3. I have chosen to create a Slasher film trailer
I chose Slasher because it’s my favourite sub-genre so I have
a better knowledge of Slasher films than other sub-genres.
Also I have a better knowledge and understanding of the
typical conventions of Slasher films than other sub-genres
which will make it easier to ensure all the conventions of
Slasher are reflected in my trailer
4. My film will be called Cirque Du Slay and will focus around a
troubled psychopath named Jackson.
Jackson was raised on the road as his parents ran a Circus show
that travelled the country. His father was the ring master and his
mother was the head acrobat, whereas Jackson was useless
couldn’t do anything so his father called him a waste of space and
said he should be like the other kids
The beginning of the trailer will focus on him when he was a boy
and show how his hatred for other children began
He targets a group of 6 teenagers who bullied him when he came
to the school after his parents died and follows them when they
break into the school one night
5. It will be a similar idea to Halloween, where a troubled boy becomes a brutal
murderer.
To link to his past and the name, Jackson will always wear a clown mask. Only at
the beginning of the trailer were we see him as a young boy will the audience
see his face.
I chose a clown mask because several members of my target audience find
clowns extremely creepy and frightening so will be terrified by an antagonist
disguised as a clown.
6. The trailer will be set mostly around the school, but
with parts of it set in the woods where the final fight
between Jackson and Alex the final girl will be set.
The school in the film is located in a suburban area with
the local woods just behind it. Alex manages to escape
from the school just minutes after the 5th teenager is
murdered. She runs to the woods to try and hide from
Jackson.
The trailer will only show snippets of the final fight and
won’t show the death of each of the characters to
ensure that the narrative isn’t revealed too much.
