George questions, "How do we identify those 'deserving'
of our help?" The idea of "deserving" vs "undeserving" poor in Chop Shop is interesting. When selling candy to people on the subway, Ale made it
clear that he was "deserving" by saying "I don't even go to school" (Bahrani). This makes the others on the subway feel bad for him and makes
them buy candy because a poor child who is not even going to school is deserving of their money. On the other hand, when Ale stole a woman's
purse, she was left thinking that Ale is not one of the "deserving" poor. She believes that Ale is just a bad person who does not deserve help as he
is a thief, even though she has no idea about the rest of life or practices. The layout of the movie causes the viewer to see Ale as one of the
"deserving" poor. Though many of the people he interacts with are in a similar situations, he is the one people watching Chop Shop care about. This
perpetuates the idea that some poor are "deserving" and some poor are "undeserving" which is harmful to efforts to try to eradicate poverty in the
United States.
Chop Shop also perpetuates the idea that poverty cannot happen to just anyone. In George's essay, she mentions that Kim Puuri, the owner of a Habitat

Mountain Man Beer
MOUNTAIN MAN BREWING CASE WRITE–UP
Problem Statement:
Mountain Man Brewing (MMB) has been successful with only one beer, Mountain Man Lager, but consumption has decreased. The decrease in sales
for this beer has caused a decrease in profits, since it is their only product. Mountain Man needs to consider a change in their positioning strategy to
increase sales and profits to keep the business successful.
Alternative #1: Create, promote and sell Mountain Man Lager Light
Pros: It gives them the use of their name that is already well known and liked in their current market area. It creates a light beer for the younger target
market that drinks light beers. Cons: It could result in customers switching from regular to light, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will face a higher production demand if they do increase sales to more areas. There will be more importance and expense on distribution due to
having to make the sales with businesses in more distant States and with having to provide them with the product in a timely and dependable manner.
Recommendation:
Mountain Man Brewing should choose alternative #3 to keep the Mountain Man Lager beer as their only beer and work to grow it into a larger
market by moving into additional States. Doing so keeps them focused on the strength of their unique and successful beer, rather than trying to move
toward something more common to follow behind competitors. If they were to pursue the light beer, it may increase revenue, but not likely to be by
that much. Even though the consumption of the light beers has grown significantly in the younger market segment, it is still most likely that they will
usually choose the common, major brands, such as Bud Light and Miller Light. They could not get into true competition with the major brands, and
would most likely take away sales from their current product due to customers either switching to the light beer or losing dedication to their unique
offer. Even though it may leave out the younger consumer market, they can still draw interest from those individuals as they get older and become
more likely to trying specialty beers. They could also look for ways to market

Although craft brewers use a number of unique additives to their batches to get the right flavor, such as fruits, nuts and honey, the major necessity is
hops. Although hops can be sourced globally, the market demand is steeply rising will inevitably drive up the cost. Larger macro–brewers will have
both the financial leverage and the economies of scale to get the best of what is around, leaving microbrewers and nano–brewers to source elsewhere.
There is also the consideration of price strategy in the market. Craft beer is known for its higher cost of production and higher purchase price to
consumers, but as the trends in micro– and nano–breweries expands the question remains as to if they will take on a similar pricing model to that of
the macro–brewers in the United States. Currently, the pricing trends amongst macro–brewers are almost solely based on a single manufacturer, as
noted by Robert Uihlein, Chairman of the Schlitz Brewery, 'a price increase is needed, but it will take Anheuser–Busch to do it,' (Rojas, p.3). This trend
has only slightly manifested itself on the smaller market and realistically has just adhered to a standard model of pricing thus far, with little
fluctuation based on demand. As an example, there is a number of craft breweries who have become infamous for releasing their most coveted brews
on a limited basis, but price

Mountain Man Brewing Company (MMBC) is a 2nd tier domestic beer manufacturer based out of West Virginia. MMBC is positioned as a leader
among local brewers in the East Central region, being one of the four regional breweries still operational in West Virginia. MMBC brews only one
type of beer – the Mountain Man Lager, a dark bitter tasting beer. Target market for the product is middle aged men from the blue collared working

The loan approval board has currently reviewed the loan application of the Redhook Ale Brewery in connection to the proposed issuance of an
expansion loan for the amount of $6.5 million dollars. Redhook Ale has been a valued customer with no complaints but yet there are still some areas
of concern in regards to this proposed application. U.S. Bank could possibly face losses on their investment in the end causing more liability.

They want to expand into the lager industry which is excellent strategic move due to the fact that it allows them to create a niche market in the area.
There are no local lager breweries in the area anymore this should definitely be displayed through sales profits.
Application of Methodologies
A customer for some years now, Redhook Ale has never let U.S. Bank down. They have proved to be excellent customers meeting all payment
agreements on past investments. Rapid growth in sales and local market share give U.S. Bank reason to believe Redhook is running a successful and
loyal operation. They present no immediate threat to why they should not receive funding.
Alternatives/Scenario Evaluation
1. Provide the $6.5 million loan to Redhook Ale Brewery –Redhook could possibly default of their loan causing U.S. Bank to confiscate their collateral
2. U.S. Bank could reject Redhook Ale Brewery's loan application –U.S. Bank may loose Redhook Ale as a future client. –Redhook Ale may produce
bad press about U.S. Bank causing harm to sales
Recommendation
The U.S. Bank loan approval board recommends that U.S. bank allocate the $6.5 million dollar loan to Redhook. Redhook has been a valued customer
of the bank for a couple years now never faulting on any payments. Due to the fact that they have missed past payments and by looking at the past
financial performance of the company shows that they have capability to

