5. The colours make the film poster stand
out compared to others which have quite
dull colours. Some don’t have as many
stand out features as the suicide poster, it
also doesn't show the story its just a
picture or the main character. This leaves
a sense of mystery as it doesn't give
anything away to the story line just that
curtain characters will be in it. There's not
anything to say on lighting or location as
the poster is plain not giving much to say.
The denotation is that it’s a villain film
and the connotation is that it is scary evil
and creepy.
6. The cover shows the main
actors/actress. On there faces you can
see cuts and dirt can show that the
film will be action packed and people
will be getting hurt we can also say
that the look on there face and the use
of the wand shows that in danger
which can make the audience more
desperate to find out what will be
happening.
The location is set in London we can
see this as the tower bridge is in the
background.
The gloomy blue/grey creates a scary
effect. The denotation is that it is a
magic film and the connotation is that
it is dangerous and scary.
7. From this poster you can see that the film has
a large range of well know actors/actresses
(Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Keira Knightley
and Orlando Bloom). These main people are
on the poster, this is because people will
recognise them giving the movie a higher
amounts of people watching it. the use of
shadows and the orange sunset glow makes
them look warm which can link that parts of
this film are filmed in warmer areas of the
world. The lighting also shows an emphasis on
the facial expressions, one of the been a
mysterious look to show that there will be
aspects of mystery.
In the hand of the girl is a necklace which
shows it is an important part of the film (the
necklace leads the story of the film). It also
shows jack sparrow holding a knife and gun,
this is to emphasise the fact there pirates.
The denotation is that it is pirates and
romance the connotation is that it is action
and mysterious.
8. Soundtrack
• Clip 1 this clip has more of a
serious tone to it. This could
give the aspect that he is in
trouble or something is
happening quite serious in the
particular scene.
• Clip 2 it really upbeat and
springy which could mean that
that he is been congratulated
on something or that they are
friends in a work place.
9. Shining
• The use of the happy music with the bounce
makes it uplifting, they cut out all the bad
scary bits to it and show the good making it
less uneasy on the eyes to watch. The
commentator has a real happy tone to his
voice making the audience feel relaxed.
Adding the smooth transitions helps the
relaxing feel to it keep going throughout the
trailer compared o if it was a horror it would
have flashes an quick transitions.
10. Scary Mary
• He use of the lullaby sung slow and with a
creepy background makes it seem like a
horror, also the editing make the frames
darker as most horror films are in dark
settings. Showing clips of the children being
thrown around and there unhappy faces will
add to the intensity.