Classification of Beer
What 's more refreshing on a hot summer day than a nice cold beer? Or how about drinking a nice cold one with some buddies after work at a local
bar, sound nice doesn 't it? Beer has been around for many years and will probably be around for many more. A beer is any variety of alcoholic
beverages produced by the fermentation of starchy material derived from grains or other plant sources. The production of beer and some other alcoholic
beverages is often called brewing. Most every culture has there own tradition and the own take on beer, thus producing many different styles and
variations.
Simply put, a beer style is a label given to a beer that describes its overall character and often times its origin. It 's a name badge that has ... Show more

During the secondary stage, the lager clears and mellows. The cooler conditions also inhibit the natural production of esters and other byproducts,
resulting in a "crisper" tasting beer. Modern methods of producing lager were pioneered by Gabriel Sedlmayr the Younger, who perfected dark brown
lagers at the Spaten Brewery in Bavaria, and Anton Dreher, who began brewing a lager, probably of amber–red color, in Vienna in 1840В–1841. With
modern improved fermentation control, most lager breweries use only short periods of cold storage, typically 1В–3 weeks. Most of today 's lager is
based on the Pilsner style, pioneered in 1842 in the town of PlzeГІ, in the Czech Republic. The modern Pilsner lager is light in colour and high in
carbonation, with a mild hop flavour and an alcohol content of 3В–6% by volume. The Budweiser brand of beer is a typical example of a pilsner.
The five main sub–catagories of lagers are: pilsner, bock, helles, dunkel and Oktoberfest. Pilsners ' defining elements were the extremely soft water
that was pumped locally and the unique aromatic hops that were also grown nearby. Pilsners are malty sweet, and well hopped. Caramel flavors are
often noticed accompanied by medium to high bitterness. Pilsners have a good amount of carbonation and are clean and crisp. Bock beer is a hearty
beer with high alcohol content. Contrary to the rumor, bock beer is not what 's cleaned out of the

The ads were particularly aimed at sports events where Napanee Beer sold kegs of beer on tap. The marketing group worked for months with a top
advertising firm on the campaign. Their effort was successful in terms of significantly higher demand for Napanee Beer 's keg beer at sports stadiums.
However, the production department had not been notified of the marketing campaign and was not prepared for the increased demand. The company

As the trainers predicted, the team 's actions would almost always result in unexpected consequences. Explain how this simulation relates to the open
systems perspective of organizational behaviour. The production simulation teaches teams that organizations are complex systems with many
interdependent parts. As such, complex systems tend to produce unintended consequences when one part of the system is altered. The lesson here is to
recognize the repercussions of subsystem actions on other parts of the organization.

The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex
Introduction
The Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex is a great place for business. It is home to multiple companies and their corporate headquarters– and with an
international airport, open trade routes, multiple universities and academic institutions – it proves to be the perfect location for businesses and
professionals alike. One such company that is headquartered in Plano, TX, and is an example of a thriving organization in the area, is the Dr Pepper
Snapple Group. A mostly domestic company, with most of its business located in North American and Mexico, the DPS Group is a manufacturer of
nonalcoholic beverages in the beverage industry and is third in overall market share (after Coca–Cola and Pepsico). The beverage industry is steady
and growing, but the nonalcoholic beverage portion of the industry is facing many challenges with carbonated soft drinks declining in sales due to a
more health–conscious population. Analyzing the DPS Group and how they are dealing with these challenges was very interesting, as I have always
been a Dr Pepper fan and would hate to see them go out of business or die out in the market. I have known people who have worked for the company
and loved it, and I hope to work for them someday as well. I collected my research on the company through their website, articles and journals, and my
own knowledge of the company and research into the company history through a visit to the Dr Pepper museum.

Reasons for Using Hops in Beer
Hops are one of the ingredients in beer that contains bitter flavor. Hops are flowers of Humulus lupulus and usually it is used in brewing. Hop plants
have four main structures, which are strig, bracteole, bract, and lupulin glands. Lupulin glands contain resins and essential oils. Bitterness comes from
alpha acids in lupulin glands. According to textbook (2012), hops have two basic market classes, bitterness and aroma. When hops are placed to the
wort in the beginning of the boiling, it creates the bitterness. When hops are put into the boiling process at the end, it creates the hoppy aroma
(Oliver, 2012, p. 459). The reason of adding aroma hops at the end is to minimize the evaporation (Agnew, 2008, p. 5). By boiling the hops, alpha
acids are isomerized, which is a chemical process that changes alpha acids to provide bitterness. Hop's flavor and aroma are developed from
essential oils in lupulin glands. The process is similar with bittering. The flavor comes from oil dissolving into the boiling wort. Bitterness of hop is
measured by IBU. IBU is international Bitterness Unit that is a standard for measuring bitterness (Oliver, 2012, p. 489). According to textbook (2012),
"IBUs are calculated values composed of the quantity of material in wort of beer derived from hop resin, multiplied by the fraction 5/7" (Oliver, 2012,
p. 490). There are several reasons for using hops in beer. According to textbook (2012), "hops increase its microbiological stability, help stabilize

After graduation, during the winter of 1990, First recreated a peach fruit juice drink that he came across in Spain and started a side business selling fresh

SWOT Analysis
Strength
Nantucket Nectars' numerous strengths have led to their success. They produce all natural products that have a great taste, have a very strong
management team as well as a strong branding, guerilla marketing skills, possess the ability to exploit small, rapidly changing market opportunities, last
good access to single–serve distribution in the New Age beverage market, and is the best vehicle for juice companies to expand into the juice cocktail
category without risking their own brand equity. In addition, Nantucket Nectars' management team has the required knowledge and experience with the
single–serve business and thus has the ability to add value to large player who wants to roll out new single–serve products.
Weakness
As a company with limited financial resources, Nantucket Nectars have been disadvantaged in their channels of distribution. They have not been able
to distribute their products in the supermarket on a large scale. As can be seen from tables D and E, although most of the New Age beverages were
sold in the supermarkets (55%), the proportion of Nantucket Nectars supermarket sales was only 1%. Nantucket Nectars distributed their products
mainly through other channels like delis and educational institutions and is thus missing out on a large portion of the consumers pie This inevitably
means that the company would be able to increase their revenue substantially if they were able to distribute their products in the

My Family Vacation
A vacation is meant to be a time for serenity and relaxation. In my case it was the complete opposite, but it changed me for the better. Five years
ago a family vacation to Jamaica changed the way I saw everything and made me appreciate the people I love and where I come from. It all started
with the worst airplane ride. About thirty minutes into the ride the flight attendant started going around offering snacks. These purple potato chips
caught my eye so that's what I decided to get. I should have known something so bright couldn't have been good to eat. I instantly regretted eating the
chip after taking a bite out of that awfully weird tasting potato chip because immediately after, I felt a striking pain in my lower abdomen. I tried to
relieve the pain by loosening the seat belt buckle. I drank ginger ale, tried to position myself differently to feel less discomfort but nothing helped. My
brother was too busy on his I–pad to care, my other brother was too young to formulate proper sentences and my mom was too far gone in her sleep,
she couldn't have been any help fresh out of slumber. I just rocked back and forth releasing "oohs" and "ah's" here and there because the pain was
intolerable. I kept on for the remaining three–hour flight weeping and wincing, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn't disturb anyone. Landing in Jamaica
was supposed to be exciting, but how could I be excited when I was in pain. My mom, two younger brothers and I were waiting for my uncle to
arrive and take us to his house, so I took this opportunity to tell my mom what was going on. She believed that it might just be cramps so she buys me
two bottles of ginger beer which is like the ginger ale of Jamaica, So I drank and I drank and I drank but nothing happened. My uncle finally arrived
after 15 minutes of chugging down the ginger beer. We were settling in my uncle's house and my mom tried everything she could to make me feel
better. She made tea, gave me more ginger beer, and a hot pack for my stomach but nothing worked. After my mom and uncle tried everything they
could think of they finally came to the conclusion that it was time to bring me to the doctor.
My visit to the doctor's office was a different experience from all

Informative Essay About Craft Beer
As I sit here on this park bench pondering the writings of Thoreau and Emerson, I remove a lukewarm beverage of the alcoholic variety from my
backpack and evoke the creative juices. Although some may question the legality of drinking alcohol in public, let me declare that at least it's in a can.
As I sip on this bitter liquid, I inquire as to the source of the non–conventual thinking that is Transcendentalism. Many themes seem reminiscent to
eastern religions and Native American Philosophy. As most researchers of Native American culture will attest, many of their mythologies and
allegories of nature were a product of the psychedelic experience induced by peyote. With that thought I look down at my brew, with its tiny bits of

everything's gunna be alright *walkie talkie voice*." I lick the bubbles from my mustache and feel the excessive amount of alcohol that is contained in
this small glass, warm my chest with solace. I attempted to introduce my then roommates into my new–found interest but was met with opposition and
expressions of disgust. One roommate said it felt like he was drinking fabuloso (a cleaning product). I protested initially and tried explaining the
sophistication and subtleties of the beer I chose for the night. They were use to throwing back beers or chugging. I was into the overall experience and
slowly enjoying my beer with all its complexities and varieties. My beer was meant to adjust to room temperature, not poured into a taste numbing ice
cold class. I learned that my beer however would be the only one not stolen in our shared refrigerator. This forwarded my interest and broadened my
palette for the most vicious unfavorable beer any person would dare attempt to drink.

The purpose of this memo is to explain the results of our variance analysis. We will discuss the implications of each variance in relation to Dessert
Valley's Premium Pale Ale and Blonde Lager.
A.Static budget variance analysis
Static budget variances provide an overall picture of whether planned results were achieved, and they are a useful starting point for investigating sales
revenue and fixed costs. However, static budget variances make it difficult to determine whether a variance is due to a change in expected volume or to
other aspects of performance. Premium Pale Ale
–Analysis shows an overall unfavourable result driven from an increase in variable costs driven from an increase in quantity sold versus what was
budgeted.

I took my family to Modern Times. Yes I took my five and one and a half year old son's into a tasting room along with my wife. Before you go off
about being a derelict father a little bit of explaining is in order. I don't typically travel ,with family in toe, to beer tasting rooms. Nor do I think it
appropriate to take them to a bar. That being said, I thought I would test the "family friendly environment" that was communicated on the Modern
Times websites, about us, page. Its true they let us right into the tasting room with no problems. We kept the troops in order with food and Legos,
until the one year old decided it was time to go about 40 minutes in. Way to kill the mood.

The Philosophers Revealed In The Roosters By Ale Woods
This story is about a family's roosters who were attacked. Their mother thinks it was the neighbor's dog who attacked them. There is evidence for that
because Buster was always hanging around the rooster pen with its mouth open and watery. Buster would stare at the roosters and his expression
would always look like he wanted to eat those roosters.
They all found out on one cold, snowy day. Their Dad was out on a business trip and everybody was in the warm house except Lanie who burst
through the back door and yelled "The roosters are dead!". Everyone was shocked about this news and the mother went outside to see for herself and it
was true, the roosters were dead. She was very sad and so was Lanie who looked like she was about to cry.

Their mother later said that their could be some roosters in the Ale Woods that have survived the attack so she decided to go look for them in the
woods. Suddenly Jimmy decided to go with her because he said that he knew the way in the woods better than her so both of them went out into the

Every body was happy in the house and Lanie rushed toward the door to open it for them and see which roosters have survived. When Lanie saw the

Process Essay-ewives And Brewers
Alewives and brewers were peasants who had special jobs in addition to the agricultural work they did on the manor. Ale was a highly popular
medieval drink that was brewed from barley or other grains. There was a step by step procedure in making ale (Singman 153). First, the seeds were
heated and roasted, in a process called malting (Singman 53). This allowed the seeds to convert into soluble starches, adding flavor to the ale
(Singman 53). It was then ground, boiled in water to extract its contents, and strained to remove the solid (Singman 53). Herbal flavorings were added
to give more flavor and the liquid was then fermented with yeast (Singman 53). After a batch was ready, an alewife displayed a sign telling peasants the

Because it was the basic diet for people in the Middle Ages, each household required a large and steady supply, and the ale was served fresh
(Placeway). Tenants who did work such as harvesting or plowing for the lord were well fed and enjoyed an unlimited supply of ale (Adamson 91). In
medieval society, the favorite adult recreation was drinking (Gies and Gies, 1990 103). Men and women gathered in a tavern, usually in the house of a
neighbor who recently brewed a batch of ale (Gies and Gies, 1990 103). Each religious community was given a gallon of ale a day, but some were
allowed more if they wanted (Mortimer 87). The price of the drink was regulated by law ("The Alewife," A Writer's Perspective). Brewers were
suppose to call for an ale taster before selling any ale ("The Alewife," A Writer's Perspective). An ale taster was appointed to make sure any ale sold by
the alewife was made to the correct standard ("The Alewife," A Writer's Perspective). He or she regulated thebrewing process and took an oath to be
responsible and mature (Gies and Gies, 1978 161). The ale taster made sure the correct price was charged and the correct measures were used ("The

Beer Classification Paper
The history of beer dates back hundreds of years prior to written history. Besides water and tea, beer is one of the most–frequently consumed
beverages in the world. Contrary to popular belief, that all beers are typically the same, there are many variances in color, flavor, strength, production
method, ingredients and origin. Beer can be divided into 2 broad sub–categories: ale and lager. Ales were the first type of beer ever created before
brewers knew the role yeast played during the beer making process. Ale yeasts flocculate at the top of the fermentation tank and are brewed from
malted barley using a warm fermentation. The yeast ferments the beer quickly, which gives it a full bodied and fruity taste. They also contain hops,
which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something else that adds to the taste of a beer, are additional ingredients. The last major difference between ales and lagers are there supplementary
ingredients. Ales typically have more of a malty taste, due to an elevated amount of hops, malts, and roasted malts that are added during production.
Ale brewers, typically have more leeway with how they produce their beer, and tend to add a several different ingredients during brewing, like the ones
mentioned above. These extra ingredients are referred to as, adjuncts. Brewers of lagers only have a few, simple ingredients: malted grain, hops,
yeast, and water. The production method of lagers is somewhat due to the stringent Reinheitsgebot Law, also known as the "German beer purity law".
This law prohibits any adjuncts during the brewing process of lagers, only permitting water, barely, and hops as ingredients. Tea and water maybe two
of the most consumed beverages in the world, but beer is right behind in a close third. Beer is gradually becoming more and more popular. This is
evident through the new trends of beer companies that have begun to accommodate for the new low calorie beer trend. Corona, Heineken, and
Anheuser–Busch have led the pack by producing "Corona Lite", "Heineken Lite", and "Budweiser Select". With more and more companies attending to
these trends, beer has broadened their target market. Overall, these companies are innovating the deeply historic

ex. Light beer, Amber beer, Low Alcohol, And Malt Liquor. Imports are perceived to be better quality: when in fact, they are really not. Because of this
perception, Import beer costs more than domestic beer does. Imports are differentiated by taste and packaging. Small brewers offer a superpremium
product that is not very differentiated. The main differences can be attributed to the brewing process, price, and packaging. Scale economies is high
among national companies due to their large size. Their ability to distribute fixed costs is easily done because of the large volume that is
produced. Their is also economies of scale in product extension and brand proliferation. Regional companies have moderate economies of scale.
Regionals do not produce as much as larger natioanal companies but, they can still spread some of there costs over their moderate volumes. Local
brewers have low economies of scale. Production is so small that it is very difficult to distribute costs. A local brewer cannot spread the cost of
advertising over their product without having to raise the price of their product considerably. Capacity utilization in the U.S. Beer industry is between
75% and 85%. The beer industry is suffering from overcapacity. Despite this, a few companies are still expanding while others are closing down some
operations. Because of flat sales, their is no need to overproduce. Industry

Their installation of four 250–watt co–generation fuel cells earned them a visit from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. They have long had the first
largest private installation of solar panels in the nation. They engage in heat recovery, CO2 recovery, water recycling, bought their own cows to eat

Florida Craft Brewery : Islamorada Beer Company Essay
Florida Craft Brewery: Islamorada Beer Company – North Location
Established: The Fort Pierce location of the Islamorada Beer Company had its grand opening August 19th and 20th, 2016. The original location on the
island of Islamorada in the Florida Keys opened in October 2014.
Location: 3200 St Lucie Blvd, Fort Pierce, FL 34946
Known For: Islamorada Beer Company is known for their easy drinking fun in the sun beers. Whether it's a day on the water, a day at the beach, or a
day doing yard work their beers are designed for the hot summer days of Florida. The beers at the Islamorada Beer Company are so sessionable that
they attract mainstream beer drinkers into the craft beer fold.
Current Beer Menu: On the day of my visit, Islamorada had six of their own beers on tap and the guest tap was Guava IPA from SailfishBrewing Co. In
the future, there will be more beer offered on tap but for now they have only just started brewing on their new system. A lot of what they are pouring
is still coming from the brewery down south, which uses a two–barrel system. The first of the six beers I tried was Sandbar Sunday, which is an
American Wheat built to be your everyday beer. No frills needed here. Just a refreshing beer for a hot day. Islamorada Ale is a citrus ale that's crisp

Assignment Of Preparing A Strategic Plan Essay
The organization selected for the assignment of preparing a strategic plan to grow the company over a year period is: The "Veteran Beer Company,"
Founded in 2012. I was introduced to this company by one of my former subordinate soldiers who serve with me during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
This soldier left the service about the same time that I retired and he went to work for the VeteranBeer Company while he was attending college in
Illinois. He started promoting their beer on Face Book and that is how I found out about the Veteran Beer Company. The Veteran Beer Company's
website states that the company "is dedicated to providing lives of quality for military Veterans through the creation of meaningful post–service
careers." The company produces, sells, and delivers craft beers of superior quality, striving to employ Veterans in every role within the organization.
Whenever possible, we use Veteran–owned small businesses in our supply chain and insist that the entire supply chain have a Veteran–first hiring
policy. Our employees–all Veterans of the US military–adhere to the highest principles of military service, conducting business with integrity, courage,
and loyalty. Importantly, 10% percent of everything we make goes to charities that support Veterans causes; the other 90% goes to employ Veterans
(Veteran Beer Company, 2016). The company is small but they plan to employ up to 3500 veterans within five years. Their beer is currently produced

Porter 's Five Forces Industry Competition
Porter's Five Forces
Industry Competition / Intensity of Rivalry:
As with every industry and business, there is competition. In the case of the craft beer industry, the competition is medium and growing. From
challenging the big macro–breweries, to battling against new incoming brewery businesses, the craft beer industry is absolutely on the radar for
competition. Macro–breweries are still the largest competitors with craft breweries. The major player in the craft beer industry, according to
IBISWorld, is The Boston Beer Company. It holds a market share in the overall beer industry of only 2.7%, and a revenue of $885.5 million in 2014.
In comparison to the major players in the overall beer industry, Anheuser–Busch InBev and MillerCoors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If consumers prefer a specific beer and keep asking for it at bars, which only have a specific amount of taps, will put that beer on more often to suit the
increased demand. This makes the beer and the brewery more popular, all the while intensifying the rivalry for bar space.
Suppliers:
The suppliers for craft beer include the source of the ingredients and the source of the materials used in production. The craft beer industry relies on
responsible, dependable, fresh supplies from different industries to make production and distribution possible. The suppliers for production include
various industries for the basic ingredients; wheat, barley, soybean, corn, yeast, malt, nuts, sugar and water. Other suppliers for distribution include the
packaging industry, which consists of aluminum, glass, cardboard, and containers. Smaller companies face a financial barrier here when attempting to
make flavorful beers that require high priced raw materials.
The lofty prices of high quality ingredients often act as a barrier to newcomers seeking to establish a niche in the market. Lastly, the printing industry
also plays a role as a supplier by printing labels. Due to the uniqueness craft brewing methods, not all batches turn out the same, so the industry may
have to charge higher prices based on the cost of production. Since each craft beer style has a unique measuring and brewing method, there is a large
variety

The Brewing Co Of Michigan Breweries
Over the last 20 plus years, there has been a rapidly growing number of craft breweries in the United States, including the State of Michigan. According
to the official State of Michigan – Pure Michigan website (http://www.michigan.org/breweries/), "The craft beer craze is sweeping Michigan, making it
fifth in the nation in the number of breweries, microbreweries and brewpubs." The Michigan Beer Guide (2016), lists 259 different craft brewers in its
current issue.
While there seem to be many success stories, there are also examples of Michigan breweries that have gone out of business. According to Steven R.
Reed (2013), "Michigan Brewing Co. founder ... took the Webberville company into bankruptcy this week, seven months after one of 300–plus
creditors forced the auction of his equipment along with brands that had developed a statewide following." As a personal observer of this story during
its unfolding, to casual appearances, this was a busy, successful micro–brewery. This micro–brewery was one of the first in Michigan to take advantage
of the growing popularity of the niche, yet suffered an untimely end. Craft breweries can, obviously, fail like any other business enterprise.
One of the reputed benefits which have allowed the new craft beer industry to grow and thrive is the better profit margins possible for making beer
and ale on premises. Business scholars Kleban & Nickerson (2011) have noted that "Since 2006, the craft beer industry has been able to

Jacksonville Ale Home-Personal Narrative
Back in 2012, I live in a town called Middleburg, Florida. May 27th was my brother's birthday, so, to celebrate, we were going to his favorite
restaurant, the 'Jacksonville Ale House'. We stopped at a gas station before heading there to pick up something. My brother and I stayed inside the
car, and it seemed like my parents took forever inside the gas station. Whenever they finally came out, they had a woman around late 20s and a
little girl with them. They both smelled horrid and looked like they had not showered in a couple days. I remember my parents saying, "we are
going to take them to the west side of Jacksonville and drop them off in the Walmart parking lot". The woman and little girl had been kicked out of
their house by the woman's husband, who had worked for my dad in the past. When we went and dropped off the woman, we gave her our number
and said to call us if she needed us to watch the little girl. Her name was Sam. We went on with our night and right as we were leaving the Ale
house, we got a call from the woman asking if we could watch Sam overnight. She came and stayed with us, and her mom did not call us back for a
couple days. Those couple days turned into weeks, eventually months. My parents started taking foster parenting classes and eventually called CPS

"Trust is defined as the willingness to be vulnerable to a trustee based on positive expectations about the trustees actions and intentions" (Colquitt p.

levels of 50,000 barrels or more. Magic Hat, however, has reached annual sales of over 150,000. Why has Magic Hat been relatively successful, and
does it have the potential to keep growing? If you were to enter the craft brewing market next summer, what would be your sales objective over the
following 5 years? What strategy would you use to achieve that objective?

Nantucket Nectars
Nantucket Nectars
Tom Scott and Tom First started Allserve, a floating convenience store serving boats in the Nantucket Harbour during their summer holidays in college.
After graduation, during the winter of 1990, First recreated a peach fruit juice drink that he came across in Spain and started a side business selling fresh
juice. Everyone loved the product and they went on to open the Allserve General Store on Nantucket's Straight Wharf. They named the fruit juice
"Nantucket Nectars".
Scott and First invested their collective life savings of about $17,000 to contract a bottler and finance inventory in the first two years. The next two
years saw them operating in an undercapitalized state on a small bank loan. Subsequently, in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Threat
Competition in the beverage industry is extremely intense. Competitors continually introduce new innovative products and consumers are bombarded
by numerous choices and promotions. Nantucket Nectars has been successful with increasing sales and continually innovating new products, and
grown to a middle–sized company. This position proves to be a dangerous one as it does not possess the financial strength of a large company but yet
may not have the nimbleness and innovativeness of a small company. In addition, the entrance of big players such as Coke, Pepsi and Tropicana
(Seagram) with strong financial standing may reduce their revenue.
Furthermore, the past few years saw Nantucket maturing and it has begun to stabilize as a company. This is a dangerous period for the company as
they will reach a crisis should they not undergo renewal in order to rejuvenate and stay relevant as well as competitive.
Therefore, it will be advantageous for Nantucket Nectars to form strategic alliance in order to leverage on the financial strength of its counterpart or
parent company to obtain shelf space in supermarket chains. With an extension of the distribution channels, they would be able to gain a greater market
share.
Should First and Scott sell Nantucket Nectars?
From the SWOT analysis, my recommendation would be for the founders to sell part of their company. This will form a symbiotic relationship
whereby Nantucket Nectars can leverage on the financial

Case Study
BULLMAN'S BREWERY CO LTD
Background to the Case Study.
1. Bullman's brewery was founded in the 1880s by the Bullman family and is based in the Toxteth area of Liverpool. The company owns two
breweries, one in Toxteth and one in St Helens, together with 400 public houses and off–licences situated in Liverpool, Merseyside and Lancashire.
The two breweries together produced 190,000 barrels of beer in 2011, although at their peak output in 2007 they turned out 240,000 barrels. Excluding
the company's tenants, some 1500 people are employed at the breweries, in distribution, in the small soft drinks subsidiary, in administration and as
public house managers.

Analysis Of Fea Abaqus, Adaptive Mesh ( Ale ) Method
MN5561 FEA REPORT
Student Number: 1337150
ABSTRACT
In FEA ABAQUS, adaptive mesh (ALE) method is one of the most important elements to maintain a high–quality mesh throughout an analysis in a case
that large deformation causes element distortion. The purpose of this master of engineering report is to use adaptive meshing in simulation of an
axisymmetric forging problem where highly deformation was seen. Meanwhile, investigating results of elastic–plastic deformation simulation in FEA
ABAQUS. Through finishing the simulation under different mesh sizes and mesh types in ABAQUS, rectangle type meshing is better for this forging
problem and the best final element size is 3 mm (normal).

This growth has created a lot of changes in the craft beer market, and many unique flavours have emerged in recent years. Many of these craft breweries create special brews and limited edition flavours. While these specialty beers can be a big seller, the beers that are produced year round are where you are going to find the best beers in British Columbia. With the high numbers of craft breweries on Vancouver Island, and in British Columbia, it is one of the best places in Canada to experience craft beer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spinnaker's Brewery Cascadia Dark Ale, or CDA has a big, hoppy flavour, and is a very dark chestnut colour. CDA has a strong aroma that is made up of caramel and hops. For a dark ale, CDA is lighter in colour and smells less like hops than other dark ales. The CDA has a body that is fairly light for a dark ale, but it still has a big flavour profile. The main flavours that make up this craft beer are toffee and caramel, with a light burnt tone. It has an underlying citrus and pine flavour, creating a sweet and slightly bitter beer. Spinnaker's Brewery CDA is a very unique craft beer, but it is that unique flavour that makes it many people's favorite flavoured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Analysis Of Chop Shop Chop Shop also gives viewers the impression that Ale and Izzy will be able to escape from poverty soon with just a little hard work. After Ale confronts Izzy at night while she is working as a prostitute, she runs home upset and sleeps in the bathroom. The next morning, they awaken and meet outside the garage in the morning sunlight. Ale, smiling, begins feeding pigeons. Once there's a large crowd, Izzy stands up and smiles and goes "HEY" and they all fly away (Bahrani). The contrast between the dark night they returned home and the bright morning is stark. The new morning brought them happiness. It shows that even though they are still in poverty and they do not know what to do right now, they still have a bright future. Viewers have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Changing the Face of Poverty: Nonprofits and the Problem of Representation, Diana George questions, "How do we identify those 'deserving' of our help?" The idea of "deserving" vs "undeserving" poor in Chop Shop is interesting. When selling candy to people on the subway, Ale made it clear that he was "deserving" by saying "I don't even go to school" (Bahrani). This makes the others on the subway feel bad for him and makes them buy candy because a poor child who is not even going to school is deserving of their money. On the other hand, when Ale stole a woman's purse, she was left thinking that Ale is not one of the "deserving" poor. She believes that Ale is just a bad person who does not deserve help as he is a thief, even though she has no idea about the rest of life or practices. The layout of the movie causes the viewer to see Ale as one of the "deserving" poor. Though many of the people he interacts with are in a similar situations, he is the one people watching Chop Shop care about. This perpetuates the idea that some poor are "deserving" and some poor are "undeserving" which is harmful to efforts to try to eradicate poverty in the United States. Chop Shop also perpetuates the idea that poverty cannot happen to just anyone. In George's essay, she mentions that Kim Puuri, the owner of a Habitat for Humanity home, ... The decrease in sales for this beer has caused a decrease in profits, since it is their only product. Mountain Man needs to consider a change in their positioning strategy to increase sales and profits to keep the business successful. Alternative #1: Create, promote and sell Mountain Man Lager Light Pros: It gives them the use of their name that is already well known and liked in their current market area. They will face a higher production demand if they do increase sales to more areas. There will be more importance and expense on distribution due to having to make the sales with businesses in more distant States and with having to provide them with the product in a timely and dependable manner. Recommendation: Mountain Man Brewing should choose alternative #3 to keep the Mountain Man Lager beer as their only beer and work to grow it into a larger market by moving into additional States. Doing so keeps them focused on the strength of their unique and successful beer, rather than trying to move toward something more common to follow behind competitors. If they were to pursue the light beer, it may increase revenue, but not likely to be by that much. Even though the consumption of the light beers has grown significantly in the younger market segment, it is still most likely that they will usually choose the common, major brands, such as Bud Light and Miller Light. They could not get into true competition with the major brands, and would most likely take away sales from their current product due to customers either switching to the light beer or losing dedication to their unique offer. Larger macro–brewers will have both the financial leverage and the economies of scale to get the best of what is around, leaving microbrewers and nano–brewers to source elsewhere. There is also the consideration of price strategy in the market. Craft beer is known for its higher cost of production and higher purchase price to consumers, but as the trends in micro– and nano–breweries expands the question remains as to if they will take on a similar pricing model to that of the macro–brewers in the United States. Currently, the pricing trends amongst macro–brewers are almost solely based on a single manufacturer, as noted by Robert Uihlein, Chairman of the Schlitz Brewery, 'a price increase is needed, but it will take Anheuser–Busch to do it,' (Rojas, p.3). This trend has only slightly manifested itself on the smaller market and realistically has just adhered to a standard model of pricing thus far, with little fluctuation based on demand. During the secondary stage, the lager clears and mellows. The cooler conditions also inhibit the natural production of esters and other byproducts, resulting in a "crisper" tasting beer. Modern methods of producing lager were pioneered by Gabriel Sedlmayr the Younger, who perfected dark brown lagers at the Spaten Brewery in Bavaria, and Anton Dreher, who began brewing a lager, probably of amber–red color, in Vienna in 1840В–1841. With modern improved fermentation control, most lager breweries use only short periods of cold storage, typically 1В–3 weeks. Most of today 's lager is based on the Pilsner style, pioneered in 1842 in the town of PlzeГІ, in the Czech Republic. The modern Pilsner lager is light in colour and high in carbonation, with a mild hop flavour and an alcohol content of 3В–6% by volume. The Budweiser brand of beer is a typical example of a pilsner. The five main sub–catagories of lagers are: pilsner, bock, helles, dunkel and Oktoberfest. Pilsners ' defining elements were the extremely soft water that was pumped locally and the unique aromatic hops that were also grown nearby. Pilsners are malty sweet, and well hopped. • 15. Reasons for Using Hops in Beer Hops are one of the ingredients in beer that contains bitter flavor. Hops are flowers of Humulus lupulus and usually it is used in brewing. Hop plants have four main structures, which are strig, bracteole, bract, and lupulin glands. Lupulin glands contain resins and essential oils. Bitterness comes from alpha acids in lupulin glands. According to textbook (2012), hops have two basic market classes, bitterness and aroma. When hops are placed to the wort in the beginning of the boiling, it creates the bitterness. When hops are put into the boiling process at the end, it creates the hoppy aroma (Oliver, 2012, p. 459). The reason of adding aroma hops at the end is to minimize the evaporation (Agnew, 2008, p. 5). By boiling the hops, alpha acids are isomerized, which is a chemical process that changes alpha acids to provide bitterness. Hop's flavor and aroma are developed from essential oils in lupulin glands. The process is similar with bittering. The flavor comes from oil dissolving into the boiling wort. Bitterness of hop is measured by IBU. IBU is international Bitterness Unit that is a standard for measuring bitterness (Oliver, 2012, p. 489). According to textbook (2012), "IBUs are calculated values composed of the quantity of material in wort of beer derived from hop resin, multiplied by the fraction 5/7" (Oliver, 2012, p. 490). There are several reasons for using hops in beer. According to textbook (2012), "hops increase its microbiological stability, help stabilize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Five years ago a family vacation to Jamaica changed the way I saw everything and made me appreciate the people I love and where I come from. It all started with the worst airplane ride. About thirty minutes into the ride the flight attendant started going around offering snacks. These purple potato chips caught my eye so that's what I decided to get. I instantly regretted eating the chip after taking a bite out of that awfully weird tasting potato chip because immediately after, I felt a striking pain in my lower abdomen. I just rocked back and forth releasing "oohs" and "ah's" here and there because the pain was intolerable. I kept on for the remaining three–hour flight weeping and wincing, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn't disturb anyone. Landing in Jamaica was supposed to be exciting, but how could I be excited when I was in pain. My mom, two younger brothers and I were waiting for my uncle to arrive and take us to his house, so I took this opportunity to tell my mom what was going on. She believed that it might just be cramps so she buys me two bottles of ginger beer which is like the ginger ale of Jamaica, So I drank and I drank and I drank but nothing happened. My uncle finally arrived after 15 minutes of chugging down the ginger beer. We were settling in my uncle's house and my mom tried everything she could to make me feel better. • 26. Process Essay-ewives And Brewers Alewives and brewers were peasants who had special jobs in addition to the agricultural work they did on the manor. Ale was a highly popular medieval drink that was brewed from barley or other grains. There was a step by step procedure in making ale (Singman 153). First, the seeds were heated and roasted, in a process called malting (Singman 53). This allowed the seeds to convert into soluble starches, adding flavor to the ale (Singman 53). It was then ground, boiled in water to extract its contents, and strained to remove the solid (Singman 53). Herbal flavorings were added to give more flavor and the liquid was then fermented with yeast (Singman 53). After a batch was ready, an alewife displayed a sign telling peasants the ale was ready ... Tenants who did work such as harvesting or plowing for the lord were well fed and enjoyed an unlimited supply of ale (Adamson 91). In medieval society, the favorite adult recreation was drinking (Gies and Gies, 1990 103). Men and women gathered in a tavern, usually in the house of a neighbor who recently brewed a batch of ale (Gies and Gies, 1990 103). Each religious community was given a gallon of ale a day, but some were allowed more if they wanted (Mortimer 87). The price of the drink was regulated by law ("The Alewife," A Writer's Perspective). Brewers were suppose to call for an ale taster before selling any ale ("The Alewife," A Writer's Perspective). An ale taster was appointed to make sure any ale sold by the alewife was made to the correct standard ("The Alewife," A Writer's Perspective). He or she regulated thebrewing process and took an oath to be responsible and mature (Gies and Gies, 1978 161). • 27. Beer Classification Paper The history of beer dates back hundreds of years prior to written history. Besides water and tea, beer is one of the most–frequently consumed beverages in the world. Contrary to popular belief, that all beers are typically the same, there are many variances in color, flavor, strength, production method, ingredients and origin. Beer can be divided into 2 broad sub–categories: ale and lager. Ales were the first type of beer ever created before brewers knew the role yeast played during the beer making process. Ale yeasts flocculate at the top of the fermentation tank and are brewed from malted barley using a warm fermentation. The yeast ferments the beer quickly, which gives it a full bodied and fruity taste. They also contain hops, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Something else that adds to the taste of a beer, are additional ingredients. The last major difference between ales and lagers are there supplementary ingredients. Ales typically have more of a malty taste, due to an elevated amount of hops, malts, and roasted malts that are added during production. Ale brewers, typically have more leeway with how they produce their beer, and tend to add a several different ingredients during brewing, like the ones mentioned above. These extra ingredients are referred to as, adjuncts. Brewers of lagers only have a few, simple ingredients: malted grain, hops, yeast, and water. The production method of lagers is somewhat due to the stringent Reinheitsgebot Law, also known as the "German beer purity law". This law prohibits any adjuncts during the brewing process of lagers, only permitting water, barely, and hops as ingredients. Tea and water maybe two of the most consumed beverages in the world, but beer is right behind in a close third. Beer is gradually becoming more and more popular. This is evident through the new trends of beer companies that have begun to accommodate for the new low calorie beer trend. Corona, Heineken, and Anheuser–Busch have led the pack by producing "Corona Lite", "Heineken Lite", and "Budweiser Select". • 34. The Brewing Co Of Michigan Breweries Over the last 20 plus years, there has been a rapidly growing number of craft breweries in the United States, including the State of Michigan. According to the official State of Michigan – Pure Michigan website (http://www.michigan.org/breweries/), "The craft beer craze is sweeping Michigan, making it fifth in the nation in the number of breweries, microbreweries and brewpubs." The Michigan Beer Guide (2016), lists 259 different craft brewers in its current issue. While there seem to be many success stories, there are also examples of Michigan breweries that have gone out of business. According to Steven R. Reed (2013), "Michigan Brewing Co. founder ... took the Webberville company into bankruptcy this week, seven months after one of 300–plus creditors forced the auction of his equipment along with brands that had developed a statewide following." As a personal observer of this story during its unfolding, to casual appearances, this was a busy, successful micro–brewery. This micro–brewery was one of the first in Michigan to take advantage of the growing popularity of the niche, yet suffered an untimely end. Craft breweries can, obviously, fail like any other business enterprise. One of the reputed benefits which have allowed the new craft beer industry to grow and thrive is the better profit margins possible for making beer and ale on premises.
